Otto Kemp to Undergo Knee, Shoulder Surgeries

Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp (knee, shoulder) will undergo two surgeries this offseason. Kemp will have one to repair his left kneecap, and the other to clean out his left shoulder. The 26-year-old played through the knee injury for a few months after suffering the injury in the middle of June. It's unclear when he suffered the shoulder injury, but now he'll get both of the issues resolved. It's unknown if Kemp is going to be ready in time for spring training. His availability isn't a big issue for the Phillies, as Kemp is viewed as more of a depth piece in both the infield and outfield. Kemp slashed .234/.298/.411 with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 62 games with the Phillies in 2025.

Otto Kemp Optioned to Triple-A

The Philadelphia Phillies optioned infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley before Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals. Philadelphia made the move to clear room for the return of third baseman Alec Bohm (ribs) from the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old Kemp has provided defensive versatility with double-digit appearances in left field and at both corner infield positions. However, he hasn't offered much with the bat in his first 46 games in the majors. Across 161 plate appearances, Kemp has hit a subpar .228/.298/.359 with four homers, 17 RBI, 17 runs scored, and a 30.4% strikeout rate. He got off to a 4-for-23 start with 11 strikeouts in eight games this month before the Phillies sent him down.

Otto Kemp Dealing with Knee Injury

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Otto Kemp (knee) was held out of action on Wednesday due to a knee injury. The infielder fouled a ball off his knee during Tuesday's contest, and the team is opting to exercise caution with him. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status leading up to the game on Thursday evening against the Miami Marlins. Kemp joined the MLB roster earlier this month when Bryce Harper (wrist) hit the injured list. Over his first 10 games in the big leagues, Kemp has been quite productive, posting a .278/.333/.306 line with a double, four RBI, and a 10:1 K:BB. Earlier this season, Kemp was one of the most dominant hitters at Triple-A, boasting a .313/.416/.594 slash line with 19 doubles and 14 long balls. If Kemp were to remain out on Thursday, Edmundo Sosa will likely remain in the starting nine.

Otto Kemp Takes a Seat Against Marlins

Philadelphia Phillies rookie infielder Otto Kemp will take a seat on the bench for the start of Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Miami Marlins. Edmundo Sosa is starting at the hot corner and is batting eighth against Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur. This will be Kemp's first time sitting out since he was called up from the minors on June 7 in the wake of Bryce Harper's (wrist) placement on the injured list. The 25-year-old has been starting at third with Alec Bohm covering across the diamond at first base, and he's gone 10-for-36 (.278) with a double, four RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base. When Harper returns from the IL, it's expected that Kemp will return for more seasoning in the minors at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Per MLB Pipeline, Kemp is ranked as the Phillies' No. 24 prospect.

Otto Kemp Picks Up Four Hits, Steals a Base on Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Otto Kemp had a big day in an 11-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Kemp went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and a stolen base to help propel Philadelphia to the win. The rookie has been filling in at first base while Bryce Harper is dealing with a wrist injury and has looked good, hitting .345 with five runs, four RBI, and a steal across 29 at-bats. He is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues while Harper is sidelined.

Otto Kemp to Mostly Play First Base

The Athletic's Matt Gelb writes that the plan is for Philadelphia Phillies infielder Otto Kemp to play mostly first base moving forward. The Phillies want Alec Bohm back at third base. With Bryce Harper (wrist) currently on the 10-day injured list, Kemp got the start at first base in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Chicago Cubs and hit eighth in the batting order. The first four of Kemp's starts at the big-league level came at the hot corner, but he'll shift across the diamond for now with Harper sidelined. The 25-year-old is considered the team's No. 24 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and was hitting .313/.416/.594 with a 1.010 OPS, 14 home runs, 55 RBI, 49 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 58 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley at the time of his call-up. He's gone 3-for-14 with a run scored, a walk and five K's in his first four MLB games.

Otto Kemp Records First MLB Hit, Adds Two More in Win

Philadelphia Phillies infield/outfield prospect Otto Kemp recorded his first major league hit on Monday, finishing with three hits in the game in five at-bats, and he scored once in the 4-3 extra-innings win over the Cubs. The 25-year-old went hitless in his first five at-bats in the big leagues, and we'll see how he performs going forward now with some confidence under his belt. The Phils' 24th-ranked prospect was on fire prior to his call-up, slashing .313/.416/.594 with 14 home runs and 11 steals in 58 games. Kemp was called up when Bryce Harper (wrist) hit the IL, but if he continues to hit, Philadelphia may have some tough decisions to make when Harper returns. As for fantasy, Kemp could be a speculative add for his power and ability to steal bases in deep leagues, especially given his eligibility at both 3B and 2B on Yahoo!.

Otto Kemp Called Up by Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Saturday that they selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and placed first baseman Bryce Harper (wrist) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move with right-wrist inflammation. Kemp, the team's No. 24 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gets his first major-league call-up after hitting an impressive .313/.416/.594 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI, 49 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 58 games for Lehigh Valley. The 25-year-old has the ability to play third base, second base and the outfield, but he'll most likely have the best chance for playing time at the hot corner in Philly with Alec Bohm sliding over to first base with Harper sidelined. Kemp should share playing time at third with utility infielder Edmundo Sosa.

Otto Kemp Hits Home Run No. 14, Posts Third Straight Two-Hit Game

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Otto Kemp continued to swing a hot bat at Triple-A. On Tuesday evening against Charlotte, the infielder went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. This was his second home run over his last four games. This was also his third-straight multi-hit contest and fourth-straight contest tallying at least one hit. Through 55 games this season with Lehigh Valley, Kemp has been one of the most productive hitters at the Triple-A level, holding a stellar .324/.417/.616 line with 19 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, and 10 stolen bases. He received a brief look at Triple-A last season but tallied just nine hits across a 13-game stint. Fantasy managers in 14+ team leagues should continue to view Kemp as a viable stash candidate. If he continues this current pace, he should get the call to Philadelphia early in the second half of the season.

Otto Kemp Blasts Home Run No. 11 on Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Otto Kemp went 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBI, a stolen base, and his 11th home run of the season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. The 11 home runs lead all players in the International League, and his 39 RBI are just one behind Boston's Marcelo Mayer. The Phils' 24th-ranked prospect has been hitting the ball well all season, and now owns a superb .329/.435/.624 slash line. The 25-year-old appears to be on the precipice of a major league debut, and with his ability to hit the long ball, he could have a fantasy impact hitting alongside the likes of Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, and company, so managers looking for a potential offensive boost should consider stashing the right-handed slugger ahead of a call-up.
