Justin Crawford Knocks Two Hits in Spring Debut

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford went 2-for-3 with a strikeout in his spring training debut on Saturday afternoon. Crawford served as the leadoff hitter and knocked a double to center field to open the contest. Later in the game, Crawford would hit a single on a line drive. The team's top outfield prospect is currently the favorite to claim the starting center field role, and his hot start in camp further cements him as a starting option. Last season, the 22-year-old spent the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and held a .334/.411/.452 slash line with 23 doubles, seven home runs, and an eye-catching 46 stolen bases. While his power upside may be limited, Crawford could produce a high batting average with an elite stolen base total. He is a prime late-round option for those in standard leagues, as he should begin the season in an everyday role.

Justin Crawford Earns Invite to Spring Training

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford has earned an invite to spring training. Crawford is currently considered the team's No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and is the No. 54 overall prospect in the entire sport. Last season, the 17th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft spent his entire season with Lehigh Valley. Through 112 contests with the Iron Pigs, the outfielder posted a .334/.411/.452 line with an .863 OPS. During this stretch, Crawford hit 23 doubles, added seven home runs, and swiped an impressive 46 bags. In 2024, Crawford held a similar .313/.360/.444 line with 25 doubles, nine home runs, and 42 stolen bases across 110 games, placed between High-A and Double-A. Managers should expect Crawford to compete for the starting center field role in camp. If he does earn the job, he will carry sleeper appeal in category leagues given his elite contact skills and speed.

Phillies Planning to Start Justin Crawford in Center Field

With newly signed outfielder Adolis Garcia taking over in right field for the Philadelphia Phillies next season, the team is looking to use prospect Justin Crawford as a center fielder, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We believe so," president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said. "We'd like to have that happen. "If you're going to give Crawford an opportunity, you've got to give it to him. And that's where we are. We're going to give him an opportunity and have him play a lot." Brandon Marsh will likely be the left fielder, at least against right-handed pitchers. The Phillies are unlikely to add another outfielder this offseason. There's plenty to like about the 21-year-old Crawford in fantasy baseball after he hit .334/.411/.452 with seven homers and 46 steals at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2025. His defense is a work in progress, but for his speed alone in a stacked Philly lineup, Crawford's stock is on the rise. Per MLB Pipeline, Crawford is the Phillies' No. 3 prospect.

Justin Crawford Not Ready to Play Center Field?

The Philadelphia Phillies aren't convinced that outfield prospect Justin Crawford can play an average big-league center field, and many rival evaluators agree that he is better in left field, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. There is more long-term upside from Crawford, but he could rate below Brandon Marsh in center field right now. Crawford's offensive skill set is tailored for center field, so Gelb suggests the Phillies "might have to close their eyes and let it happen." If the 21-year-old can handle center, it would allow the team to use Marsh in the strong side of a platoon in either left or right field. Crawford is listed as the Phils' No. 3 prospect at MLB Pipeline, and he's in line to make his major-league debut in 2026 after slashing a strong .334/.411/.452 with seven home runs and 46 stolen bases at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Crawford could be a part-time corner outfielder at first, but there's time for him to develop better defensive skills to fit center.

Justin Crawford Heads to Injured List With Concussion

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford (concussion) was placed on Triple-A Lehigh Valley's 7-day injured list with a concussion, retroactive to September 5, after colliding with third baseman Otto Kemp. The Phils' third-ranked prospect was having an excellent season for the Iron Pigs, slashing .334/.411/.452 with a .392 wOBA, 133 wRC+, and 46 stolen bases in 112 games. If he returns when first eligible, he could play an additional handful of games at Triple-A before the season is out, and could also join the Phillies for their stretch run. If he does not debut this year, it's a good bet he'll be in the majors in 2026, and he'll bring excellent bat-to-ball skills and a ton of speed with him, which will make him very intriguing for fantasy.

Justin Crawford Goes Deep Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in an 11-9 loss against Triple-A Omaha. Crawford homered for the second consecutive game and has continued a really productive season. He's hitting .331/.408/.448 with six homers and 42 stolen bases. The speedy outfielder has been remarkably consistent throughout the year, hitting at least .290 in every month. Crawford has displayed a career-best walk rate that has allowed him to rack up so many steals. While he should make enough contact and the speed is obvious, the lack of a true power ceiling lowers the upside for fantasy a bit.

Justin Crawford Stays Hot at Triple-A

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford went 2-for-4 on Sunday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, including a solo home run and two runs scored. The Phils' third-ranked prospect has hit well all season, batting .328 on the year, but has been even hotter lately, slashing .358/.411/.537 with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs over his last 17 games. The speedy former first-rounder also has eight steals during that time, giving him 42 steals in 105 games in 2025. There doesn't appear to be much more for the 21-year-old to prove at Triple-A, so an opportunity just needs to present itself with the big league club. It should happen within the next month, so fantasy managers should be ready to pounce, and we should see his skills on full display regularly next year.

Justin Crawford Extends Hit Streak to Eight Games

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford went 2-for-4 on Wednesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, including a double, three RBI, one run scored, and a stolen base. The Phillies' third-ranked prospect is now the owner of an eight-game hit streak, and has hit safely in 17 of his last 20 games, going 25-for-70 (.357) over that stretch with a .944 OPS. The former first-round draft pick is slashing .331/.414/.438 on the year with 37 steals and a 53:79 BB:K in 96 games for the Iron Pigs. With as hot as he's been all year, it is somewhat surprising we haven't seen a call-up for the 21-year-old, but his speed could be a difference-maker down the stretch and in the playoffs, so a September debut is still very much in the cards.

Justin Crawford Continues to Succeed at Triple-A

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford has continued to find success and is making a strong case to join the Phillies for the stretch run. Over his last 11 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has posted a strong .333/.429/.361 line with an 11:6 K:BB and four stolen bases. While he is not known for being a power hitter, Crawford has shown strong contact skills with high-upside speed. Through 91 total games at Triple-A this season, the former 17th overall pick from the 2022 MLB Draft has posted a .327/.411/.423 line with 19 doubles and 31 stolen bases. He has only gone deep three times. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking to boost their stolen base total down the stretch should consider stashing Crawford, as he should be in the mix to debut in the majors before the end of the month.

Justin Crawford Hits Home Run No. 3, Nearing MLB Debut

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI during their contest against Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday evening. This was Crawford's third long ball of the regular season. This was also his second-straight game tallying multiple hits. Throughout his first 78 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the No. 48-ranked prospect in the sport has been nothing short of impressive, holding a .331/.414/.438 slash line with 18 doubles, three triples, and 31 stolen bases. He has held a solid 63:44 K:BB and has scored 57 runs. Last summer, Crawford spent most of his time with Double-A, where he posted a similar .331/.380/.455 line. Seeing Crawford continue to show his elite contact skills and speed at the top level of the minor leagues is an excellent sign for his long-term outlook. Given his production, he should be viewed as a top stash candidate going forward.
