Portland Trail Blazers forward Greg Brown III (eye) is listed as probable for Wednesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The 20-year-old rookie suffered a corneal abrasion during this past Saturday's game against the Houston Rockets. The injury caused him to miss the team's last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. Brown has seen a good amount of run so far this month, averaging 18.2 minutes per contest. However, apart from pulling down a season-high 14 rebounds on March 23, he hasn't been doing a ton with his minutes, shooting just 36.5% from the field while averaging 4.7 points per game.
Portland Trail Blazers power forward/center Greg Brown III (eye) has been ruled out for Monday's game vs. Oklahoma City due to a corneal abrasion in his left eye. Brown departed Saturday's outing after just six minutes due to the ailment, with his absence one of many leaving a significant void in Portland's frontcourt. Drew Eubanks should see all the run at center that he can handle, while Elijah Hughes, Keon Johnson, and CJ Elleby all stand to have elevated rebounding duties without Brown on the floor. When healthy, Brown had begun to carve out a solid role among the second unit as a double-double threat. His next chance to take the floor comes Wednesday against the Pelicans.
Greg Brown III Departs Saturday’s Game With Eye Injury
Portland Trail Blazers power forward/center Greg Brown III (eye) left Saturday's contest vs. Houston after just six minutes due to an eye ailment that has sent him to a doctor. Brown has seen his playing time jump exponentially over the past month-plus due to widespread injuries on the Portland roster, although he has yet to score in double figures over his last 16 outings. With Trendon Watford (knee) down for at least one of the final two weeks of the year, Brown would stand to see elevated duties in the Blazers' frontcourt if he can ultimately be cleared. The team does not boast many healthy frontcourt options beyond him with CJ Elleby and Keon Johnson candidates to see an uptick in minutes beginning Monday against the Thunder.
Portland Trail Blazers rookie power forward Greg Brown III (illness) will be available for Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Brown is dealing with a non-COVID illness and he had been listed as questionable going into Sunday. The Blazers will be without a number of players for Sunday's game, including fellow forward Justise Winslow (Achilles), so Brown could get a good amount of run. He played 25 minutes in Thursday's game and put together some solid defensive stats (two blocks and a steal) while hitting a three-pointer and racking up eight points.
