Padres Bring Back Drew Carlton

San Diego Padres relief pitcher Drew Carlton has decided to re-sign with the organization. The two sides have reached an agreement on a minor-league contract. The right-hander recently elected free agency after being removed from the 40-man roster. Despite that, the two sides were able to come to an agreement to bring back Carlton for the 2024 season. The 28-year-old appeared in 11 games last season before going down in July with right elbow inflammation. Carlton only has 20 MLB games under his belt, but has pitched well during his time in the minors. He should be able to at least be a back-end piece out of the bullpen for the Padres next season.

Drew Carlton Moved To 60-Day Injured List

San Diego Padres right-hander Drew Carlton (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Monday. Carlton has been dealing with inflammation in his right elbow and has been sidelined since early July. The team made a few other moves on Monday, promoting Ben Gamel from Triple-A and placing Ji-Man Choi (ribs) on the 10-day injured list. Carlton has a 2-1 record and a 4.35 ERA across 20 2/3 innings of work in 2023. He will be eligible to be reinstated from the IL on September 1.

Drew Carlton Lands On Injured List

San Diego Padres relief pitcher Drew Carlton (elbow) landed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. The 27-year-old has appeared in 11 games for the big club in 2023, amassing a 2-1 record and a 4.35 ERA. He is now dealing with elbow inflammation, so it's anyone's guess when he'll be back on the bump. At any rate, considering how inconsistent Carlton has been all year, the latest update won't phase the small group of fantasy managers who had him on the roster. In a corresponding move, the team activated Tom Cosgrove (hamstring) from the 15-day IL.

Tigers Outright Drew Carlton

The Detroit Tigers outrighted right-handed reliever Drew Carlton off the 40-man roster on Tuesday. The 26-year-old appeared in four games for the Tigers down the stretch, surrendering six hits, four walks, two earned runs, and a home run in 3.2 innings. He also registered a strikeout. Detroit enters the offseason with a bullpen featuring closer Gregory Soto and high-leverage relievers Michael Fulmer, Jose Cisnero, Kyle Funkhouser, and Alex Lange. Other bullpen options on the 40-man roster include Joe Jimenez, Bryan Garcia, Jason Foley, Miguel Del Pozo, Nivaldo Rodriguez, and Rony Garcia.
