Dodgers Re-Sign Veteran Infielder Miguel Rojas to One-Year Deal

Veteran infielder Miguel Rojas and the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million deal on Wednesday, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes of El Extrabase. The World Series hero will spend another season in Dodger blue as a backup utility infielder. Last year, Rojas filled in as needed and slashed .262/.318/.397 with seven home runs, 35 runs, 27 RBI, five stolen bases, and a 100 wRC+ across 317 plate appearances. Once he retires, he's expected to remain in the organization and move into the player-development department. From a fantasy perspective, Rojas is only viable in the deepest of leagues or as a short-term injury replacement for your middle or corner infielders.

Shohei Ohtani to Play for Team Japan in 2026 World Baseball Classic

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani announced on his Instagram account that he will represent Team Japan again in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Ohtani will suit up for his native Japan again after winning two straight World Series titles with the Dodgers and back-to-back National League MVP awards. Ohtani and Team Japan will be defending their WBC title in 2023, when they beat the USA in the final. The 31-year-old started that game as the designated hitter for Japan before closing out the contest on the mound, striking out then-teammate Mike Trout to end it. The 2026 WBC will begin on March 5 and will take place in four cities: Houston, Miami, Tokyo, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ohtani has been an All-Star in each of the last five seasons and has now won four MVP awards, two World Series rings, and was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Shohei Ohtani Wins his Fourth MVP Award

The legend of Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani continues to grow, as he was named the National League Most Valuable Player on Thursday night for the second straight season. Ohtani has now won four MVP awards, with his first two coming with the Los Angeles Angels. He joined Roger Maris (1960-61 Yankees) as the only players to win the MVP in each of their first two seasons with a team and Joe Morgan (1975-76 Reds) as the only players to win both an MVP and the World Series in back-to-back seasons. The 30-year-old hit .282/.392/.622 with a career-high 55 homers to go with 25 doubles, a career-high nine triples, and 102 RBI while also scoring a league-best 146 runs. His 1.014 OPS and 179 OPS+ also led MLB. Ohtani didn't debut as a pitcher for L.A. until June 16, but he finished with a 2.87 ERA and 145 ERA+ (45% better than league average) while striking out 62 and walking only nine in 14 starts (47 innings). We may never see a player of Ohtani's caliber ever again.

Tommy Edman to Have Ankle Surgery Next Week

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman/outfielder Tommy Edman (ankle) will undergo surgery on his right ankle next week, according to executive vice president and general manager Brandon Gomes. Barring a setback, Edman is expected to be ready around the start of spring training in February, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. The 30-year-old switch-hitter has had issues with the same ankle over the last couple of seasons, but hopefully the surgery will alleviate any concerns he might have had going forward. Edman has won World Series rings with L.A. in his first two seasons with the team while hitting .229/.280/.392 with a .672 OPS, 19 home runs, 69 RBI, 69 runs, and nine steals in 134 regular-season games. He hasn't been all that relevant in fantasy, but he has stepped up in the playoffs when it matters most the last two seasons, as Edman has hit .282 with 33 hits, four homers, 20 RBI, and 16 runs scored for the Blue.

Shohei Ohtani Headlines List of NL Silver Slugger Winners

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani headlines the list of the National League Silver Slugger award winners for the 2025 season, according to David Adler of MLB.com. The other players in the NL to win the award on Thursday were New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (first selection), Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (second), San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (third), Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (first), Mets outfielder Juan Soto (sixth), Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (first), Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (second), Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman (first), and St. Louis Cardinals utility player Alec Burleson (first). The Dodgers were named the best slugging team in the NL after pacing the league in runs (825), homers (244), walks (580), OPS (.768), and total bases (2,415).

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Named World Series MVP

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named the 2025 World Series MVP on Saturday night after the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in 11 innings at the Rogers Centre to win back-to-back championships. After going six innings for his second win of the World Series on Friday night in Game 6, Yamamoto tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief on zero days of rest on Saturday to cap off an amazing performance in the Fall Classic. In his first start of the series, Yamamoto threw a complete game, his second straight of the postseason. The 27-year-old Japanese hurler threw 17 2/3 innings over three appearances in a week to win MVP honors for the Blue. He went 3-0 against Toronto with a 1.02 ERA and became just the 14th pitcher in history to record three wins in a single World Series, and the first since Randy Johnson did it for the Diamondbacks in 2001.

