The San Diego Padres have recalled relief pitcher Kazuhisa Makita from Triple-A, placimg Jorge Castillo on the DL in a corresponding move. Makita has struggled in his rookie season, pitching to a 5.84 ERA over 22 games. The submariner does however have an impressive 26/7 K/BB ratio. For now, Makita will pitch in middle relief, however, if the Padres move Brad Hand and Kirby Yates there's a chance he could see save opportunities down the line.
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Kazuhisa Makita has been optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Makita is currently rocking a 6.75 ERA in 16 innings pitched and his game so far hasn't translated to the MLB. He pitched in Japan last year, where he pitched to a 2.30 ERA in 62 2/3 innings, and he has been a top relief option due to his unusual submarine delivery that throws off batters. He holds no fantasy relevance in all formats.
