Does Ryan Ward Demand Stash Consideration Amid 10-Game Hit Streak?

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward, after collecting a hit in Wednesday's game for Triple-A Oklahoma City, has extended his hit streak to 10 games. The Dodgers' 17th-ranked prospect is 16-for-40 (.400) during that time with a double and four home runs, along with twice as many walks (eight) as strikeouts (four). It brings his season-long slash line to .276/.384/.486 with 17 home runs and a 55:60 BB:K in 83 games for the Comets. The left-handed hitter debuted with the Dodgers earlier this season and has spent two different stints with the club with mixed results. While this recent stretch could help propel him there again, there is no immediate opening on the major league roster, even with Kyle Tucker struggling mightily on both sides of the ball. The former eighth-round draft pick has a ton of power, logging back-to-back 30-homer seasons at Triple-A prior to 2026, so there is some intrigue for fantasy purposes, but the 28-year-old is not a realistic stash consideration in most fantasy leagues.

Tanner Scott Re-Emerging as a Must-Roster Closer

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Tanner Scott picked up his 18th save of the season on Wednesday night, pitching a scoreless 10th inning with a strikeout in his team's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Colorado Rockies. With Dodgers closer Edwin Diaz (neck) back on the injured list, Scott has now earned saves in back-to-back appearances and should see regular save opportunities for as long as Diaz remains sidelined. Across 51 1/3 innings (55 games) on the year, Scott has pitched to a 2.28 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 18 saves. The 32-year-old has struck out 32% of the batters he's faced while posting just a 5.6% walk rate. In any league where Scott is available, he should be viewed as a must-roster saves source until Diaz returns from the IL.

Tyler Glasnow Dominates With Nine Strikeouts in Final Rehab Outing

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) was dominant in his final minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, allowing an earned run on just one hit while walking one and striking out nine in 5 1/3 innings pitched against Triple-A Sugar Land. Glasnow carried a shutout into the sixth inning and threw 54 of his 77 pitches for strikes while averaging 95.5 mph on his fastball. He generated 12 whiffs and looks more than ready to rejoin the Dodgers' starting rotation for the stretch run after being sidelined since early May with a lower-back injury. The Dodgers are not going to overwork Glasnow, especially given his lengthy injury history, but he should not face any workload restrictions in his return to the rotation, which should come next week against the first-place Atlanta Braves. Despite missing extensive time due to injury, Glasnow is rostered in over 90% of Yahoo leagues for his strikeout stuff on one of the best teams in baseball. He could be a difference-maker for fantasy rotations in the final month-plus of 2026.

Edwin Diaz's MRI Comes Back Clean, to be Shut Down for a "Couple Days"

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-handed closer Edwin Diaz (neck) got a "best-case" prognosis from his doctor's visit on Wednesday, with his MRI exam coming back clean, per Jack Harris of The California Post. There were no other "findings" in his neck. Diaz will be shut down from throwing for "a couple days," according to Roberts, before the team sees how he is feeling from there. The Dodgers placed the struggling closer on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday due to inflammation in his neck, which the team believes may have been caused by a lower arm angle this year. Diaz also missed time in his first season in L.A. after having surgery to clean up loose bodies in his right elbow. Since coming off the IL for his elbow surgery, the 32-year-old Puerto Rican really struggled, posting a 12.91 ERA (6.86 FIP) with two losses, three saves, and three blown saves in nine appearances over 7 2/3 innings. Diaz has been a major bust in his first year with the Dodgers, but he might not require a lengthy IL stay this time around, and he is still rostered in 72% of Yahoo leagues. Until he returns, lefty Tanner Scott should resume primary closing duties for Roberts.

Shohei Ohtani Could Be Ready to Progress to Throwing a Live BP Session

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter/starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (knee) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and could be ready to progress to throwing a live BP next, per Jack Harris of the California Post. While Ohtani continues to see near-everyday playing time as the Dodgers' designated hitter, he has not pitched since early July due to lingering knee issues. The 32-year-old has been extremely productive on the mound when healthy this season, recording an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 95 strikeouts across 85 2/3 innings (14 starts). He averaged 98.1 miles per hour on his fastball and logged a stellar 27.9% strikeout rate. Given how important he is to their lineup, the Dodgers will surely be cautious with Ohtani. Still, it appears as though the two-way superstar is making steady progress and could soon provide fantasy managers with a boost on the mound.

