Addison Reed News

Addison Reed To Go On Paternity List

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed will go on the paternity list to finish this week and will not travel west with the team after Wednesday's game. He'll have until Sept. 25 to return to the team for the final homestand of the season. Reed has struggled this year to a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and career-low 7.0 K/9 over just 54 innings. A popular sleeper for saves to begin the year, Reed hasn't managed to save any games in 2018.

Addison Reed To Start Rehab Assignment Friday

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed (elbow) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Friday. He's also slated to pitch on Sunday. Reed has struggled in a setup role for the Twins this year and has a bloated 4.83 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 in 41 innings. Hopefully the mechanical tweaks he's made will help him be more successful when he returns from the disabled list, but he can be ignored in fantasy leagues for now.

Addison Reed Has Successful BP Session

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed (elbow) threw a successful batting practice session on Tuesday. Reed was a sleeper closer pick in spring drafts, but he hasn't lived up to expectations with the Twins with his 4.83 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 41 innings. He's making some mechanical adjustments, so hopefully he'll return and be more successful. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues for now.

Addison Reed To Face Hitters Tuesday

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed (elbow) will face hitters in live batting practice on Tuesday. Reed has been making mechanical tweaks in hopes that he can rebound from his 4.83 ERA and 1.44 WHIP when he returns. He should return to a setup role, but until he shows better results, he shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.

Addison Reed Making Delivery Tweaks

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Friday and is making tweaks to his delivery in hopes of seeing some improvement. He will likely throw another bullpen on Sunday. Reed was a popular pick to take over for closer Fernando Rodney in the ninth at some point this year, but that just hasn't happened with Reed struggling and then getting hurt. He has a 4.83 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 over 41 innings this season. You can continue to leave him on the waiver wire.

Addison Reed Dealing With Elbow Impingement

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed's (elbow) MRI exam showed an elbow impingement, according to manager Paul Molitor. Reed's poor results in 2018 may be attributed to his elbow injury, but it's hard to say. He hasn't panned out as a potential closer for the Twins, and incumbent closer Fernando Rodney has been good enough to keep the role. Reed has a 4.83 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and just 8.1 strikeouts per nine innings this year. He can be dropped in most leagues now if he wasn't already.

Addison Reed Placed On DL

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Addison Reed (tricep) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with tightness in his right triceps. Alan Busenitz was recalled from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. It's been a nightmare of a year for Reed as the eighth-inning setup man to Fernando Rodney, as he's 1-5 with a 4.83 ERA, 37 strikeouts and 13 walks in 41 innings. Many believed Reed would eventually take over the ninth-inning gig from the shaky Rodney in Minnesota, but that just hasn't happened. Reed can be dropped in all leagues and there is no timetable for his return. Ryan Pressly or Trevor Hildenberger would be the next men up for saves if Rodney gets injured.

Addison Reed Might Not Reclaim Setup Role Soon

Minnesota Twins reliever Addison Reed has pitched just once over the past eight days and told the media he felt "refreshed" after his short break from game action. Reed has posted a 9.45 ERA over his past seven outings, prompting the team to give him a small break and remove him from the setup role. Manager Paul Molitor told the press, Were just trying to reset him. He kind of went through a tough stretch of games there. I think sometimes youve just got to make a little adjustment on how youre using a guy, and then you try to get him back on track. It appears the team will keep Reed out of the setup role for the near future, which hurts his fantasy value for now. At the beginning of the season, many felt Reed would push current closer Fernando Rodney for save chances but that has not been the case this year. Rodney's hold on the ninth-inning role is as firm as ever.

Addison Reed Feeling Better Wednesday

According to Minnesota Twins manager Paul Molitor, reliever Addison Reed (illness) is feeling much better on Wednesday after being sent home early on Tuesday due to a bout with strep throat. Reed will presumably be ready to occupy his role as setup man in the Twins' bullpen for Wednesday's series finale against the Houston Astros. Reed has made five appearances for the Twins this season, posting a 1.42 ERA, one hold, and eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings of work.

Addison Reed Signs With Twins

Free-agent relief pitcher Addison Reed signed a two-year deal with the Minnesota Twins, sources tell Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The deal is pending a physical and is for $16.75 million. Reed may fight for saves in Minnesota with new addition Fernando Rodney, as Reed has saved up to 40 games in the past. He had a 2.84 ERA in 2017 between the Mets and Red Sox, saving 19 games for New York.
