Detroit Tigers outfielder Derek Hill (illness) has been battling a sinus issue, according to Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. Hill wasn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he was available off the bench for the game. He's also absent from Wednesday's starting lineup. Daz Cameron is covering center field for the second straight game on Wednesday with Kody Clemens and Austin Meadows as the team's corner outfielders. Hill has appeared in 29 games so far this year and he's slashing .228/.271/.291 with one home run, three stolen bases, three RBI and eight runs.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Derek Hill is leading off today vs. Framber Valdez and the Houston Astros. Hill has hit left-handed pitching pretty well to begin the season in limited action as he is 3-for-11 with a double. He was also solid in 2021 as he posted a .767 OPS against lefties. He makes for an interesting DFS and streaming option against Valdez as Valdez has allowed a 4.21 FIP against righties thus far in 2022.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Derek Hill (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Friday. He led off and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's rehab outing. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since Spring Training with a right hamstring strain. Hill is expected to be a reserve when he returns to action, but with his ability to rack up stolen bases (swiped 6-of-9 bags in just 49 games), the Tigers outfielder does have appeal in AL-Only leagues.