Edwin Diaz Going Back on Injured List With Neck Inflammation

The Los Angeles Dodgers are placing right-handed closer Edwin Diaz (upper body) back on the injured list on Tuesday, less than a month after he was activated from the 60-day IL for a right-elbow injury, multiple team sources told Katie Woo of The Athletic. The specific injury has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be an upper-body injury for the struggling veteran reliever. Right-hander Emmet Sheehan will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move to give the Dodgers some length in their bullpen. Since coming back from elbow surgery in late July, Diaz allowed 11 earned runs on 16 hits for a nightmarish 12.91 ERA during that span. And since Sept. 7, he has blown three of his five save opportunities and has given up nine earned runs in five innings. Manager Dave Roberts said over the weekend that he still had faith in Diaz, who was signed to a $69 million deal in the offseason. Diaz's newest injury could stem from a mechanical issue due to a significantly lower arm angle than in years past. It is unclear how long he will be on the IL this time around, but in the meantime, left-hander Tanner Scott will become a priority waiver-wire pickup as the primary closing option in Diaz's absence. UPDATE: The California Post's Jack Harris reports that Diaz is dealing with neck inflammation.

Tyler Glasnow Making Another Rehab Start on Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) came out of his Aug. 14 67-pitch minor-league rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City with no issues and is expected to go five innings or 75 pitches in another rehab outing on Wednesday, Aug. 19, before rejoining the major-league starting rotation during a road trip to Atlanta and Detroit, according to MLB.com. Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 6 but has been out since May 8 due to lower-back spasms. Barring a setback on Wednesday, he should return to the Dodgers' rotation at some point next week. The 32-year-old veteran will likely be eased back into the big-league rotation, but he deserves to be rostered in all fantasy baseball leagues for his strikeout upside in the final month of the 2026 regular season. Before hurting his back, Glasnow had gone 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched across seven starts. He is currently rostered in 91% of Yahoo leagues.

Shohei Ohtani Scheduled to Throw Another Bullpen on Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (knee) said his left knee felt good after throwing a bullpen session last Friday and that he is scheduled to throw another one on Tuesday, according to Jack Harris of The California Post. Ohtani is hopeful that his knee injury is behind him now and that there will not be any more setbacks as he ramps up as a pitcher. The four-time MVP continues to serve as L.A.'s primary designated hitter, but he has not made a start on the mound since July 3 against the division-rival San Diego Padres. While the 32-year-old is trending in the right direction as a starting pitcher, the Dodgers are in no rush to bring him back to their rotation, and fantasy managers should not be surprised if he does not make another start until the calendar flips to September. The five-time All-Star has been great on the mound when he has been available, going 8-2 in his 14 starts (85 2/3 innings) with a 1.79 ERA (2.59 FIP) and 0.95 WHIP with a 95:26 K:BB. The primary goal for the Dodgers is to have Ohtani at full health as a pitcher for the playoffs in October.

Will Smith Could Begin a Rehab Assignment Next Week

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said catcher Will Smith (neck) could begin a rehab assignment next week, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Smith has not played since early June due to a neck injury, but he appears to be making steady progress towards a return. Across 201 plate appearances before the injury, the 31-year-old is hitting .248/.338/.382 with six home runs, 23 RBI, and 23 runs scored. While Smith's overall production at the plate was below his career norms, he posted a stellar 13.4% barrel rate while striking out in just 16.9% of his trips to the plate. The Dodgers are also currently without emerging young catcher Dalton Rushing (elbow) due to an elbow injury, so Smith should see as much playing time as he can handle once healthy. Upon his return, Smith profiles as a must-start fantasy catcher.

James Tibbs III Hopes Triple-A Success Translates to Big-League Shot

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect James Tibbs III has had a monster season at Triple-A Oklahoma City with 24 homers, 89 RBI, and 90 runs scored while hitting .297. Tibbs is hitting .365 in August with three home runs and 14 RBI to continue his strong season. The left-handed hitter is the No. 7 prospect in the Dodgers system and is looking for a late-season promotion. The 23-year-old has a 50-grade hit tool with 55-grade power and has been a menace at the plate all season long at the Triple-A level. He has proven he is ready for a big-league chance, and with the Dodgers all of a sudden struggling, they could turn to the young outfielder for a spark. Fantasy managers will want to monitor how the Dodgers plan on using Tibbs the rest of the season because he has the tools to be successful in the majors even at age 23.

