Waiver Wire Pickups
Week 10 is here in the NFL 2022 season. It’s speeding way faster than it should be since I want to enjoy it while it lasts. If only we could have NFL football year-round. Congratulations on surviving Week Nine of the NFL Season. It was a bloodbath littered with injuries, under-performances, ghosting, some wacky kicks, and even wilder finishes. Many players dealt with injuries or awful performances like Josh Allen, Gabe Davis, Michael Pittman, and many more. This includes previous players that missed Week 9 like Marquise Brown, Michael Thomas, Mark Andrews, and others. Due to these injuries and poor performances from players, you’re in need of some new players on your roster. That’s why you’re reading this article. I’ll give you some names that you should see if they are on your waivers and really consider picking them up. It’s already near the one-third mark of the NFL season, so be sure to improve those teams since this is where the build for the playoffs truly starts. The league I’ll be basing these on is a 1QB, PPR, and 12-team league, although I’ll include some deeper league shout-outs.
The waivers are based on Yahoo’s system and roster percentages. Waivers typically process Tuesday or Wednesday night so go get those claims in! I wish you luck with Week 9 and may the NFL overlords give us some great football, no missed kicks, and plenty of healthy players with no injuries. Truly, it’s kind of depressing and crazy that Week 10 is here already. Enjoy the fantasy football and NFL season while you can!

Quarterbacks
Deshaun Watson
Cleveland Browns, 28% rostered
Regardless of how one feels about Watson and what he did or didn’t do, he’s a tremendous fantasy asset to play every week for your team. Yes, he had two years off, but I highly doubt his talent disappeared. With a decent group of talented players around him, I would be shocked to not see Watson be a potential league-winner for some teams this season. If you are in need of a quarterback this late in the season, consider adding Watson as he could help win your league for you by providing QB1-tier points every week. He’s far better on the field than any other waiver-wire quarterbacks available right now.
Running Backs
Jeff Wilson Jr.
Miami Dolphins, 52% rostered
I don’t think anyone trusts Raheem Mostert to stay healthy the whole season, especially when the Dolphins were feeding him the ball so much in recent weeks. That’s why the team went out and got Jeff Wilson Jr., who fits Coach McDaniel’s system perfectly. We saw how he already knows the offense extremely well after only one week of practice on Sunday against the Bears. Wilson scored more than Mostert in PPR and had a touchdown. He secured all three of his targets for 21 yards and averaged a healthy 5.7 ypc over 9 carries for 51 yards. Wilson is a great running back to stash on your bench or even start in your flex. The Dolphins’ offense will use him plenty. If somehow Wilson’s still on your waivers, make sure to try to snag him since he could be a league winner should Mostert miss any time down the stretch.
Rachaad White
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 34% rostered
White is one of the best handcuffs in fantasy as the rookie back is already working his way into the flex-caliber conversation despite not starting. This past week against the Rams, White had 6+ points and 11 touches. That number of touches is key to getting more fantasy points. As long as White keeps getting those number of touches or more, I wouldn’t be surprised to see White’s point total rise as well. The back has 25 targets on the year which raises his profile for PPR leagues. We are into the handcuff stage of the season where you want the handcuffs behind running backs who would see a large number of touches should the starter get hurt. Case in point, Leonard Fournette gets a ton of work and has a history of missing at least a couple of games a season. Due to that, White’s a great player to stash on your bench just in case. Should Lenny miss any time, then White becomes a potential RB1 during that time.
Honorable Mentions: Isaiah Spiller, Kenneth Gainwell, Chase Edmonds,
Wide Receivers
Terrace Marshall Jr.
Carolina Panthers, 6% rostered
Marshall finally got his first-ever touchdown reception last week in the blowout loss to the Bengals. However, he’s quietly put up solid weeks back-to-back since CMC was traded with at least 53 yards or a touchdown. In fact, over the last two weeks, he’s seen 15 targets and has caught seven of them for 140 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers will certainly play in the miserable fantasy football landscape right now. I’d have him as a WR3/flex for this week and the rest of the season. The Panthers will be constantly playing from behind which lends to a better game script for the second-year wideout. He’s better than most of the other options on waivers right in terms of the rest of the season. TMJ could see ever better results should the team decide to start Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold instead of PJ Walker.
Donovan Peoples-Jones
Cleveland Browns, 21% rostered
When Watson comes back, Peoples-Jones’ value should skyrocket as the deep threat for a strong-armed accurate quarterback. Already, Donovan has had a great past five weeks by averaging over 11.5 points per game, 6+ targets, 69 yards per game, and a 20+% target share. He’s on bye right now, so you could be able to just pick him up right away instead of waiting for waivers. He’s currently a solid flex play and could be much better when Watson returns. Coincidentally enough, Donovan has three straight games with at least a 37-yard catch which is a quick way for your team to get PPR points really fast. He’s a great add right now for the rest of the season, especially compared to other players available right now.
Honorable Mentions: Mecole Hardman, Zay Jones, Josh Palmer
Tight Ends
Cade Otton
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 11% rostered
Otton is becoming a semi-reliable tight end in the fantasy football world right now. Of course, there are truly only five or so tight ends that are actually reliable every week, so Cade fills a crucial gap for many teams. Last week, he had a career game by scoring his first-ever touchdown and catching five passes for 68 yards on six targets. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him continue to be a good bye-week fill-in TE2 for the rest of the season. I doubt there are any other decent tight ends aside from Kmet or Henry. All three of these are good bets to get you through Week 10.
Honorable Mentions: Cole Kmet, Hunter Henry
