Andre Ethier Announces Retirement

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier officially announced his retirement on Wednesday. He played all 12 of his seasons with the Dodgers and made the All-Star team twice. He will finish with a total of 162 home runs, 687 RBI and a .285 average. Ethier played in just 36 games the last two years due to multiple injuries.

Andre Ethier Reiterates Plans To Continue Playing

Free-agent outfielder Andre Ethier said reports of his retirement Sunday are "totally untrue." He also said his back is healthy and teams are already showing interest in him for the 2018 season. Because of various serious ailments the last two seasons, Ethier has managed to play in just 64 games with the Dodgers. Los Angeles recently made the 35-year-old a free agent, though, and he'll likely have to settle for a one-year deal in the American League as more of a designated hitter type. Ethier batted only .235 with two homers and three RBI in 34 at-bats in 2017, but he can provide a decent left-handed bat off the bench against right-handers. He won't be much of a fantasy option no matter where he lands.

Andre Ethier Planning To Play In 2018

Free-agent outfielder Andre Ethier plans to continue his playing career in 2018. Ethier became a free agent when the Dodgers bought out his option for 2018. He may be a better fit in the American League at this point in his career. Wherever he lands, the 35-year-old will almost certainly be a part-time player, severely limiting his fantasy value.

Andre Ethier Hits Free Agency After Dodgers Buyout

An era ended on Monday when the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to pay outfielderAndre Ethier a $2.5 million buyout rather than his 2018 option of $17.5 million. He's played for the Dodgers for12 seasons and is only one of two players (the other being Clayton Kershaw) who's been around for the current five-year playoff run. But Ethier had been injured for much of the last two seasons, returning in time for the playoffs in September. He knocked in the only run of the Dodgers fateful World Series Game 7. He can still hit, though, and will likely land with a team that could use his veteran presence.

Yasiel Puig Bats Cleanup; Chase Utley, Andre Ethier, Joc Pederson Starting

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielderYasiel Puig is being rewarded for his three walks in Game 2 by getting to bat cleanup in Game 3of the Championship Series against the Cubsat Wrigley. The Cuban slugger, who was demoted to the minors just last year, is slashing .438/.571/.875 in the postseason. He's posted career bests in both walks and strikeouts and has stopped swinging outside the strike zone. He'll be joined by his fellow 2015 Dodger outfielders Andre Ethier (LF) and Joc Pederson (CF). Ethier is batting fifth and Pederson is batting seventh. Each has one AB in the NLCS with no hits between them. Chase Utley will be starting at second base and hitting sixth. Pederson is hitless versus Game 3 starter Kyle Hendricks, while Puig, Utley and Ethier each have a hit against him.

Andre Ethier Starting On Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier will see a start Friday in left against Nationals right-hander Edwin Jackson. Eithier is 5-for-17 lifetime against Jackson with two HR. He'll bat eighth. Ethier is playing his final days as one of the longest-serving and most popular Dodgers player ever. He'll see some game action as they save some starters for the playoffs, against righties exclusively, but can be ignored in all fantasy formats.

Andre Ethier To Get Call-Up Despite Neck Woes

Andre Ethier is experiencing a sore neck, but will still be called up Friday when rosters expand. He's been battling injuries for two years and hasn't seen any MLB action in that time. He's safe to ignore and won't get any regular playing time unless Dave Roberts wants to rest his regulars in the final weeks.

Andre Ethier Continuing Rehab Without Issue

Andre Ethier went 0-for-2 with a walk and two strikeouts in his third game for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday. The greater news is his back gave him no problems during the six innings he played in the outfield. Ethier has been out of action for most of two seasons now and these are his last days as a Dodger. He's not relevant in all but the deepest formats, but anything is possible with the magic the Dodgers are weaving these days.

Andre Ethier To Begin Rehab On Saturday

Andre Ethier, one of the few remaining players from the 2013 squad that started the Dodgers' current playoff run, went through a simulated game on Tuesday and is ready to begin his rehab. The outfielder has been out with a back injury all season and missed most of last year with a broken leg. He'll join the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for his rehab assignment starting on Saturday. Ethier hasn't been fantasy relevant for a long time and any late-season call-up is unlikely to change this except in the deepest leagues with huge benches.

Andre Ethier Won't Be Back Until After the All-Star Break

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier is still on the long road to recovery from lingering back issues that have sidelined him since late in spring training. Manager Dave Roberts said that the veteran outfielder has yet to be cleared for baseball activities, and the team does not expect him back until after the All-Star break. Ethier missed a large portion of last season with an injury and appears in danger of doing the same this year. Despite his career slash line of .285/.359/.463, the injury-riddled outfielder will likely hold little fantasy value when he does return.
