Trea Turner Back for Monday's Series Opener

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (knee) is back at shortstop and is batting second for Monday's series opener at home against the division-rival Miami Marlins and right-hander Janson Junk, per MLB.com. Turner fouled a ball off his right knee on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins and was held out of the series finale on Sunday at Target Field as a precaution. The veteran shortstop is ready to begin a new week and should be returned to starting lineups in traditional fantasy formats. The 33-year-old three-time All-Star and former Silver Slugger winner is hitting only .247 (122-for-493) after batting a league-high .304 last year, but he's three home runs and three stolen bases away from the fourth 20-20 season of his MLB career in his 12th year in the majors. Turner has gone 13-for-53 (.245) with a .675 OPS, only one home run, three doubles, four RBI, and seven runs scored so far in 13 games in August. He is searching for his first hit against Junk but has only had three career at-bats against him going into Monday's contest.

Trea Turner Sitting on Sunday With Knee Injury

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (knee) is out of the team's starting lineup for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota against the Twins, according to MLB.com. Turner fouled a ball off himself in Saturday's contest against the Twins and is dealing with a right-knee/ankle contusion. The good news is that he didn't require any X-rays following Saturday's game and appeared to be walking around fine in the clubhouse. The veteran shortstop expects to be fine and should be back in action for Monday's series opener at home against the division-rival Miami Marlins. Edmundo Sosa will start at the 6 on Sunday and will bat ninth against Twins right-hander Dean Kremer. Turner is currently slashing .247/.298/.398 with a .696 OPS, 17 home runs, 47 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and 82 runs scored in 120 games played across 533 plate appearances in 2026 in his 12th year in the big leagues. The three-time All-Star still has decent pop, but he's not running nearly as much and has shown plenty of signs of offensive decline as he nears the back end of his career.

Trea Turner Exits Early Due to Knee Injury

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (knee) left early during Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Turner exited the game after fouling a pitch off his right knee, according to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer. He was removed from the game in the eighth inning with the Phillies already leading big. The team was likely just being cautious, especially with a big lead on the scoreboard late in the contest. Before leaving, Turner went 1-for-3 with a single, a run scored, and a walk. Justin Crawford replaced him in the lineup while Edmundo Sosa took over at shortstop. Fantasy managers should check back after the game for another update on his injury. UPDATE: Turner bruised his right knee but didn't require X-rays and was walking around the clubhouse without any issue. He said it looked worse than it actually was.

Bryce Harper Playing Through Knee Soreness

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (knee) remains in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Harper continues to play despite dealing with knee soreness that has worsened since moving to the outfield, according to Charlotte Varnes. Harper fouled a ball off his knee before the All-Star break, and it hasn't stopped bothering him. He'll be at the designated hitter spot for the second time in three games on Monday. The Phillies will move things around and have Derek Hill in right field while Kyle Schwarber gets the start at first base. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor this situation closely. For now, Harper is playing, but he might need a stint on the Injured List.

Bryson Stott  • 2B  •  Phillies

Bryson Stott Moving to Third Base

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired All-Star infielder Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants on Monday, causing a shakeup on the Phillies' infield going forward, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Arraez will continue to play second base in Philly, and the team's first choice appears to be to move Bryson Stott to third base and Alec Bohm to first base. The domino effect means that first baseman Bryce Harper will be moving back to right field. The 28-year-old Stott already has eligibility in Yahoo leagues at second base and shortstop, so now he'll gain third-base eligibility to close out the 2026 season and for next year, which will definitely be a boost to his fantasy profile. The former first-rounder in 2019 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is currently hitting a modest .252/.317/.407 with a .723 OPS, eight home runs, 50 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 19 steals in 106 games and 409 plate appearances in 2026 in his fifth year in the big leagues with the Phillies. Stott has minimal power and on-base skills, but he's useful for infield depth in deeper fantasy leagues for his speed and positional versatility. He's rostered in exactly half of Yahoo leagues.

Bryce Harper Expected to Move to the Outfield

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper is expected to move back to the outfield to make room for recently acquired infielder Luis Arraez, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. Alec Bohm is set to move to first base, with Bryson Stott moving from second to third. Harper will move back to right field, a position he hasn't played since 2022. For fantasy purposes, it will definitely put more strain on the 33-year-old veteran physically, but he will also be gaining outfield eligibility to close out the 2026 season and for next year. The two-time MVP and nine-time All-Star heads into the new week slashing .255/.360/.497 on the year with an .858 OPS, 23 home runs, 66 RBI, 67 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 112 games across 472 plate appearances in his eighth year with the Phillies. Fantasy managers are hoping the move to the outfield will help Harper get back on track offensively, as he hit just .172 (15-for-87) with a .625 OPS, two homers, six doubles, a triple, 11 RBI, nine runs, 14 walks, and 31 strikeouts in 24 games in July, easily his worst month of the season so far.

