Justin Nicolino News

Justin Nicolino Claimed By Reds

The Cincinnati Reds claimed left-hander Justin Nicolino from the Miami Marlins on Sunday. He will represent the 39th man on Cincinnati's 40-man roster as they gear up for the start of the regular season. Nicolino, a former second-round draft pick, has not lived up to his draft status in his three-year MLB career. Over 50 appearances, Nicolino has a 10-13 record, 4.65 ERA, and just 26 strikeouts in 48 career innings. Nicolino should help bolster a Cincinnati bullpen that has been a problem spot for the team over the past few seasons.

Justin Nicolino Will Start For Miami On Saturday

The Miami Marlins will start Justin Nicolino on Saturday against the Rockies at Marlins Park. The lefty Nicolino is just another piece in the Marlins' game of pitching musical chairs as they desperately try to fill the spots left by injuries. Nicolino's last big-league start came on June 24 against the Chicago Cubs when he allowed two earned runs on seven hits in four innings. He'll counter against Colorado's Jeff Hoffman in a game that should feature plenty of runs.

Justin Nicolino To Start

Miami Marlins pitcher Justin Nicolino is scheduled to be called up to start Saturday's game against the Rockies. The Marlins needed another starter after Chris O'Grady got hurt and Nicolino will be activated from Triple-A New Orleans. Nicolino's star has fallen with the Marlins this season, as he is pitched just 20 1/3 innings and given up 16 runs (12 earned) over the course of five starts and one relief appearance. He should only be looked at in very deep NL-only leagues.

Justin Nicolino Returns From Disabled List, Will Face Nationals On Monday

Miami Marlins starter Justin Nicolino will return to the lineup after being activated from the 10-day disabled list. The lefty will take the mound on Monday as the Fish begin their series against Tanner Roark and the Washington Nationals at Marlins Park. Nicolino has made a handful of appearances this season, compiling a 0-1 record with a 4.15 ERA. In nine home innings, however, Nicolino has been rather impressive. At Marlins Park this season, he has a 1.00 ERA and opposing batters are hitting him for a lowly .188 average. While he won't make too much of a difference in your lineup, he could be a nice addition for the week.

Justin Nicolino Pulled Early With Blood Blister on Pitching Hand

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Justin Nicolino made it through the Philadelphia batting order once without incident, but the same can't be said for his one plate appearance. Nicolino left after three perfect innings when he suffered a contusion on his left index finger while bunting. X-rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day, so it may not cost him a turn in the rotation, something the Marlins can't afford. Nicolino hasn't been particularly fantasy-relevant this season with a 4.15 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 6.23 K/9.
