Trea Turner Leaves Game After Being Hit by Pitch in First Inning

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (calf) left Thursday night's game against the division-rival New York Mets early at Citizens Bank Park after he was hit by a pitch in his right calf in the bottom of the first inning, according to Paul Casella of MLB.com. It's the second time this week that Turner left early after being hit by a pitch. Turner initially stayed in the game after being hit and came around to score in the first frame, but he was eventually replaced at the 6 by Edmundo Sosa. The severity of the 32-year-old three-time All-Star's injury is unknown as of right now, but we'll consider him day-to-day until we know more. The fact that Turner stayed in the game initially leads us to believe that he should be alright. In his 12th year in the big leagues, Turner has shown signs of decline at the plate, as he entered Thursday's clash with the Mets with a .223/.274/.334 slash line, career-low .608 OPS, seven home runs, 21 RBI, 15 stolen bases, and 42 runs scored in 72 contests over 318 plate appearances. If Turner is forced to the injured list, Sosa would take over as the Phillies' starting shortstop. UPDATE: Turner was diagnosed with a bruised right calf, according to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Adolis Garcia to Have Season-Ending Lat Surgery on Wednesday

The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Thursday that outfielder Adolis Garcia (lat) will have season-ending surgery on his right lat on Wednesday, and it will be performed by Dr. Anthony Romero. Garcia's recovery is projected to take six to eight months for a full return to play, and he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2027 season. It's a tough break for the 33-year-old Cuban in his first year in Philly. The veteran outfielder was struggling with the Phillies before his lat injury, though, and he'll finish the year with a disappointing .195/.270/.329 with seven home runs, 21 RBI, 21 runs scored, and three stolen bases in 67 games across 259 plate appearances. The two-time All-Star hit a career-high 39 home runs and drove in 107 runs in 148 games in 2023 on his way to leading the Rangers to their first-ever World Series championship, but he has declined rapidly since then, and injuries certainly haven't helped. Garcia's season-ending injury could help rookie outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. stick around the rest of the year after his recent call-up. He deserves attention for his raw power from the left side of the plate in deeper fantasy leagues.

Andrew Painter  • SP  •  Phillies

Phillies Demote Rookie Pitcher Andrew Painter to Triple-A

The Philadelphia Phillies demoted right-hander Andrew Painter to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. After losing to the division-rival Miami Marlins on Wednesday, Painter is 1-8 with a 7.06 ERA in his first 14 appearances (12 starts) in his first year in the big leagues in 2026. The 23-year-old former 13th overall pick in 2021 struggled again on Wednesday in Philly's 12-4 loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits (two homers) while walking two and striking out three in just two innings pitched. Painter has really struggled of late, surrendering five-plus runs in each of his last three starts. It's unclear who will take Painter's spot in the starting rotation to close out the first half of the 2026 season. Painter will head back to the Iron Pigs to work on some things, but he'll most likely be back up with Philly at some point in the second half. Fantasy managers in single-year mixed leagues shouldn't consider him a must-hold amidst his struggles. Painter is currently rostered in only 11% of Yahoo leagues.

Phillies Place Brad Keller on Injured List With Forearm Tendinitis

The Philadelphia Phillies announced before Tuesday's game against the division-rival Miami Marlins that they placed right-handed reliever Brad Keller (forearm) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 14) with right-forearm tendinitis and recalled right-hander Max Lazar from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Keller had one of his worst outings of the year for the Phillies in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, allowing three earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out one in just one inning of work. The 30-year-old veteran has gone 2-1 on the year with a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 31 strikeouts, 12 walks, three saves, and 13 holds in 30 1/3 innings out of the bullpen in his first year with the team. Keller will be forced to sit out the next couple of weeks, but he could be back as a valuable late-inning setup man for Philly before the All-Star break in mid-July. Keller only has eight saves in his eight-plus MLB seasons, but six of them have come in the last two years with the Phillies and Chicago Cubs.

