The Philadelphia Phillies have reassigned infield prospect Aidan Miller to minor-league camp. Miller was invited to the major-league camp as a non-roster invite. The former 27th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft has spent most of his career in the lower levels of the minor leagues. Last season, Miller received his first extended look at the Single-A level and held a .275/.401/.483 slash line with 16 doubles and five home runs. He swiped 10 bags. He was then promoted to High-A where the 20-year-old held a .258/.353/.444 slash line with 12 doubles and six home runs. His strong play rewarded a brief five-game taste of Double-A where he tallied four hits. Given his strong performance in the lower levels of the Philadelphia system, Miller should have a good opportunity to open the 2025 campaign at the Double-A level.
Aidan Miller, Andrew Painter Invited To Spring Training
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Aidan Miller, right-hander Andrew Painter and outfielder Justin Crawford, who are the team's top three prospects per MLB Pipeline, have all received non-roster invites to big-league spring training. Miller, 20, was the 27th overall pick in 2023 started at Single-A in 2024 and finished with Double-A Reading. The right-handed hitter has the potential to hit for average and power while being a 20-steal threat in the majors, although he's likely to move off shortstop in the long run. Painter, 21, won't pitch in spring training while coming off Tommy John surgery in 2023. While he has front-of-the-rotation stuff, Painter isn't expected to be an option for the Phils until around midseason. Crawford, 21, is also a former first-rounder and appeared in last year's Futures Game after hitting a combined .313/.360/.444 with nine homers, 61 RBI and 42 steals at two minor-league stops in 2024.
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Aidan Miller has been promoted from High-A Jersey Shore to Double-A Reading. The team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, began the year at Single-A Clearwater and earned his most recent promotion to Double-A by hitting .258/.353/.444 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 258 plate appearances over 58 games at Jersey Shore this summer. The 20-year-old former 27th overall pick last year has been a fast riser in the Phillies' farm system and will conclude his second year of pro ball at Double-A. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-handed hitter not only has intriguing high-end raw power, but he has an advanced plate approach for his age. Miller should grow into more power as he matures into his body. He's currently the heir apparent to Trea Turner at the big-league level, but he could also be forced to move to third base down the road.
Philadelphia Phillies third base prospect Aidan Miller continued his strong August performance this past week, culminating with MLB.com's Prospect Team of the Week honors. Miller went 9-for-20 (.450) with four doubles, a triple, and a home run during the course of the week. For the month of August, the 20-year-old is slashing .342/.419/.618. The former first-rounder was promoted to High-A in June, and after some initial struggles, appears to have settled in nicely and should finish with some momentum heading into 2025. Miller isn't expected to debut until 2027 per MLB.com, but he's already made it to No. 27 on MLB.com's Top Prospects list and dynasty managers should keep a close eye on his performance next season.
Philadelphia Phillies third base prospect Aidan Miller has been heating up in the batter's box since the start of the month. Since August 1, Miller has carried an excellent .300/.364/.500 slash line with one home run, seven RBI, one double, and two triples. This is a great sign, as Miller posted a mere .215 AVG through July. Since moving up to High-A Jersey Shore in mid-June, the top prospect in Philadelphia has struggled with a .216/.325/.353 line, but his recent surge could suggest he is turning the corner. Miller opened the season at Single-A and posted a strong .275/.401/.483 line with five home runs and a 26:39 BB:K ratio. Dynasty managers should continue to monitor Miller as he moves through the lower levels of the minor leagues, as he is currently ranked as the 29th-best prospect in the sport on MLB.com.
Philadelphia Phillies third base prospect Aidan Miller will represent his organization in the All-Star Futures Game. The Phillies' No. 2 overall prospect is hitting .240 with seven homers and 34 RBI across two levels this season. Currently with High-A Jersey Shore, Miller has been a bit slow to adjust to a new level, hitting just .171 in 20 games at High-A. But the Futures Game nod shows how much potential Miller possesses and his high regard within baseball circles. The future is bright for the 20-year-old as he begins his professional baseball journey.
Philadelphia Phillies third base prospect Aidan Miller went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI on Thursday. Entering this game, Miller has not hit a home run in 13 games. Since joining High-A Jersey Shore on June 11, the former 27th overall pick has been struggling at the plate with a .171/.276/.303 line with just two home runs, eight RBI, and three stolen bases. Earlier this season, across 39 games at Single-A, Miller performed exceptionally well with a .275/.401/.483 line and five home runs, 26 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. MLB Pipeline ranks Miller as the former 27th overall pick as the 27th best prospect in all of baseball and projects him to not make the majors until 2027.
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop/third base prospect Aidan Miller went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI for High-A Jersey Shore on Sunday. Miller was promoted from Single-A to High-A last week and Sunday marked his first homer for Jersey Shore. Between both levels, he is now hitting .272 with 16 doubles, six homers, 30 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Miller, 20, was the club's first-round pick in 2023 and his power-speed combo should be intriguing to managers in dynasty leagues, even though Miller is still a few years away from a big-league debut.
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Aidan Miller went 2-for-3 with a walk for Single-A Clearwater on Wednesday. Miller's two hits both went for extra bases, one for a double and the other for a grand slam, finishing the day with four RBI and two runs scored. The 19-year-old is having a fine season thus far, slashing .319/.437/.569 with five home runs, 25 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. The 2023 first-round draft pick appears poised for a promotion, although he won't see the big leagues for a couple of years. Still, with a good power-speed combo, dynasty managers need to have him on their radar.