Tyler Glasnow Pitches Through Side Soreness in Game 7 Victory

The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya reported before the Los Angeles Dodgers' Game 7 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday to win back-to-back World Series championships that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (side) had been dealing with discomfort in his side, according to FOX Sports' Tom Verducci. Despite starting Game 3 and closing out Friday's Game 6 win, the hard-throwing right-hander appeared in Game 7 on Saturday in relief and threw 2 1/3 frames, allowing an earned run on three hits while walking none and striking out two. It was the first time that the 32-year-old had ever pitched on back-to-back days in his professional career. In addition to Glasnow, the Dodgers used starters Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the 5-4, 11-inning victory at Rogers Centre. In his 21 1/3 innings pitched (three starts) during this year's postseason, Glasnow gave up six runs (four earned) on 15 hits with 11 walks, 25 strikeouts, a hold, and a save.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Available for Game 7

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto has volunteered to pitch out of the bullpen in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night. The 27-year-old is ready to go after throwing nearly 100 pitches during his start on Friday. He reportedly played catch on Saturday and is available if needed out of the bullpen. If he does pitch, Yamamoto is likely on a short leash considering he pitched deep into Friday's game. It appears it'll be an all hands-on-deck type of situation for Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Andy Pages on the Bench for Game 7

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages is out of the starting lineup ahead of Game 7 of the World Series versus the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Pages will be out of the lineup for the third straight game. He has struggled with the bat going 4-for-20 at the plate during the postseason. The Dodgers need their best players in the lineup for this series deciding contest. That being said, Tommy Edman will take over in center field while Miguel Rojas plays second base against right-hander Max Scherzer on Saturday.

Shohei Ohtani to Start Game 7 of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani will start on the mound in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday at the Rogers Centre against the hosting Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced. Ohtani will be pitching on short rest in the winner-take-all game. The Japanese superstar started the Game 4 loss in Los Angeles, going six innings and giving up four earned runs on six hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out six. In Ohtani's first three career postseason starts this year as a starting pitcher, he's allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits (one homer) while walking five and fanning 25 in 18 innings pitched. He's gone exactly six innings in each of his three starts versus the Phillies, Brewers, and Blue Jays, although he's likely to come short of that on Saturday on Saturday as the Dodgers look to piece things together as they go for back-to-back World Series championships.

Mookie Betts Hitting Cleanup in Game 6 of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers struggling shortstop Mookie Betts is being moved from the two-hole in the batting order to cleanup for a must-win Game 6 of the World Series on Friday night in Toronto against the Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman. Catcher Will Smith will occupy the No. 2 spot behind Shohei Ohtani. Although Betts managed 20 homers during the regular season, he hit just .258 (152-for-589), a stark dropoff after he batted .289 in 2024. The 33-year-old eight-time All-Star and former MVP has hit only .234 (15-for-64) in 15 postseason games this year and is still searching for his first home run. In five World Series games against Toronto, he's gone just 3-for-23 with no extra-base hits, a run, three walks, and five K's. The Dodgers will be hoping the lineup shakeup will get Betts going. In 54 career at-bats against Gausman, Betts has hit a strong .296 with three homers, a double, and eight RBI.

Andy Pages Benched in Game 5, Alex Call Staring in Left Field

Los Angeles Dodgers struggling outfielder Andy Pages will retreat to the bench in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays and rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage. Enrique Hernandez will make the start in center field and will hit eighth, with Alex Call starting in left field and batting in the nine-hole. Catcher Will Smith will move up to No. 2 in the batting order. Pages may not start another game in the Fall Classic after going just 4-for-50 with 11 strikeouts and no walks in 14 games during this year's playoffs. Call has appeared in six games this October with L.A. and has gone 4-for-9 with two walks and a strikeout in his first 12 playoff plate appearances. Call will have very little DFS appeal at the bottom of the batting order against an up-and-coming young pitcher whom he has never faced.

Tommy Edman Could Have Offseason Ankle Surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers utilityman Tommy Edman (ankle) has been a strong contributor once again for the Dodgers in October despite playing through a lingering right-ankle injury that he's dealt with for the last two seasons. It's an injury that has caused Edman to miss significant time this year, landing him on the injured list two separate times. The 30-year-old had another setback with his ankle while playing in the final week of the regular season, which hasn't made him an option to take over in center field for the struggling Andy Pages. Edman has been limited to second base in the postseason. Edman said his ankle is "healthy," but he could need surgery this offseason to clean it up. The switch-hitting utility man hit a disappointing .225 during the regular season with 13 homers and 49 RBI, but he's picked things up in the postseason, going 11-for-42 (.262) with two homers and six RBI in 11 games.