Justin Wrobleski Placed on Injured List with Forearm Issue

According to David Vassegh, Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski (forearm) was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Sunday. Wrobleski has struggled over his last three starts, so the forearm issue could be partially to blame for his lack of success lately. The Dodgers haven't revealed a timetable on the southpaw yet, so fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates. The 25-year-old owns a 3.56 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 100/28 K/BB ratio across 126.1 innings of work this season. In a corresponding move, Kyle Hurt was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take the spot on the active roster.

Kyle Tucker Held Out of Dodgers' Lineup Due to Frustrations

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that outfielder Kyle Tucker is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers because of his "frustrations playing at home," according to Dodger Blue. The Dodgers will give Tucker the day off to work, and it allows Alex Call to slide into the starting lineup in right field while batting eighth against right-handed flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski. The 29-year-old Tucker has been a bust so far in L.A. in 2026, slashing .234/.332/.373 with a .705 OPS, only 11 home runs, 54 RBI, 66 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 116 games and 476 plate appearances. In 59 games (231 plate appearances) at home this year, he has gone just 39-for-203 (.192) with a .566 OPS, two home runs, 27 walks, and 46 strikeouts compared to a .275/.371/.469 with an .840 OPS and nine home runs in 57 games on the road away from Dodger Stadium. Tucker is also hitting only .220 (9-for-41) with two homers, a triple, three RBI, eight runs, six walks, and six strikeouts in 13 games so far in August.

Will Smith Takes On-Field Batting Practice

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith (neck) took on-field batting practice on Friday before the team's game against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Smith has been on the injured list for over two months, but he's slowly making progress after being cleared to resume baseball activities at the end of July. The 31-year-old veteran backstop will eventually need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment, but if he can avoid any setbacks once he resumes playing in games, it seems plausible that he could be back in the Dodgers' starting lineup by the end of August. It's been a tough 2026 season for the three-time All-Star and former first-rounder, as Smith has played in just 52 games (201 plate appearances) and has hit .249 (43-for-173) with six home runs, 23 RBI, and 23 runs scored. Once back to full health, though, he'll be L.A.'s primary catcher in one of the best lineups in the league. Smith is rostered in only 68% of Yahoo leagues now after his extended stay on the sidelines due to a frustrating neck injury that initially wasn't even expected to land him on the IL.

Tyler Glasnow Looks Dominant in Latest Rehab Start

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) looks about ready to return to the Dodgers' starting rotation after a dominant showing in his latest minor-league rehab start on Friday night with Triple-A Oklahoma City. In his third rehab start, Glasnow threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings with no hits allowed, two walks, and eight strikeouts against Triple-A Albuquerque. The 32-year-old veteran threw 39 of his 67 pitches for strikes on the night after giving up just one run in 4 2/3 innings in his first two rehab outings. The Dodgers are expected to have Glasnow make one more rehab appearance in the minors next week before reinstating him from the 60-day injured list. The former All-Star has high-end stuff when he's healthy on one of the best teams in baseball, so he should be scooped up immediately if he's available on the waiver wire in your league. Glasnow went 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings across seven starts before he landed on the IL back in early May. He's only available in 10% of Yahoo leagues.

Shohei Ohtani  • DH  •  Dodgers

Shohei Ohtani Throws Bullpen Session on Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (knee) is throwing a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Friday, his first in more than three weeks, according to Jack Harris of The California Post. A nagging left knee injury has kept Ohtani from starting a game on the mound since July 3 against the division-rival San Diego Padres. The four-time MVP has continued to serve as the team's regular designated hitter, though, so it obviously isn't a serious knee injury, and the Dodgers continue to be overly cautious with the Japanese sensation. L.A.'s primary goal is to have the 32-year-old six-time All-Star at 100% as a pitcher by the start of the postseason in October. They will continue to slowly ramp him up as a pitcher, with the expectation that he'll eventually return to the starting rotation sometime in September in the final month of the regular season. Ohtani has gone 8-2 on the mound in his 14 starts, with a sharp 1.79 ERA (2.59 FIP) and 0.95 WHIP with 95 strikeouts and 26 walks in 85 2/3 innings pitched. Despite having not pitched since early July, Ohtani is being stashed in 97% of Yahoo leagues.

