The Rays had said previously that they wanted to have Willy Adames as their everyday shortstop going forward and with Hechavarria DFA'd, he will likely see the majority of starts. Adames has struggled a bit his rookie season, batting just .200 with three home runs and nine RBI over 34 games. However, he has massive potential and could be a franchise cornerstone for the Rays going forward. As for Hechavarria, his fantasy potential all relies on which team he signs with, assuming he is released.
