Fantasy Football Recap: Week 6

Fantasy Football Recap: Week 6

Rookie quarterbacks are taking the league by storm! Five different rookies started under center this week, and Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix and Drake Maye all managed to throw for multiple touchdowns. The NFC North has also improved to a ridiculous 17-5, with all three teams (the Vikings being on bye) winning in blowout fashion. The following fantasy point total mentions refer to a 4-point passing TD, standard PPR format.

Bears 35 Jaguars 16

  • Caleb Williams (28.64 PTS) delivered an out-of-this-world performance with the Bears and Jaguars going overseas. The 2024 no. 1 overall pick tossed a career-high four touchdowns to lead a Chicago offense that averaged 6.1 yards per play. Tight end Cole Kmet (24.0 PTS) took a pair of trips to the end zone, and he even served as the long snapper for the majority of the game. Evan Engram (20.2 PTS) broke 100 receiving yards in his return, and Gabe Davis (21.5 PTS) scored both of Jacksonville’s touchdowns.

Texans 41 Patriots 21

  • Houston looks like an early Super Bowl contender, and their week 6 performance only strengthened the case. For the second time in the last three weeks, second-year signal caller C.J. Stroud (18.38 PTS) tossed for multiple touchdowns. With Nico Collins being sidelined due to injury, Stefon Diggs (19.7 PTS) tallied 77 receiving yards and scored his first touchdown since week 1. Rookie QB Drake Maye (19.52 PTS) gave Patriots fans plenty to look forward to, but his flashes weren’t consistent enough to keep New England in the game.

Ravens 30 Commanders 23

  • In a battle between two of the league’s best mobile quarterbacks, the 2023 MVP, Lamar Jackson (18.92 PTS) prevailed. Derrick Henry (25.2 PTS) led Baltimore’s ground game, scoring twice to the tune of 132 rushing yards. The connection between Jayden Daniels (20.96 PTS) and Terry McLaurin (23.3 PTS) may have helped fantasy owners, but it wasn’t enough to help the Commanders. The Ravens have now rattled off four straight victories after starting the season at 0-2.

Eagles 20 Browns 16

  • A.J. Brown (23.6 PTS) came back for his first appearance since week 1, and he made his presence known. The Eagles’ primary option garnered a team-high 9 targets and pulled in nearly half of Jalen Hurts’ (21.86 PTS) passing yards. Deshaun Watson’s (8.42 PTS) struggles continued. The veteran quarterback has now failed to pass for 200 yards in every game this season. The Browns are 1-5 overall and have a date with their in-state rivals, the Bengals, in week 7.

Packers 34 Cardinals 13

  • Rain or shine, the Packers’ offense looked explosive against the Cardinals all afternoon long. Jordan Love (25.62 PTS) tied his career-high in passing touchdowns (4), and Romeo Doubs’ (19.9 PTS) usage issues seemed far behind him in a two-touchdown game. Green Bay’s offense put up a total of 437 yards and won the crucial turnover battle, 3-1. Tight end Trey McBride (17.6 PTS) was the lone glimmer of hope for Arizona’s offense, but he could only do so much. The Green and Gold have now won four of their last five contests.

Buccaneers 51 Saints 27

  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a historic day at the office. Liam Coen’s offense was flying all over the field, logging 594 total yards in a contest that saw 78 points between the NFC South foes. Chris Godwin (35.5 PTS) is now in the top 10 in receptions (43), yards (511) and receiving touchdowns (5) on the young season. Sean Tucker and Bucky Irving also combined for 217 yards on the ground. Spencer Rattler (12.42 PTS) showed that he can be serviceable, while Tampa now sits in a tie with Atlanta atop the division.

Colts 20 Titans 17

  • From the NFC South to the AFC South, the Colts and Titans didn’t bring as much offensive firepower to the gridiron. Sophomore pass-catcher Josh Downs (19.5 PTS) attracted four more targets than any other Colts receiver, while Tony Pollard (17.8 PTS) paced the Tennessee ground game. Will Levis (7.3 PTS) threw a fourth quarter interception, and the Titans were unable to score from that point on.

Chargers 23 Broncos 16

  • After finding themselves down 23-0 heading into the final quarter, the Broncos’ 16-0 run gave the game a competitive silver lining. Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert  (13.68 PTS) tossed for a season-high 237 yards in a run-heavy scheme. J.K. Dobbins (18.2 PTS) got into the end zone for the third time this season, as he touched the ball 27 times in this one. The Chargers are back above .500, but they’re still chasing the undefeated Chiefs in a race for the AFC West crown.

Steelers 32 Raiders 13

  • In a contest dominated by the Steelers’ run game (183 yards, 5.2 yards per carry), Pittsburgh cracked 30 points for the first time this year to improve to 4-2. Najee Harris (20.2 PTS) cleared 100 rushing yards for the first game this season, while Justin Fields (23.7 PTS) rushed for a pair of touchdowns with no turnovers. Brock Bowers (16.1 PTS) had five more targets than any other Las Vegas receiver. The Raiders now find themselves in a three-game slide.

Lions 47 Cowboys 9

  • After last year’s matchup between these teams was determined by an ineligible man downfield call on Detroit, the Lions responded with a 38-point triumph. Detroit kept the theme alive set by their NFC North rivals in the Bears and Packers, as they blew Dallas out of the water. David Montgomery (21.0 PTS) led the Lions’ dominant ground game, but Detroit will likely be without superstar Aidan Hutchinson, as Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia in the second half.

Falcons 38 Panthers 20

  • The Panthers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but the Falcons scored 38 of the final 51 points to improve to 4-2. Bijan Robinson (25.5 PTS) collected 105 all-purpose yards with 18 touches, while Tyler Allgeier (17.8 PTS) logged 108 yards on one more touch. While it was a losing effort for Carolina, Chuba Hubbard (15.3 PTS) looked powerful, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Atlanta has a date with Seattle next week, while Carolina will take on Washington.

Bengals 17 Giants 7

  • The Sunday slate wrapped up with the lowest scoring contest of the day, but Cincinnati’s offense came through in the final minutes. Joe Burrow (19.82 PTS) led all Bengals players in fantasy points, while Chase Brown (14.4 PTS) had a 30-yard TD run to slam the door. Darius Slayton (11.7 PTS) had six receptions on 11 targets for New York, but the Giants could only turn 309 yards of offense into 7 points.

With week 6 giving us a greater idea of the 2024 data, look out for patterns and new storylines that build during a new season. Some of the best performers of this season may even be a free agent in most leagues. Stay tuned for our week 7 recap next Monday.