Tyler Glasnow Named Game 3 Starter

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow will get the starting nod for Monday's Game 3 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Dodgers will look to even the series on Saturday after dropping the opener. Glasnow has been nearly impossible to touch during the postseason. He struck out eight batters across 5.2 innings of work during Game 3 of the NLCS. Overall, Glasnow has a 0.68 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts over 13.1 innings during the postseason. Following Game 3, Shohei Ohtani will get the ball for Game 4 of this series.

Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia Not on World Series Roster

Both Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed relievers Tanner Scott (lower body) and Alex Vesia (personal) were not included on the team's World Series roster against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to the team. Scott has been unable to pitch at all during the postseason after having a lower-body abscess surgery at the beginning of October. Meanwhile, Vesia has been away from the team of late due to a personal issue and will not be available out of the bullpen for the Fall Classic. Scott has been dreadful for the Dodgers at the back end of their bullpen all year, so he might have been left off the World Series roster even if he was fully healthy. Vesia won't be eligible to join the Dodgers' roster for the World Series at a later date because he will not go on the family medical emergency list. Vesia's absence is notable, as he has been a trusted lefty arm out of the bullpen in high-leverage situations for the Dodgers this year, recording five saves while posting a 3.02 ERA in 68 regular-season relief appearances.

Clayton Kershaw  • SP  •  Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw Will be on the World Series Roster

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw will be on the team's World Series roster, according to manager Dave Roberts. Kershaw, who has made just one relief appearance in the playoffs this year in the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, will continue to be available out of the team's bullpen. The 37-year-old future first-ballot Hall of Famer didn't fare well in that one appearance, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits (two homers) while walking three and striking out none in two innings of work. Kershaw already announced that this year will be the last of his Hall of Fame career. Although the three-time Cy Young winner and former MVP hasn't been a part of the team's postseason success this October, he was solid in his 23 outings (22 starts) for the Blue during the regular season, going 11-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 84:35 K:BB in 112 2/3 innings.

Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto to Pitch First Two Games of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-hander Blake Snell and right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start the first two games of the World Series, respectively, on Friday and Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Both Snell and Yamamoto have been lights-out on the mound for the Dodgers in the postseason as the Dodgers head into their second straight Fall Classic appearance. Snell has given up just two earned runs with five walks and 28 strikeouts in three wins over the Reds, Phillies, and Brewers in 21 innings. He also tossed five shutout innings with 10 K's in a win over Toronto on Aug. 9 during the regular season. Yamamoto has given up six runs (four earned) with four walks and 18 K's in 19 2/3 frames over his three postseason starts this October. The Japanese hurler did not face the Blue Jays during regular-season action in 2025.

Tanner Scott Resumes Throwing; Dodgers Hopeful for World Series Return

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Tanner Scott (lower body) has resumed playing catch as the team celebrated clinching its World Series berth with a series sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. Scott has been sidelined since September 26 after undergoing a procedure to treat a lower-body abscess. The Dodgers remain hopeful the 31-year-old reliever can return in some capacity for the World Series, depending on how manager Dave Roberts chooses to deploy him. Scott had an up-and-down regular season in Los Angeles, posting a 4.47 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He'll look to contribute meaningful innings as the Dodgers aim for back-to-back championships.

Roki Sasaki  • SP  •  Dodgers

Roki Sasaki "Unlikely" to Pitch in Game 2 of NLCS on Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that it's "unlikely" that rookie right-hander Roki Sasaki will pitch in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday in Milwaukee against the Brewers after he appeared in Monday night's 2-1 win in Game 1. Roberts said that Sasaki may pitch on back-to-back days in the postseason, but it has yet to happen. The 23-year-old missed most of his rookie campaign in the big leagues due to injury, and the Dodgers converted him from a starting role to a relief one right before the postseason kicked off. Sasaki wasn't effective in the Game 1 win on Monday night, either, allowing a run on one hit while walking two in two-thirds of the ninth inning before veteran Blake Treinen came in to slam the door shut. It's unclear if Roberts will have second thoughts about using Sasaki in save situations moving forward in the playoffs after he looked good in the wild-card series and divisional round for the Blue.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto to Start Game 2 of NLCS Against Brewers

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday in Milwaukee against the Brewers, according to manager Dave Roberts. Left-hander Blake Snell is getting the nod for Game 1 on Monday. Roberts said that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani will "pitch at some point" in the series, but it's unclear when that might be. In his two starts so far in the postseason against the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies, Yamamoto has allowed three earned runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out 11 in 10 2/3 innings pitched. He will be hoping he can be a lot better on Tuesday than when he faced the Brewers back on July 7, allowing five runs (three earned) and three hits before being pulled in just two-thirds of an inning. Yamamoto should be able to improve on that outing, but it won't be an easy task.
