Bryan De La Cruz News
Miami Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz (ankle) is playing right field and hitting fifth in the batting order on Tuesday against New York Mets left-hander Joey Lucchesi. De La Cruz is returning to Miami's starting lineup after he missed the last three games with right-ankle soreness. The 26-year-old Dominican outfielder is currently slashing .254/.302/.419 with a career-high 19 home runs, 31 doubles, 74 RBI, three stolen bases and 58 runs scored in 142 games in his third major-league season for the Fish. In 14 starts in the month of September, he's gone 12-for-50 (.240) with three home runs, a double, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Against southpaws in 2023, De La Cruz is hitting .270 (34-for-126) with three of his 19 long balls.
Miami Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz (ankle) departed Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves due to right ankle discomfort. The 26-year-old came up hobbled while legging out a groundball during the third inning. De La Cruz went 1-for-2 with an RBI and one run scored before Garrett Hampson replaced him in left field. He should be considered day-to-day until we know more on his status. De La Cruz has carried value in NL-only leagues as a fixture in Miami's heart of the order throughout the campaign, hitting .254 with 19 home runs, 74 RBI, 58 runs scored, and three stolen bases through 535 at-bats. Jesus Sanchez and Jon Berti could also slide to left to help plug the hole there if De La Cruz is facing an extended absence.
On Thursday, Miami Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz notched his 15th home run and 23rd double of the season while striking out once as the Marlins lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2. He's smacked three home runs in the last seven Miami contests. De La Cruz now leads his team in runs batted in with 58. At 26 years old, he is slashing .270/.317/.757 while striking 107 times in 400 trips to the plate in 2023.
