Zach Putnam, Matt Skole Among Five Released By White Sox
The Chicago White Sox released relief pitchers Zach Putnam and Caleb Frare, starting pitcher Matt Tomshaw, first baseman Matt Skole and infielder Ramon Torres on Friday. The White Sox are starting to trim their roster to get down to a list of 60 players by Sunday. Putnam missed all of the 2018 and 2019 seasons because of Tommy John surgery. The right-hander had a 1.04 ERA, 0.35 WHIP and 9.3 K/9 in seven appearances for the Pale Hose in 2017 before going under the knife. Skole, a left-handed hitter, has a .217/.290/.277 slash line with one homer, seven RBI, nine walks and 34 K's in 83 career at-bats with the White Sox the last two seasons.
Chicago White Sox first baseman Matt Skole will bat sixth in his first start of the 2019 season on Monday. Jose Abreu is still in the lineup batting third, just as the designated hitter for a road game in Detroit. Skole only has three pinch hitting appearances so far this season, with two singles and a game-tying RBI on Friday. He has also hit .248/.384/.497 at Triple-A. Detroit is starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull fresh off the injured list. Skole comes fairly cheap in DFS but is still not the wisest play, batting sixth and with such a light track record.
Matt Davidson Activated From Disabled List On Monday
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Matt Davidson (back) has been activated from the disabled list on Monday. Davidson missed the minimum amount of time with back tightness. Unless you are an owner looking for home runs, Davidson can be avoided in most formats. Infielder Matt Skole has been sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
