Adam Plutko Eyeing MLB Return

Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Adam Plutko is eyeing a return to the big leagues after spending the last two seasons with LG of the KBO. His stint overseas was a big success as the right-hander worked to a 2.39 ERA across 28 starts in the 2022 season before tossing a 2.41 ERA in 21 starts in the 2023 campaign. Now 32, Plutko has been unable to maintain success in the big leagues. He most recently worked to a 6.71 ERA across 38 appearances with the Orioles in the 2021 season and owns a 5.39 ERA across 88 MLB outings (37 starts), most of which came as a member of the Guardians. A successful return from the KBO to the big leagues isn't without precedence as the right-hander should be able to garner some interest following his work overseas.

Adam Plutko Earns First Save Of Season Monday

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 9-7 win over the Astros. Plutko entered the game in the ninth inning up by three with one out and runners on first and second. He issued a walk to load the bases, then allowed a sac fly to make the game 9-7, but got a fly out to end the game. Plutko has not seen many save opportunities this season and owns a 5.45 ERA, so it is unlikely that he will start seeing more high-leverage situations. As such, his fantasy value remains very limited.

Adam Plutko Implodes In Monday Loss

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko turned in another disappointing outing to bring the O's loss streak to 14 in Monday's 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Twins. Plutko entered the game to pitch the 10th inning with the game tied and an automatic runner on second base. He induced a groundout to get the first out while the runner advanced to third. He then allowed that runner to score on a wild pitch, making the score 2-1. He struck Andrelton Simmons out for the second out, but then allowed a solo home run and a double before getting the third out. The inability to come up in the clutch or produce fundamentally-sound results is something that has plagued the entire O's team this season, and Plutko has not been an exception. He is now 1-2 with a 4.61 ERA over 27 1/3 innings pitched. He does not hold much fantasy value at this time given his current role in the bullpen.

Adam Plutko Turns In Second Straight Poor Outing Wednesday

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko did not pitch well and was charged with a blown save in Wednesday's 9-7 loss to the Rays. Plutko came on to pitch in the seventh inning up by three with one out and a runner on second. He gave up an RBI single, allowing the inherited runner to score, then allowed a two-run home run to tie the game. He then got an out but hit the next batter before getting removed rom the game. Plutko's final line was 1/3 IP with two runs allowed on two hits (including a solo home run) and a hit batter. He has generally pitched well this season but has now allowed six earned runs in his last 1 1/3 IP. Plutko currently has little fantasy value given that he is not a high-leverage situation relief pitcher.

Adam Plutko Pitches Three Innings Tuesday

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Adam Plutko had a decent outing in Tuesday's 2-7 loss to the Yankees. Plutko came on in the fourth inning down by a run with no outs and the bases loaded. He got a double play out of the gate, then allowed two hits, but settled down from there. He ended up allowing two runs to score, but both runners were inherited. Plutko's final line was three innings pitched with two hits allowed, no walks, and no strikeouts. He was traded to the O's late in spring training and has worked out of the bullpen so far, but has spent most of his career as a starter. Plutko may get some start opportunities at some point if he continues to pitch well and some of the O's starters continue to struggle.

Adam Plutko Earns Win In Orioles Debut

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Adam Plutko made his debut for the team on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox. He came in after starting pitcher Matt Harvey and went on to pitch 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and no walks or runs while striking out two. Plutko was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Orioles for cash about a week ago. The 29-year-old had been an occasional starter for the Indians for the past three years. Last year, over 10 games (including four starts), he posted a 4.88 ERA and 1.337 WHIP while averaging just 4.9 K/9. The Orioles have a shaky, unproven rotation, so Plutko could earn some starts later in the year. For now, he should serve as one of the team's primary long relievers.

Adam Plutko Traded To Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Adam Plutko from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations on Saturday, according to Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com. Coming off a down year in 2020 where he posted a 4.88 ERA and 12.9 percent strikeout rate in 27 2/3 innings, Plutko has looked slightly better this spring with a 26.8 percent strikeout rate in nine innings of work. He's still allowing too many baserunners however, as he has surrendered five runs on 12 hits and two walks this spring. Plutko can have good outings, but they come inconsistently, which makes him at best a streaming option in deeper-mixed and AL-only leagues.

Bradley Zimmer Joins Playoff Roster, Adam Plutko Left Off

Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer has made the clubs wild-card series roster against the Yankees, with right-handed pitcher Adam Plutko not among the group. Zimmer has not appeared since Aug. 20 as the club has attempted to give him at-bats at their alternate training site after he posted a .603 OPS in 50 plate appearances to begin the year with Cleveland. Seeing as how Cleveland is set to face right-handed starters Gerrit Cole and Masahiro Tanaka to begin the series and likely dont need the extra arm of Plutko in a short series, it may be a brief stint for Zimmer, who figures to be a bat of off the bench for the Tribe.

Adam Plutko Gets Rocked In Loss

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Adam Plutko (1-2) allowed seven runs on five hits (two home runs) and two walks while striking out just one batter across 3 1/3 innings as he took the loss Friday versus the Tigers. Friday's start figures to be Plutko's last one for a while as the Indians are likely to consider recalling Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger from the team's alternate training site soon which would push Plutko out of the rotation. He's pitched very poorly in his recent starts, and doesn't hold much value in most league formats.

Adam Plutko Knocked Around In Short Outing

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Adam Plutko allowed three runs on six hits, striking out one across 2 2/3 innings in Sunday's 8-5 win over Detroit. He did not factor in the decision. Plutko took Mike Clevinger's spot in the starting rotation again Sunday. He was able to get through the first two innings unscathed but quickly ran into trouble in the third. Depending on whether or not Clevinger and Zach Plesac (not injury related) are reactivated for the next turn around the rotation, Plutko could draw another start against Detroit on Thursday.
