John Andreoli Designated For Assignment, Jake Barrett Acquired
The San Francisco Giants designated outfielder John Andreoli for assignment on Wednesday. The team also added relief pitcher Jake Barrett from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash considerations, and he takes the spot on the 40-man roster of Andreoli. Barrett made his debut in 2016 with the Diamondbacks, going 1-2 with a 3.49 ERA across 59 1/3 innings over 68 appearances. It's been downhill since, making just 35 appearances over the past two years, including just seven last season. His hits per nine innings have gone way up since his debut, as has his strikeouts/walks ratio. Perhaps a change of scenery will do him some good, but avoid him for fantasy purposes for now.