Trea Turner Out of Tuesday's Lineup With Wrist Injury

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (wrist) is out of the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game at home against the division-rival Miami Marlins, according to MLB.com. Turner was removed from the game early in Monday's series opener with a right-wrist bruise after he was hit by a pitch, and he'll miss at least one game as a result. With X-rays coming back negative, Turner is expected to be back in the starting nine on Wednesday. Edmundo Sosa will start at the 6 at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday and will bat ninth for the Phillies against Marlins right-hander Tyler Phillips. Turner, in his 12th year in the big leagues, is showing clear signs of decline so far in 2026, as he's currently hitting just .216/.268/.326 with a career-worst .595 OPS, seven home runs, 21 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and 41 runs scored in 71 games and a league-high 291 at-bats. The three-time All-Star had a league-high .304 average (179-for-589) in 141 regular-season games in 2025 in his third year with the Phillies. Turner hasn't homered since May 27 and has gone 10-for-53 (.189) with two doubles, two RBI, three steals, seven runs, three walks, and 15 strikeouts in 13 games so far in June.

Trea Turner Removed From Monday's Game Early With Bruised Wrist

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (wrist) was removed from Monday night's game early against the division-rival Miami Marlins with a right-wrist bruise, according to Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Turner will be evaluated further after the game. Before being hit by a pitch on his right hand, Turner went 0-for-3 in the contest to drop his season average to .216 and his OPS to .594. Edmundo Sosa replaced him at the 6 and would likely see most of the starts at shortstop for the Phils going forward if Turner is forced to miss additional time. Fantasy managers will want to check back later or on Tuesday morning for an update on Turner's condition. The three-time All-Star came into Monday's contest with an ugly .219/.269/.330 slash line, a career-worst .598 OPS, seven home runs, 21 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and 41 runs scored in a league-high 288 at-bats and 70 games played in his 12th year in the big leagues. Positive regression should be coming for the veteran shortstop, but not much, as he sits with an xBA OF .231 and an xSLG of just .344. Turner sits in just the 37th percentile in hard-hit rate and the ninth percentile in xwOBA. UPDATE: X-rays on Turner's right wrist came back negative, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Gabriel Rincones Jr.  • RF  •  Phillies

Phillies Promote Gabriel Rincones Jr., Poised for a Large Role?

The Philadelphia Phillies are calling up outfield prospect Gabriel Rincones Jr. to the majors on Friday, according to Milb Central. Rincones gets the nod to the majors with Adolis Garcia (lat) going on the 60-day injured list due to a torn lat muscle. The 25-year-old former third-rounder in 2022 out of Florida Atlantic University was hitting just .215/.344/.291 with a .635 OPS, one homer, nine RBI, 14 runs scored, four stolen bases, 16 walks, and 21 strikeouts in 22 games at Single-A Clearwater, High-A Jersey Shore, and Triple-A Lehigh Valley before his call-up. He got a late start to the 2026 season due to a knee injury. Rincones hit .240/.370/.430 with 18 long balls and 21 stolen bases at Lehigh Valley last year, and he's considered the Phillies' No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. With Garcia out at least two months with a torn lat, Rincones absolutely could see plenty of playing time in Philly's outfield going forward. He is making the start in right field on Friday and is batting seventh in his MLB debut in Milwaukee against the Brewers in a tough matchup against flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder has enough raw power from the left side of the plate to attract interest from those in deep-mixed leagues.

Adolis Garcia Placed on 60-Day Injured List With Lat Tear

The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Adolis Garcia (lat) on the 60-day injured list with a torn right lat, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. Garcia tore his lat trying to throw George Springer out at home plate on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays, and now he'll miss extended time. At the very least, Garcia will be out for two months while on the 60-day IL, and if he undergoes surgery, it wouldn't be surprising if we don't see him again in 2026. Gabriel Rincones and the newly acquired Derek Hill will report to Philly's big-league roster with Garcia injured. In addition to his injury, the 33-year-old Garcia has been a major disappointment in 2026 in his first year with the Phillies, hitting just .195 (45-for-231) with seven home runs, 21 RBI, 21 runs scored, and three stolen bases in 67 games across 259 plate appearances. In most single-year leagues, the two-time All-Star can be dropped to the waiver wire.

Adolis Garcia Pulled Early on Wednesday With Shoulder Injury

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis Garcia (shoulder) was removed from Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays early after pulling a muscle in his right shoulder area, according to Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Garcia is being evaluated further. The 33-year-old Cuban was holding his right arm after making a throw to home plate while trying to throw out George Springer in the seventh inning of the Phillies' eventual 7-4 win at the Rogers Centre. Garcia was replaced in right field by Steward Berroa after he went 0-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a strikeout. Until we know more about the severity of Garcia's shoulder injury, we'll consider him day-to-day. If the injury isn't serious, Garcia could be back on the field for the Phillies as soon as Friday's series opener in Milwaukee against the Brewers after a scheduled day off on Thursday. The two-time All-Star has continued to trend downward in 2026 in his first year in Philly, as he's currently hitting under the Mendoza Line with seven homers, 21 RBI, 21 runs, and three steals across his 67 games played.

