Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Jeff Beliveau was designated for assignment on Friday. Beliveau appeared in five games for Cleveland, pitching 3 1/3 innings while allowing four runs on five hits and four walks. The 31-year-old lefty will likely clear waivers and report to Triple-A Columbus.
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Jeff Beliveau picked up his first save since 2014 on Monday. It was only the second save of his career. He was called on to get the last out of the game after Cleveland closer Cody Allen ran his pitch count up to 41. Beliveau is a 31-year-old journeyman relief pitcher who averages one save every 2.5 seasons. He's not a threat to Allen at all.
Jeff Beliveau Called Up to Join the Cleveland Bullpen
The Cleveland Indians purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Columbus. With Andrew Miller (hamstring) heading to the 10-day disabled list, Cleveland needed a lefty reliever and Beliveau got the call. He'll take Miller's place on the roster, but he's unlikely to take Miller's role. Beliveau will likely work as a lefty specialist for the time he stays on the roster.
