The Houston Astros have reportedly signed pitcher Adam Morgan to a minor league deal, according to Chandler Rome of The Houston Chronicle. Per Rome, Morgan has also been invited to Major League Spring Training. The left-handed pitcher owns a lifetime 4.80 ERA and a 4.68 FIP in seven career Major League seasons. Six of those seasons came with the Philadelphia Phillies, but most recently Morgan appeared in 34 games for the Chicago Cubs in 2021. In those 34 games, the veteran pitched to a 4.26 ERA and a 5.58 FIP in 25.1 innings while registering 28 strikeouts, 12 walks, and a pair of saves. He'll give the Astros some extra bullpen depth this season.
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Adam Morgan recorded his second save of the season on Monday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Morgan worked a clean inning with no strikeouts to secure the save. The Cubs have rolled with reliever Rowan Wick for their last four save opportunities and he has secured three of those, but seemed to be unavailable on Monday. Wick seems like the pitcher to roster of the two, but both are shaky options with the Cubs unlikely to provide many save opportunities moving forward.
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Adam Morgan earned his first save of the season in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader. Morgan worked a 1-2-3 inning with no strikeouts to lock up a Cubs victory. The lefty has been solid for the Cubs in the second half of the season and owns a 2.50 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched. Despite the save, the Cubs have gone with a committee for the rare times that they have had a save opportunity in the second half of the season. Managers seeking saves can keep an eye on Morgan, but it would be wise to see if he picks up some more saves first.
Adam Morgan May Return From Injured List On September 10
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Adam Morgan (shoulder) could rejoin the team as soon as hes eligible on September 10, according to manager Joe Girardi. Morgan was placed on the injured list with a fatigued left shoulder, but the Phillies expect his stint to be brief and are optimistic that hell miss only the minimum 10 days. Morgan had struggled in 11 appearances before landing on the IL with a 5.87 ERA, but the 30-year-old should bounce back somewhat after posting a 3.87 ERA over the past two seasons.
Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Adam Morgan was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesdays contest against the Nationals due to a fatigued left shoulder. Morgan has allowed five runs (three homers) through his first 7 frames this season, but has amassed 11 strikeouts in that stretch. Having been a consistent relief cog for the Phillies since 2017, Morgans placement on the IL made room for recently acquired righty David Phelps to join the active roster. JoJo Romero figures to take over primary southpaw duties so long as Morgan is out of the mix.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Adam Morgan threw another scoreless inning with a walk and two strikeouts vs the Pirates Sunday afternoon. Morgan has now gone seven appearances in a row without allowing a run and has taken over the eighth-inning role for the Phillies. Manager Gabe Kapler is known for non-traditional bullpen usage, but this year has primarily used Hector Neris as the closer. Neris, however, has given up runs in four of his last six appearances and is facing a three-game suspension for plunking David Freese last week. Morgan has struck out almost a batter per inning this season with a 0.94 WHIP and 3.38 ERA which is supported by a 3.62 FIP. He's worth a look in leagues where saves are a category, especially with the trade deadline looming.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Adam Morgan (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. This is another blow to an already depleted Phillies bullpen that is in desperate need of any help they can get. There is no timetable for Morgan to return at this time. Right-handed relief pitcher Yacksel Rios has been called up from Triple-A and like most Phillies bullpen arms, he can be safely ignored in all formats.
It's another pitcher picking up their first save of the season for the Philadelphia Phillies. This time it was Adam Morgan closing things out, retiring the last two batters of the game in their 4-3 victory Wednesday over the St. Louis Cardinals. The fact that pretty much anybody could close a game for manager Gabe Kapler makes it difficult to rely on any of these relievers for saves. Seranthony Dominguez does seem like the best bet for saves going forward and is the best arm in that bullpen. However, he did surrender a home run to Matt Carpenter the game before, picking up the loss Tuesday. Morgan is who was turned to Wednesday, but you probably shouldn't expect a lot of saves from the left-hander.
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Adam Morgan (back) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list. The Phillies are calling this issue a back strain, so hopefully this is not too serious. He likely suffered the injury during his appearance on Sunday. Seranthony Dominguez has been recalled to take Morgan's spot in the bullpen. Morgan was only worth adding in the deepest of leagues that count holds. He can be dropped since it's unclear how long he'll be on the disabled list.