Cristopher Sanchez Continues Dominant Season With 10-Strikeout Performance

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez continued his dominant 2026 season with another gem in Monday night's 5-2 win on the road at the Rogers Centre against the hosting Toronto Blue Jays. Sanchez allowed two earned runs on four hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out 10 in seven innings to win his eighth game of the season. The 29-year-old Dominican southpaw is the front-runner for the Cy Young award in the American League at this juncture, and he lowered his season ERA to 1.54 with his latest impressive outing on Monday night. Sanchez allowed just his fourth home run of the year in the outing, but he also struck out double-digit hitters for the fourth time in 2026. Since giving up a season-high six earned runs on April 23 against the Chicago Cubs, Sanchez has allowed just five earned runs in his last eight starts. He has a much more challenging matchup on tap this Sunday against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers, but Sanchez is a set-and-forget pitching asset in traditional fantasy baseball leagues.

J.T. Realmuto Back From Wrist Injury to Face Padres

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (wrist) is doing the catching for left-hander Cristopher Sanchez and will bat seventh on Wednesday against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Walker Buehler, according to MLB.com. Realmuto was hit on the left wrist by a pitch in Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and despite having a scheduled day off on Monday, he remained out for Tuesday's series opener against SD. The 13-year veteran is back in action for Game 2 of the series at Citizens Bank Park, but fantasy managers may want to continue to leave the struggling Realmuto on their benches. The three-time All-Star has shown his age in 2026 (35 years old) and is hitting just .220 (28-for-127) with two home runs, nine RBI, 11 runs scored, and a stolen base in 39 games played. Realmuto has only had three career at-bats against Buehler and is hitless against him. Since May 18, Realmuto has gone 6-for-29 (.207) at the plate with a solo homer, three walks, and seven strikeouts in 10 games played.

Aidan Miller  • 3B  •  Phillies

Aidan Miller Off the Stash Radar as 2026 Debut Remains Unlikely?

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Aidan Miller (back) appeared to be in serious consideration to potentially break camp on the major-league roster or compete for an early MLB debut. However, Miller sustained a back injury in February and has yet to take the field this season. While it appeared the team's No. 1-ranked prospect was making steady progress, the team announced last week that he would be shut down due to a setback. Earlier on Wednesday, the team announced that Miller will undergo a back procedure to address the issue. Given his current status, Miller is unlikely to be cleared to participate in live games before the end of the first half, which puts his chances of an MLB debut this season in serious question. When on the field in the upper minors, Miller has showcased elite upside, especially in the speed department, swiping 59 bags in 116 MiLB last summer. However, given his current status, Miller is only worth stashing in deeper 15+ team redraft leagues with several N/A spots.

J.T. Realmuto Expected to Return to Phillies Lineup on Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies manager Don Mattingly said that catcher J.T. Realmuto (wrist) is expected to return to the team's lineup on Wednesday, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Realmuto was removed early from Philadelphia's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday after taking a 97-mile-per-hour fastball off his left wrist. The Phillies had an off day on Monday, and Realmuto was held out of the team's game on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. Across 142 plate appearances so far in 2026, Realmuto is hitting .220/.296/.299 with two home runs, nine RBI, 11 runs scored, and one stolen base. His barrel rate has fallen to a career-worst 2.9%, making him a low-end starting option for fantasy managers in two-catcher leagues at best.

Aaron Nola Reinstated from Paternity List, Strikes Out Eight on Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was reinstated from the paternity list before his start on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres. The 32-year-old pitched well in his return to the mound, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight across five innings of work. It's been a rough season overall for Nola, who owns a 3-4 record with a 5.55 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts across 61 2/3 innings (12 starts). However, Nola has still posted a strong 17.4% K-BB rate. The underlying indicators point to poor luck for the veteran right-hander, as he's recorded a 4.20 FIP and 3.45 xFIP. Fantasy managers should proceed with caution given Nola's struggles over the past two seasons, but he could be a decent buy-low target in deeper leagues.

