Matt Carasiti Picks Up Monday's Save

Colorado Rockies reliever Matt Carasiti closed out Monday's 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox, throwing one inning while giving up one run on one hit. It was still a successful outing, as the right-hander earned his first save of 2023. Over 14 innings this year, Carasiti owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP but is sporting a meager 12.1% strikeout rate and 10.3% walk rate. Fantasy managers targeting saves should hold off on the 31-year-old, as he lacks the stuff of a ninth-inning arm, and the club was likely giving Justin Lawrence, who's recently been the number one option in save situations, a rest after pitching back-to-back days.

Matthew Carasiti Named Opener for Wednesday

Seattle Mariners pitcher Matthew Carasiti has been named the opener for Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The opener move hasn't worked well for Seattle this year, but they will give it at least one more shot. Carasiti will pitch an inning or two and then be followed by lefty Wade LeBlanc out of the bullpen. Fantasy owners should avoid this situation.