Luis Arraez  • 2B  •  Phillies

Luis Arraez Shipped to Phillies in Major Trade

The San Francisco Giants are trading infielder Luis Arraez to the Philadelphia Phillies, according to The Athletic's Jason Stark. In this deal, the Phillies are also receiving bullpen arm Caleb Kilian and sending No. 9-ranked prospect Ramon Marquez and pitching prospect Marty Gair. Arraez was viewed as one of the top remaining hitters on the market and will bolster one of the most potent lineups in the National League. With the Giants this season, the infielder has posted a dominant .324 AVG with a .360 OBP and .440 SLG. He is in the 92nd percentile in xBA but has generated very soft contact, with a first percentile hard-hit rate and barrel rate. However, Arraez possesses elite eye at the dish, holding a low 4.5% K% and 7.9% whiff rate, both of which place him in the top percentile among qualified hitters. While managers should not expect his power totals to increase going forward, he should be put in prime scoring positions, batting in a lineup alongside Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. He is expected to have an everyday role at the keystone, which would push Bryson Stott to a utility role. Kilian should compete for low-leverage opportunities and is not expected to hold much fantasy value outside of deep 15+ team formats that reward holds. UPDATE: Francys Romero reports that Arraez is unlikely to debut with the Phillies until Tuesday's game against the division-rival Washington Nationals.

Luis Arraez Returns for Series Finale in San Diego

San Francisco Giants infielder Luis Arraez (leg) is back in the starting nine for Sunday's series finale against the division-rival San Diego Padres at Petco Park, starting at second base and batting leadoff against left-hander Kyle Hart, per MLB.com. Arraez was pulled from Friday's contest against his former team due to cramps in his leg, and he was also scratched from Saturday's loss as a precaution. Despite facing a southpaw to begin Sunday's game, the 29-year-old left-handed hitter and three-time batting champion should be returned to starting lineups in all traditional formats. Arraez could be on his way to a fourth batting title in 2026 in his first year in San Fran, as he's currently hitting a league-best .328 (136-for-415) with four home runs, 43 RBI, 10 steals, and 52 runs scored in 104 games and 459 plate appearances. While Arraez provides almost no power upside for fantasy managers, he's an excellent source of batting average, and his fantasy value could improve if he's dealt to a contender before Monday's Aug. 3 trade deadline.

Kyle Schwarber Returns To Phillies Lineup Friday

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (illness) is back in the starting lineup Friday against the Baltimore Orioles after missing the past two games with a gastrointestinal issue. Schwarber last appeared Monday against the Miami Marlins, reaching base twice and scoring a run. The 33-year-old returns with a .252 batting average, 33 home runs, 62 RBI, and a .910 OPS this season. The illness only cost him two games, and fantasy managers can put one of Philadelphia's top power hitters back into their lineups.

Kyle Schwarber Missing Second Game With Illness

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber (illness) is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day due to gastrointestinal issues on Wednesday versus the division-rival Miami Marlins, per MLB.com. Shortstop Trea Turner will serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff, with Edmundo Sosa playing shortstop and hitting out of the nine-hole against Marlins right-hander Ryan Gusto. Schwarber is dealing with a similar illness that kept him out for a series earlier this year, so hopefully he'll be back for Friday's series opener in Baltimore against the Orioles after the Phillies' scheduled day off on Thursday. The 33-year-old four-time All-Star leads the league in home runs (33) and strikeouts (157). He's an elite source of power from the left side, even though he has an elevated 34.4% strikeout rate in 457 plate appearances this year. Since taking part in the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break earlier this month, Schwarbs has gone just 8-for-35 (.229) with a homer, three doubles, three RBI, six runs, six walks, and 13 strikeouts.

