Memphis Inks Kennedy Chandler To Four-Year Contract
Second-round draft-pick contracts in the NBA are notoriously finicky. Not usually including guaranteed money, draft selections are susceptible to two-way deals and being moved on from far quicker than first-round choices. But that won't be the case for Memphis point guard Kennedy Chandler. The Grizzlies are reportedly giving Chandler $4.94 million guaranteed on his four-year contract, a sizable sum that makes it clear that the former University of Tennessee guard will be a part of the team's backcourt plans. While the deal is a boon for Chandler, his path to significant playing time is largely blocked by Ja Morant and Tyus Jones for the time being, making him more of a deep stash in dynasty formats and/or a name to monitor on the waiver wire.