Tanner Scott a Top Stash After Dodgers Blow Another Save?

Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever Tanner Scott returned to a late-inning setup role in L.A. when regular closer Edwin Diaz returned from the injured list in late July, which led to him being dropped in many fantasy leagues without a consistent path to saves. The 32-year-old veteran southpaw could be worth picking up again off the waiver wire after another blown save by Diaz in a loss to the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night. Diaz was hit with a blown save and a loss, and he's allowed seven runs with three blown saves in 3 2/3 innings so far in August. Although the 32-year-old is being paid a lot, the Dodgers could be considering demoting him from the closer's role as they look to close out the National League West late in the year. Diaz has an 11.57 ERA while converting just six of his 10 save chances in 2026, while Scott, after a rough first year in L.A. in 2025, has been solid with a 2.25 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 16 saves in 48 innings pitched. Scott is rostered in less than half of Yahoo leagues and is worth stashing in the event Diaz is demoted.

Mookie Betts is Absent on Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is out of the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Betts. He finally appears to be turning a corner with the bat after going 6-for-11 with two home runs and three RBI during their last series versus the Kansas City Royals. Miguel Rojas will cover shortstop and bat sixth versus left-hander Shane Drohan on Thursday. Fantasy managers should expect Betts back in the lineup on Friday, and hopefully, a day off won't cool him down at the plate.

Freddie Freeman Ready to Go for Series Opener Against Brewers

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (soreness) is starting at first base and will bat cleanup for the Blue in Thursday's series opener against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers and left-hander Shane Drohan, per MLB.com. Freeman had a scary moment in Wednesday's win over the Kansas City Royals when he fell into the dugout at Dodger Stadium while chasing a pop-up in foul ground, and he was dealing with soreness in his hand, knee, and shoulder after the game. However, it was not enough to keep the former MVP and 10-time All-Star out of the lineup for the opener of a big series against the Brewers. Despite facing a left-hander on Thursday, Freeman should be in all starting fantasy lineups in traditional formats as he brings a .306/.380/.472 slash line into the contest with an .852 OPS, 15 home runs, 57 RBI, 58 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Freeman has hit .272 (40-for-147) with four of his 15 homers on the year against lefties, and he's gone hitless in just two career at-bats against Drohan.

Teoscar Hernández  • LF  •  Dodgers

Teoscar Hernandez Could Losing Playing Time Amid Offensive Struggles

The Athletic's Katie Woo suggests that Los Angeles Dodgers veteran outfielder Teoscar Hernandez could lose playing time going forward due to his ongoing offensive struggles, especially against right-handed pitchers. Manager Dave Roberts is known for letting his veteran players swing their way out of slumps, but it was notable when Hernandez was pinch-hit for in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Roberts did it again in the sixth inning on Monday against the Kansas City Royals, and Woo suggests that the skipper will likely sit Hernandez against righty starters for the near future, with utility man Tommy Edman the most logical candidate to take over the majority of the reps in left field. "Since he's come back (from the IL), versus right just hasn't been to his standard, our standard," Roberts said of Hernandez. He was hitting .276 with a .348 on-base percentage before his Grade 1 hamstring strain at the end of May, but entering play on Wednesday, Hernandez was slashing .209/.258/.357 since returning from the injured list.

Will Another Productive Stretch Push James Tibbs III to MLB Debut?

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect James Tibbs III has been hitting the ball well after a late-July swoon, hitting safely in 12 of his last 14 games, going 20-for-57 (.351) over that stretch with five doubles, a triple, a home run, three steals, and an impressive 12:13 BB:K. The home run broke a 29-game drought without a round-tripper, and the three steals are nearly half of his season total, which now stands at seven. The recent surge has brought his 2026 slash line to .294/.417/.537 with 22 home runs, and his 84 RBI and 88 runs scored are both top-five totals at Triple-A. It has been a very productive season for the Dodgers' seventh-ranked prospect, but there simply has been no room for him on the major league roster to enable a major league debut, and that remains the case today. With other options who are already on the 40-man roster in Oklahoma City that can play outfield (i.e., Ryan Ward, Alek Thomas, Hyeseong Kim), Tibbs' hopes of a 2026 debut have dimmed considerably. Consider him a speculative stash with upside if he found his way to at-bats in Los Angeles.