Kyle Schwarber Out With Gastrointenstinal Issue on Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies All-Star outfielder Kyle Schwarber (illness) is out of Tuesday's lineup against the division-rival Miami Marlins due to a gastrointestinal issue that is similar to something he dealt with earlier this year, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. The Phillies are hoping Schwarber will only be out for a day or two. With Schwarber under the weather on Tuesday, first baseman Bryce Harper is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third, with Alec Bohm playing first base and hitting cleanup against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara. Edmundo Sosa is at the hot corner and is batting sixth for the Phils. The 33-year-old Schwarber is a must-start fantasy asset when he's healthy for his elite power from the left side of the plate and his high on-base percentage despite striking out 34.4% of the time. Going into Tuesday's action, Schwarbs still leads baseball in both home runs (33) and strikeouts (157) in 103 games across 457 plate appearances. He's carrying a modest five-game hitting streak right now that has seen him go 6-for-18 with two doubles, an RBI, and four runs scored.

Zack Wheeler  • SP  •  Phillies

Zack Wheeler Fine Physically After Off Night on Monday

Philadelphia Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said that right-hander Zack Wheeler told him he "felt fine physically" following his rough outing on Monday night in the 8-7 loss to the division-rival Miami Marlins, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. The 36-year-old veteran's velocity was noticeably down, and he lacked command. It was his shortest outing in more than four seasons and featured his second-lowest average velocity on his four-seam fastball. "Just one of those games," said Wheeler, who allowed five runs in those three innings Monday. "One of these days. It just wasn't coming out. I don't know. No excuse, just a bad game." Mattingly noted that Wheeler reported some nausea after his outing, so perhaps he's dealing with a little bug, which could help explain his bad outing against Miami. Despite the poor performance, the three-time All-Star has defied expectations in 2026 after being less than a year removed from a dangerous blood clot that revealed thoracic outlet syndrome, as he's currently 10-2 with a 2.53 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 123:23 K:BB in 103 innings over 17 starts. As long as Wheeler isn't injured, he'll look to bounce back in his next outing.

Bryson Stott Shows Signs of Life in Sunday's Win Over Yankees

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott had a much-needed big game at the plate in Sunday's 11-4 win over the visiting New York Yankees at Citizens Bank Park. Stott went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run, a double, and a season-high five RBI. The 28-year-old entered Sunday's series finale with a .268 average (19-for-71) with no home runs, four doubles, two triples, two RBI, eight runs scored, one stolen base, four walks, and 18 strikeouts in 19 games and 76 plate appearances in the month of July. The former 14th overall selection in the 2019 MLB draft out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is now slashing .252/.307/.405 with a .712 OPS, only eight home runs, 47 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and 41 runs scored in 100 games and 386 plate appearances in 2026 in his fifth year in the majors with the Phillies. Power has never been a big part of Stott's game, but he does continue to have fantasy value for his speed on the base paths. Fantasy managers will hope that Stott will fare better at the plate for the rest of July and going into August this weekend.

Trea Turner Blasts Career Homer No. 200 in Two-Homer Performance

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had quite the night on Monday in a 10-7 victory at Citizens Bank Park against his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Turner went 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, a double, a season-high five RBI, and two strikeouts. The 33-year-old veteran reached career home run No. 200 in the process and had his first multi-homer game of the season (20th of his career). During his current five-game hitting streak, Turner has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with four home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base to boost his season line to .246/.296/.396 with a .691 OPS in 433 plate appearances. He has tacked on 14 home runs, 40 RBI, 68 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases in 98 total games played. Turner has shown some signs of aging in 2026 with a 22.4% strikeout rate, which is his highest mark since his rookie season in 2015. He also ranks in the 48th percentile in hard-hit rate, the 37th percentile in barrel rate, the 20th percentile in chase rate, and the 32nd percentile in expected slugging. A full rebound may not be coming to close out the 2026 season.

Alex McFarlane  • RP  •  Phillies

Phillies Promoting No. 17 Prospect Alex McFarlane to Big Leagues

The Philadelphia Phillies are calling up right-handed pitching prospect Alex McFarlane from Double-A Reading on Monday, according to Milb Central. McFarlane, who is considered the team's No. 17 prospect at MLB Pipeline, will get his second call to the majors after posting a 2.06 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 12 saves, 47 strikeouts, and 18 walks in 35 innings pitched out of the bullpen. McFarlane was up briefly with the Phillies back in April, but he never appeared in a game. The 25-year-old stands at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds and should operate in more of a low-leverage role when he makes his MLB debut after making the full-time transition to a relief role in 2026. McFarlane can reach the upper-90s with his fastball, and he's a fastball-slider pitcher with ground-ball tendencies. He also has toyed with a split-change, but now that McFarlane is a full-time reliever, he'll most likely stick to his fastball-slider combo with plenty of swing and miss. For now, fantasy managers in single-year leagues can avoid the young reliever.

