Luis Alexander Basabe Fantasy Stats

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe(wrist) will miss six to eight weeks with a wrist sprain, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Basabe suffered the injury in Tuesday's game while diving for a ball in right field. He was only 1-for-9 this spring, but he did show some speed with two steals in seven games. When healthy, Basabe is a 15-home run, 15-steal threat, but the Giants have their outfield pretty well set at the moment and have top outfield prospect Heliot Ramos waiting in the wings to take a spot.

Outfield prospect Luis Alexander Basabe has been acquired by the San Francisco Giants after he was designated for assignment by the White Sox last Friday. Basabe now joins the Giants at their alternate training site, and while it is unclear if hell be tabbed for his big league debut, San Francisco sees the switch-hitting outfielder added to their Top 30 prospects. After appearing in the Arizona Fall League in 2018, Basabe hit just .250/.331/.341 across two levels last year, capping out at Double-A. While theres no reason for keepers league owners to flock to the waiver wire, he may be a name to keep an eye on should things go south for San Francisco this year.

The Chicago White Sox have designated outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe for assignment. Basabe was part of the haul that came along with Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech for Chris Sale a few summers ago and was at one point one of the better prospects in the White Sox system. Basabe, 24, is unlikely to slip through waivers as he offers a nice project to teams looking to tap into his potential. For fantasy purposes, Basabe can be ignored in all formats.
