Braves Sign Joshua Fuentes

The Atlanta Braves signed infielder Joshua Fuentes to a minor-league deal on Saturday. Fuentes did not play at all in the big leagues in 2022. He began the year with Triple-A Buffalo in the Toronto Blue Jays' system, hitting .162/.205/.200 with a homer and five RBI in 29 games before playing in the Mexican independent league the rest of the year. The 29-year-old will simply be trying to impress in spring training, but he's likely to begin the 2023 campaign in the minors as infield depth for the Braves. Fuentes has played in three seasons in the majors and has hit .243/.269/.377 with a .646 OPS, 12 home runs, 57 RBI, 52 runs scored and two stolen bases in 149 games for the Colorado Rockies. He won't enter the 2023 season on the fantasy radar.

Josh Fuentes Optioned To Triple-A On Thursday

Colorado Rockies infielder Josh Fuentes has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque along with right-handed pitcher Jesus Tinoco. Both players were part of a corresponding move as pitchers Jose Mujica (recalled) and the recently acquired Ashton Goudeau (activated) join the big league roster. Fuentes had a few bright moments earlier this season but ultimately wasn't able to contribute on a consistent basis. He'll most likely make a return to the big league club later on this season. He currently holds a .228/.261/.357 batting line to go along with seven home runs, 32 RBI, and 30 runs scored over 263 at-bats. He can be safely dropped in redraft leagues.

Josh Fuentes Goes Yard In Friday's Loss

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit, two-run homer in a 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Brewers on Friday. Fuentes wasn't in the starting lineup for this one as Ryan McMahon (forearm) was making his return. He was called upon as a pinch-hitter in the top of the seventh inning and swatted a two-run blast off of Trevor Richards to put the Rockies up 4-0. It was his only at-bat of the night and Colorado would go on to lose the game in extra-innings. The 28-year-old now owns a .238/.271/.397 batting line to go along with seven home runs and 30 RBI across 214 at-bats this year. He doesn't hold much fantasy value being a part-time player with poor rate stats.

Josh Fuentes Homers, Doubles, And Scores Three Runs

Colorado Rockies' third baseman Josh Fuentes went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored in a 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. Fuentes entered Wednesday's action in a 1-for-19 skid at the plate. He busted out his slump in style by smashing his first home run since May 13 off of Taylor Hearn in the eighth inning. He also singled and doubled and scored two more runs in the contest. Overall, the 28-year-old is slashing .255/.293/.427 with five home runs and 26 RBI over 157 at-bats. Since Brendan Rodgers has returned to the lineup Fuentes, along with Garrett Hampson, haven't been playing every day. His inconsistency at the plate coupled with the lack of regular at-bats makes him an unreliable fantasy option.

Josh Fuentes Smacks A Pair Of Doubles In Sunday's Win

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in a 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday. The 28-year-old smacked an RBI double off of Caleb Smith to score Charlie Blackmon in the bottom of the fifth inning. He hit another double earlier in the contest as well. The return of Brendan Rodgers has created a bit of a log jam in the Rockies' infield. Fuentes didn't appear in two games earlier this week with Ryan McMahon covering third and Rodgers playing second but he started the last two contests. A timeshare between Rodgers, Fuentes, and Garrett Hampson seems likely and that should put a damper on all of their fantasy values. On the season, Fuentes is slashing .269/.283/.440 with four home runs and 25 RBI over 134 at-bats.

Josh Fuentes Stays Hot On Sunday

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a strikeout in a 7-6 loss to the Reds on Sunday. Fuentes put the Rockies on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when he smoked a two-run double off of Jeff Hoffman. He would go on to score later in the frame and add two more singles and score another run in the contest. The 28-year-old has been on fire over the last seven games, slashing .414/.433/.724 with two home runs and 13 RBI across 29 at-bats. He's raised his season batting average to .250 with a .655 OPS after a very sluggish start to the season. He's worth a look in deeper mixed and NL-only leagues, especially as he continues to move up the batting order.

Josh Fuentes Homers Again On Thursday

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes was a force at the plate on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in a 13-8 win over the Reds. Fuentes smacked a two-run home run off of Luis Castillo in the bottom of the first inning to stake the Rockies an early 3-0 lead. He then added RBI singles in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, as Colorado grew that lead to 10-0. Cincinnati's offense finally woke up and made things interesting in the later inning but Colorado held on to win 13-8. Fuentes is slashing .308/.357/.538 with two home runs and seven RBI across 26 at-bats in May but all of that run production has come in the last two games. He's still batting an underwhelming .223 with a .585 OPS on the season.

Josh Fuentes Picks Up Three RBI In Win

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 3-2 win over the Padres in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Fuentes put the Rockies on the board in the bottom of the second inning when he took Blake Snell deep for a two-run shot, his third of the season. He then played the hero in the bottom of the eighth inning (extras) when he hit an RBI single off of Nick Ramirez to plate Charlie Blackmon and win the game. The 28-year-old accounted for all of Colorado's runs on Wednesday but his season has not gone according to plan. He's hitting just .204/.218/.306 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and a 23:2 K/BB ratio over 98 at-bats.

Josh Fuentes Sitting For First Game Of Doubleheader

Colorado Rockies infielder Josh Fuentes is not in the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Padres. Fuentes is in the midst of a 1-for-13 slide at the dish and hasn't homered since mid-April. Ryan McMahon will get the start at third base with Matt Adams at first base.

Josh Fuentes Drives In Four In Game 2 Of Doubleheader

Colorado Rockies third baseman Josh Fuentes went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in a 7-2 win over the Mets in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday. Fuentes picked up his first RBI in the first inning with a groundout to score Charlie Blackmon. He then took reliever Jacob Barnes deep for a three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth to put the Rockies up 7-2. The 28-year-old has struggled to start the year with a .188/.188/.333 batting line over his first 48 at-bats. He does have two home runs and nine RBI, though, and has upside if he can cut down on the strikeouts and get on base more frequently. He's struck out 14 times and drawn no walks thus far.
