Waiver Wire Pickups
Week 7 is here in the NFL 2022 season. It’s speeding way faster than it should be since I want to enjoy it while it lasts. If only we could have NFL football year-round. Congratulations on surviving Week Seven of the NFL Season. It was a bloodbath littered with injuries, under-performances, ghosting, some wacky kicks, and even wilder finishes. Many players dealt with injuries or awful performances like Aaron Jones, Marquise Brown, Mike Evans, and many more. This includes previous players that missed Week 6 like Keenan Allen, DeAndre Hopkins, Jonathan Taylor, James Conner, and others. Due to these injuries and poor performances from players, you’re in need of some new players on your roster. That’s why you’re reading this article. I’ll give you some names that you should see if they are on your waivers and really consider picking them up. It’s already near the one-third mark of the NFL season, so be sure to improve those teams since this is where the build for the playoffs truly starts. The league I’ll be basing these on is a 1QB, PPR, and 12-team league, although I’ll include some deeper league shout-outs.
The waivers are based on Yahoo’s system and roster percentages. Waivers typically process Tuesday or Wednesday night so go get those claims in! I wish you luck with Week 7 and may the NFL overlords give us some great football, no missed kicks, and plenty of healthy players with no injuries.

Quarterbacks
Marcus Mariota
Atlanta Falcons, 14% rostered
Marcus Mariota performed excellently against the tough 49ers. He had only 129 passing yards but two touchdowns. Plus, he had 50 yards on the ground and another touchdown en route to the QB5 finish of the week. Over the last two weeks, he has over 20 points and 111 rushing yards. If you have Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, or another quarterback on bye this week, Mariota would be a worthy start based on his rushing yards alone. He’ll provide a great floor with the upside to be a top finisher if he can string some passing touchdowns along too.
Running Backs
Latavius Murray
Denver Broncos, 15% rostered
So, it appears that Murray might now be the RB1 of the Denver Broncos. In his first game with the Broncos, all Murray did was lead the backfield in carries and rushing yards. MG3 and Mike Boone combined for only four carries while Murray saw 15. Murray had 66 yards and a catch for negative two yards. He should be added off waivers purely due to the workload he will receive. Any running back that leads his team in touches should be rostered, even on a miserable offense like the Broncos. He’ll be a flex-caliber player with the upside of being an RB2 if he can sneak into the endzone.
Rachaad White
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 34% rostered
It’s the beginning of bye-week hell which means that you might be forced to start a running back that gets touches but isn’t the starter like White. Plus, White might be one of the best handcuffs to have in fantasy. It’s reasonable to expect Leonard Fournette to miss a game or two at some point this season due to his history. In this respect, one could foresee White being a must-start running back since he will get at least 15+ touches. Over his last three games, he has 12 carries and 13 targets with 11 catches, 121 yards combined, and a touchdown. If you’re in a PPR league, starting White on a week you have multiple missing running backs wouldn’t be a terrible thing to do.
Honorable Mentions: Deon Jackson, Kenyan Drake, Kyren Williams
Wide Receivers
Robbie Anderson
Arizona Cardinals, 12% rostered
With the depressing news that Hollywood Brown is out for at least six weeks, the Cardinals traded for another wide receiver in the form of Robbie Anderson. The former Panthers wideout had become disgruntled with the woeful Carolina offense. Not that the Cardinals are much better, but they certainly have the potential to be with Kyler Murray and now DeAndre Hopkins back. The player who serves as the WR2 for Kyler Murray should always be rostered. In this case, that is Robbie Anderson who will bring a large frame and deep-play ability to Kyler’s huge arm. I’d gladly take a gamble on him. At the very least, he should be a boom-bust WR3 with the potential to become an every-week WR2/flex player.
Wan’Dale Robinson
New York Giants, 8% rostered
Wan’Dale Robinson was finally healthy and showcased what he can do with the ball in Sunday’s win over the Ravens. This Giants’ offense is surprisingly pretty decent. This means that you should take a stab at getting who might become the leading wide receiver for the New York Giants’ passing attack. Wan’Dale only saw four targets and caught three of them, but he did have 37 yards and a touchdown. Robinson is the team’s starting slot wide receiver which brings some fantasy-friendly targets. He’s electric with the ball and always a threat to take it for huge gains. This might be the best chance to acquire him for free off waivers.
Honorable Mentions: Alec Pierce, Nico Collins, Tyquan Thorton
Tight Ends
Daniel Bellinger
New York Giants, 3% rostered
Bellinger has been rising for the past few weeks including a TE7 finish last week when he racked up five catches for 38 yards and a touchdown. As mentioned above, right now is a cheap time to get in on a rising Giants offense that is still figuring out who its key playmakers are. Bellinger has either 3 or more catches or a touchdown in every game since Week 2. When you consider that byes are now here and you’ll be needing a replacement tight end, why not snag one with plenty of upside like Bellinger? A tight end getting red zone looks for your one-week fill-in is far better than hoping you can get a tight end being used often.
