Braves Sign Adeiny Hechavarria, Among Others

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent infielder Adeiny Hechavarria to a minor-league deal on Monday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. The Braves also signed right-handers Daniel Martinez, Nolan Martinez, Zach Mort and Jon Olczack, left-handers Brian Moran and Domingo Robles and outfielders Kevin Pillar, Magneuris Sierra and Forrest Wall. The 33-year-old Hechavarria spent the last two years in Japan playing for the Chiba Lotte Marines. The utility infielder from Cuba last played in the big leagues in 2020 with the Braves and hit .254/.302/.305 with a .607 OPS, no homers, two RBI and seven runs scored in just 27 games. Hechavarria will strictly serve as infield depth for Atlanta and won't be on the fantasy radar.

Adeiny Hechavarria Still Dealing With Sore Oblique

Atlanta Braves infielderAdeiny Hechavarria (oblique) is still dealing with some tightness in his left oblique, but he may return to Grapefruit League action over the weekend. The team does not believe it is an ailment that will keep the 30-year-old out for an extended amount of time. Nevertheless, Hechavarria is only worthy of fantasy consideration in NL-only formats, as he has a career slash line of .253/.290/.352.

Adeiny Hechavarria Scratched With Oblique Tightness

Atlanta Braves shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria was scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit League lineup with left oblique tightness. There has been no word yet on the severity of the ailment, but the veteran infielder may not be ready for Opening Day. The 30-year-old signed with the Braves midway through last season, slashing .328/.400/.693 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 24 games. He is only worthy of fantasy consideration in deeper NL-only formats, even though he plays in a daunting lineup.

Adeiny Hechavarria Joining Braves

The Atlanta Braves agreed to a deal with shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria on Friday, according to a source. In corresponding moves, the Braves are optioning infielder Johan Camargo and outfielder Adam Duvall and recalling pitcher Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett. With Dansby Swanson (foot) missing 22 games with a right foot contusion and no timetable for a return, Hechavarria will should see frequent playing time at shortstop, but he was hitting a weak .204/.252/.359 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 60 games for the Mets this season. He's probably only worth a roster spot for those in need of middle infield help in NL-only leagues.

Adeiny Hechavarria Could See Extended Playing Time

New York Mets infielder Adeiny Hechavarria is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Robinson Cano (quad) and Jeff McNeil (hamstring) are both on the 10-day injured list, so the Mets are lacking depth at second base. Hechavarria is going to start just about every game until the Mets get some players back. He's not hitting much right now, but could be on the radar in some NL-only leagues. Hechavarria will bat eighth and play second base versus lefty Gregory Soto on Friday.

Mets Sign Adeiny Hechavarria

The New York Mets signed free-agent shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training on Sunday, according to a source. Hechavarria is a defense-first infielder that will provide veteran depth behind starter Amed Rosario. Hechavarria is a career .254 hitter with a .635 OPS over seven seasons in the majors. He hit .247 with six home runs and a .624 OPS in 94 games with three different teams in 2018. Hechavarria is no lock to make the Opening Day roster and can be ignored in most leagues.

Adeiny Hechavarria Smacks First Home Run With Yankees

Seeing regular action since arriving with the New York Yankees at the beginning of this month, shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria entered Tuesday night's game as a defensive substitution. He would eventually get a plate appearance in the ninth inning and subsequently drilled a solo home run, just his fifth of the season and first in nearly a month. While Hechavarria is with the club primarily for his defensive skills, he could become even more valuable if he can occasionally pick up a hit or RBI.

Adeiny Hechavarria Traded To Yankees

The New York Yankees continue to bolster their playoff roster as they acquired shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. This is solely a depth move for the Yankees, although Hechavarria could see playing time in the short-term due to Didi Gregorius' foot injury. Hechavarria is carrying a .254 average on the season to go along with four home runs and 29 RBI. His infield defense is far more valuable than his bat, but he should be able to get into the lineup fairly regularly over the next few days until Gregorius returns. Those in deep leagues could stream him for a couple games, but he really has no long-term fantasy value at this point.

Adeiny Hechavarria Traded to Pirates

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria has been traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Seelinger. The Rays designated Hechavarria for assignment on Wednesday, but it wasn't because of poor play. He's a solid defender and is hitting .258/.289/.332 with three home runs and 26 RBI in 61 games with the Rays this season. This move could make Hechavarria attractive enough to own in NL-only and some deeper leagues.

Adeiny Hechavarria Designated For Assignment

The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Adeiny Hechavarria for assignment. The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for newly acquired Tommy Pham. The Rays had said previously that they wanted to have Willy Adames as their everyday shortstop going forward and with Hechavarria DFA'd, he will likely see the majority of starts. Adames has struggled a bit his rookie season, batting just .200 with three home runs and nine RBI over 34 games. However, he has massive potential and could be a franchise cornerstone for the Rays going forward. As for Hechavarria, his fantasy potential all relies on which team he signs with, assuming he is released.