Aidan Miller  • 3B  •  Phillies

Is Aidan Miller Worth Stashing as Window to Return Nears?

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Aidan Miller (back) has been sidelined all season with a back injury that cropped up late last season. Although it didn't keep him off the field in 2025, it has prevented him from playing in any games so far in 2026, and the Phillies top-ranked prospect looks like a long shot to return before the end of July after undergoing a procedure at the beginning of June that had a six-to-eight-week return timetable, but has yet to begin a rehab assignment. The former first-rounder had a good chance to make an MLB debut this season after a strong 2025 campaign in which he hit 13 home runs and stole 52 bases before a late-season promotion to Triple-A, but a 2027 debut is looking more likely at this point. Either way, fantasy managers in redraft leagues should keep tabs on his progress because even if there is a small chance he can make it to the majors in 2026, the 22-year-old has a strong all-around skillset that would make him a viable fantasy asset when he finally arrives in the Show and would make him stashworthy ahead of a potential call-up.

Bryson Stott Can Outrun His First-Half Price

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott finished the first half at .249/.308/.393 with seven homers, 42 RBI, 37 runs, and 17 steals in 353 plate appearances. Not one caught stealing. That speed has kept the fantasy line useful while the bat slowly comes around. Stott hit .287/.374/.415 in June, and the contact underneath looks better than it did a year ago. His hard-hit rate jumped from 29.5% to 38.3%, with the barrel rate up from 5.1% to 6.8%. Statcast has him at a .264 expected average and .407 expected slugging percentage. Nothing here screams middle-of-the-order breakout, especially with Philadelphia usually batting him sixth and dropping him to ninth against Tarik Skubal on July 12. Still, 17-for-17 on steals with better contact is worth buying. A modest lift in average and power could make Stott a real second-half asset.

Cristopher Sanchez Not Listed Among Phillies Probables This Weekend

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez is not listed among his team's probable starters for their first series of the second half against the New York Mets this weekend, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. Sanchez last pitched for the Phillies last Saturday, but he started the All-Star Game on Tuesday for the National League and threw 34 pitches in his one inning of work. The 29-year-old has been one of the better pitchers in baseball so far this season, recording an 11-4 record with a 2.62 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 144 strikeouts across 127 1/3 innings (20 starts). While the Phillies could have chosen to push him back out onto the mound as quickly as possible, it looks as though the team will instead prioritize getting him a few extra days of rest before the true push for the playoffs begins. As a result, Sanchez's next start will likely come at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers on either Monday or Tuesday.

Zack Wheeler Not Scheduled to Pitch This Weekend

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler is not listed among his team's probable starters for their first series after the All-Star break against the New York Mets, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. The 36-year-old has been dominant so far this season, recording a 10-1 record with a 2.13 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 108 strikeouts across 93 innings (15 starts). Wheeler's last start came last Sunday, so Philadelphia could have chosen to give him the ball this upcoming weekend. Instead, it appears that the team will allow the 36-year-old a few extra days of rest coming out of the break. As a result, Wheeler's next start will likely come at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers on either Monday or Tuesday.

Will Jhoan Duran Face Regression in the Second Half?

Philadelphia Phillies right-handed closer Jhoan Duran heads into this week's All-Star break with eight straight successful save conversions and a 1.38 ERA (1.08 FIP), 0.92 WHIP, 24 saves, 50 strikeouts, and six walks in 32 2/3 innings out of the bullpen in his first full season with the Phillies. The 28-year-old Dominican hurler also was rewarded with his first All-Star appearance as one of the most dominant closers in the game in the first half. But should fantasy managers be worried about regression in the second half? The answer is no. Duran sports a 39.7% strikeout rate (100th percentile) and a career-best 4.8% walk rate. Although he's in just the sixth percentile in hard-hit rate, he sits in the 88th percentile in barrel rate, the 100th percentile in whiff rate, the 90th percentile in chase rate, and the 99th percentile in xwOBA, which proves he's still one of the most dominant relief arms in baseball on one of the better teams in the league. And if Duran can stay healthy in the second half, he should easily set a new career high in saves after reaching 32 saves with the Phils and the Minnesota Twins last year. Since his last blown save on June 9 against the Toronto Blue Jays, Duran hasn't allowed a run in 11 innings while picking up eight saves, striking out 17, and walking only one.