Alec Bohm Re-Emerging as a Quality Waiver-Wire Target After Strong May

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is off to a rough start to the 2026 season, hitting .210/.271/.335 with six home runs, 24 RBI, and 17 runs scored across 221 plate appearances. However, the 29-year-old's overall line is dragged down by a brutal showing in March and April, when he hit .151 with a .426 OPS across 119 plate appearances. Bohm's production bounced back to his established norms in May, as he slashed .277/.333/.439 with five home runs, 11 RBI, and 11 runs scored across 102 plate appearances last month. With a 6.4% career barrel rate and 18 stolen bases across 774 career MLB games, Bohm offers limited power and speed upside for fantasy managers. Still, Bohm remains a fixture in the Phillies' everyday lineup, and he's hit no lower than fifth in the batting order since May 13. As long as his early-season struggles are behind him, Bohm should provide batting average and quality counting stats for fantasy managers the rest of the way in 2026. In deeper leagues, Bohm's May bounce-back makes him a worthy waiver wire target despite his ugly overall slash line.

JT Realmuto is Removed with Wrist Contusion

Philadelphia Phillies catcher JT Realmuto (wrist) was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Realmuto was hit on the left wrist by a pitch during the third inning. He was replaced by Rafael Marchan behind the plate in the fourth inning. The Phillies are calling it a left wrist contusion, but further testing should help determine the severity of the injury. Realmuto was plunked by a pitch in his lone plate appearance of the game. For now, fantasy managers should consider Realmuto as day-to-day. Marchan should see a majority of the starts behind the plate if Realmuto misses any time.

Bryson Stott Hitless in Four Straight Games, Offensive Concerns Growing

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott continues to search for answers at the plate, hitting just .174 over his last seven games and going hitless in each of his last four contests. The recent struggles have dropped his season line to a .222/.270/.375 slash line with a .645 OPS across 51 games. Stott has still contributed five home runs, but his offensive approach has shifted this season. He is pulling the ball more frequently and has moved away from the all-fields profile that helped fuel his success in previous years. The former first-round pick should continue to receive regular playing time because of his strong defense and baserunning value. However, fantasy managers may want to consider other middle-infield options until signs of a turnaround begin to emerge.

Aaron Nola Goes on Paternity Leave List

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was placed on the paternity leave list on Friday. The right-hander will be away from the team for a few days while he welcomes a new member to his family. Nola is currently scheduled to take the ball against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Nola should be back in time for that game, so fantasy managers shouldn't need to worry about him missing a start. The right-hander has posted ugly numbers anyway, with a 5.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 56:18 K:BB ratio across 11 starts this season. In a corresponding move, reliever Nolan Hoffman has been recalled to take over the spot on the active roster. Fantasy managers should check back ahead of Tuesday's game for another update on Nola.

Cristopher Sanchez Makes History With Seven More Shutout Innings Against Padres

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez continued his dominant ways in Wednesday's series finale at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres in the team's 3-0 and made Phillies history by passing Grover Alexander for the longest scoreless-innings streak (44 2/3 innings). Sanchez was electric yet again against the feeble Padres offense, tossing seven shutout innings with six hits allowed, no walks, and nine strikeouts to lower his season ERA to league-best 1.47. The 29-year-old southpaw induced 18 swings and misses on the day and threw 67 of his 100 pitches for strikes. If he keeps going at this pace, Sanchez will most likely be the unanimous National League Cy Young winner in 2026. Along with his league-best 1.47 ERA, Sanchez is also carrying a 1.12 WHIP with 95 strikeouts and 16 walks in his 79 1/3 innings pitched across 12 starts. The Dominican hurler will end an amazing month of May in which he didn't allow a single run while walking just three and striking out 45 in 39 innings pitched over his five starts. Now that is dominance.

Brandon Marsh Out With Sprained Finger on Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (finger) sprained his right middle finger in Tuesday night's win over the hosting San Diego Padres at Petco Park and is sitting out of the series finale on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Adolis Garcia will make the start in right field and is batting seventh for the Phils versus Padres right-hander Walker Buehler. As of now, Marsh's finger injury isn't believed to be serious, and he's considered day-to-day. With an off day coming on Thursday, he could be right back in the starting nine for a showdown on Friday night in Los Angeles against the first-place Dodgers. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder still isn't going to provide fantasy managers with a ton of power (he has five homers in 181 at-bats), but he's currently batting a career-high .326 (59-for-181) with 24 RBI, 28 runs scored, and four stolen bases in a stacked Phillies batting order. Garcia is barely hitting over the Mendoza Line in 2025 in his first year with the Phils, but he has hit .250 with a 1.000 OPS in eight career at-bats against Buehler with a home run and three RBI.
