Aaron Nola News
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola had it working on the mound in Thursday's 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves. He picked up the win after 8.1 innings of work in which he allowed one run, picked up 10 strikeouts, and walked no one. After the start, the one-time All-Star owns a 3.56 ERA with a 2-4 record, 74 strikeouts, and a 0.94 WHIP across 10 games. It's looking like a rebound season after a disappointing 2021, where he posted a 4.63 ERA. Fantasy managers that predicted a bounce back should be happy with the results thus far.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola has started eight games this season, pitching to a 3.64 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 47 innings, and yet he has gone winless since Opening Day, garnering a disappointing 1-4 record for the season. Still, fantasy managers have to be encouraged by the early returns for the righty, as Nola has four quality starts in his last five outings with 39 strikeouts in those 32 1/3 innings. He's bound to be victimized by some extremely poor Phillies defense, but nevertheless the wins should begin rolling in for this fantasy ace.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola put together a wonderful performance against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. He allowed one hit through seven shutout innings and struck out nine batters. Nola only allowed one walk as well in what ended up being a no-decision for the young right-hander. The Phillies offense couldn't score a single run for him as they drop this game 1-0 to Milwaukee. Nola will look to add onto this performance against the New York Mets on Friday.

The draft stock on Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcherAaron Nola dropped a bit following a 2019 season that was solid, but far from outstanding. He really rewarded those who drafted him in 2020 with a stellar stat line that featured a 3.28 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and a huge 33.2% strikeout rate. That came on the back of him significantly changing his arsenal. In 2020, he threw four different pitches over 20% of the time. He has one of the game's best curveballs, a strong changeup and a really effective four-seamer and sinker combination. Nola was incredibly hard to predict and generated tons of whiffs and ground balls last year. Maybe the strikeout rate won't stay above 30% in 2021, but the ground-ball rate has always been high for him, so we should expect more of the same in that area. The floor is sky-high for this 27-year-old, and the ceiling is there as well after the changes he made in 2020. Nola is going outside of the top-10 starting pitchers in some fantasy drafts, making him one of the better values in the early rounds and a great guy to anchor your fantasy staff.
