MLB Player Props
The first set of player props was a success. I went 2-1 yesterday, thanks to Corbin Burnes and Kyle Tucker coming up clutch. Burnes had some issues in the 6th inning but was able to pull through. Kyle Tucker had an amazing night, but we were one prop away from the perfect night. Shota Imanaga had a good game, as he allowed zero runs. Unfortunately, we had Imanaga under 5.5 hits and he allowed seven hits to the Atlanta Braves.
Another attempt will be made on a perfect record while making even more money. 16 games on the slate give us all of the props possible. Let’s see what made the cut.
Reid Detmers Over 17.5 Outs (-155)
Reid Detmers started the season on a tear, making the public think that the young left-hander was putting it all together for the Los Angeles Angels. However, he has not surpassed five innings in his last three games, while allowing at least five earned runs in each of those games. Despite the recent bad outings, Detmers has a great matchup tonight and can get it back on track.
The Angels match up with the St. Louis Cardinals tonight, who are struggling once again. They are 17-24 and 3-7 in their last 10. Detmers is a lefty and the Cardinals are putrid against lefties. The Cardinals are batting a league-worst .188 against left-handed pitchers. Detmers is in the 20th percentile in barrel%, but the Cardinals as a team are the 5th worst team in barrel%. Detmers is facing the perfect team to get his groove back.
Furthermore, the Angels have used their bullpen significantly over the last three games. I expect Detmers to bounce back and have to carry the Angels for at least six innings.
Chris Bassitt Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-135)
The Toronto Blue Jays have had high hopes for a few seasons now, but it might never click for them. They are last in the AL East and one of the reasons why is the pitching, The Blue Jays obtain the 6th worst ERA in all of MLB with a 4.51 ERA. One of those struggling pitchers is Chris Bassitt, who owns an ERA of 5.06, the 8th worst. Bassitt looks like he just doesn’t have it this season. He goes on the road today to face off against the Baltimore Orioles.
Leaving his home ballpark has been troublesome for Bassitt. He has a 1-3 record and 5.14 ERA on the road. Furthermore, the Orioles are just a great hitting squad. The Orioles rank in the top three in barrel% and hard-hit%, both of which have Bassitt below the 50th percentile. I can see Bassitt getting torched today after having a solid outing in his last appearance. The Orioles can get to him and look for Gunnar Henderson to be that guy, as he has three hits on him, two of them being homers. Sprinkle a Gunnar Henderson home run (+450) for Dinger Tuesday.
Jack Leiter Over 4.5 Hits & Josh Naylor Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-150)
This is going to be a combo pick on this one. Jack Leiter is a young stud that the Texas Rangers have a lot of faith in. However, his first two starts have not gone his way. In his first two outings, Leiter allowed at least four earned runs and did not strike out more than three batters. The prop I want to aim at for Leiter is his hits. Over 4.5 hits seem too low after allowing seven and eight hits, respectively. He hasn’t pitched more than four innings in those two starts, but that is due to getting blown up in these starts rather than needing to keep his pitch count low.
The Cleveland Guardians are on fire and currently in first place in the AL Central. The Guardians were not looked at as a contender and could potentially sell off some players. However, they are in prime position to make a run for the postseason. One of the key contributors is Josh Naylor. The 26-year-old first baseman is having a career season thus far. He is batting .267 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs. Against right-handed pitchers, Naylor is batting .264 with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs.
I was having a hard time picking between the two, but I decided that both props were too good to not highlight. Both props are great choices, so you can choose either one to parlay with the other two props.
