Detroit Tigers infielder Jonathan Schoop has been released. The 31-year-old was designated for assignment earlier this week and has now been officially released. Schoop put up a poor .211/.279/.271 batting line with six home runs and 15 RBI across 133 at-bats this season, which wasn't getting the job done. He should be able to sign on with another team and serve as bench depth in the second half.
