River Ryan on the Verge of MLB Promotion Following Eight-Strikeout Effort

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan turned in another stellar effort at Triple-A Oklahoma City and is on the verge of joining the MLB roster. On Thursday evening, Ryan turned in his best showing of the campaign, tossing a season-high six frames with one run (unearned run) with only four hits, no walks, and a season-high eight punchouts. Since returning from the 7-day injured list, Ryan has made three starts and logged 15 innings with a 0.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP, and a 19:1 K:BB. With both Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow on the injured list on the MLB roster, Ryan could provide some much-needed depth to this pitching staff. Given his current production and clear path to a role, Ryan should be viewed as the top pitching prospect to stash in all formats.

River Ryan on the Verge of Joining Dodgers Rotation?

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan recently returned from his injured stint at Triple-A and is quickly in the mix to join the MLB rotation. Ryan spent a month on the Triple-A injured list with a minor hamstring injury, but has looked sharp in his return. Over his last two outings with Oklahoma City, Ryan has logged nine innings with just one earned run, four hits, and a stellar 11:1 K:BB. Additionally, Ryan has seen his stash value skyrocket as of late, given that Blake Snell recently joined Tyler Glasnow on the MLB injured list, leaving a clear spot for Ryan to join the rotation. The 27-year-old made his MLB debut in 2024 and held his own, posting a 1.33 ERA over 20 1/3 innings, but did not take the mound in 2025 after undergoing an internal brace procedure. However, with his lengthy injury history behind him and a clear opening, Ryan carries elite stash upside in the short term, as he appears to be the clear next-best option for this pitching staff.

River Ryan Enters Must-Stash Status Following Seven-Strikeout Effort

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan is coming off his best showing at Triple-A and is now firmly in must-stash territory ahead of Week 9 of the fantasy baseball season. Given that Blake Snell recently joined Tyler Glasnow on the injured list, the MLB roster is in need of pitching depth. Even though Ryan missed nearly a month of action due to an injury at Triple-A, he has since returned to action and is showing high-end upside. He returned from the IL on May 15 and logged four innings of one-run ball with a 4:1 K:BB. However, on Thursday night, he looked far more comfortable, tossing five shutout frames with only two hits, no walks, and a season-high seven punchouts. He made his MLB debut in the 2024 season and looked quite comfortable, posting a 1.33 ERA over his first 20 1/3 innings. Given that the Dodgers lack much pitching depth, Ryan appears to be knocking on the big-league doorstep, making him an elite stash option in all standard leagues this weekend.

River Ryan a Must-Stash Candidate with Clear Path to Starting Role?

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan has seen his stash value skyrocket over the past week. Not only has Ryan returned from a lengthy stint on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A, but he now has a clear path to a role on the MLB roster. Blake Snell recently joined Tyler Glasnow on the injured list, leaving a clear role for Ryan on the big-league roster. In his first start at Triple-A in nearly a month, the right-hander looked quite comfortable, logging four innings of one-run ball with two hits, one walk, and four punchouts. He made his MLB debut during the 2024 campaign and posted a stellar 1.33 ERA over 20 1/3 innings. However, after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Ryan was on the shelf for the entirety of the 2025 season. With him back to full strength and two open spots in the rotation, Ryan has quickly entered must-stash territory in all standard leagues, as a return to Los Angeles could come in the immediate future.

River Ryan Emerging as Must-Stash Pitcher Ahead of Potential Call-Up?

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher River Ryan (hamstring) threw 53 pitches in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing two hits, an earned run, and a walk while striking out four across four innings of work. The 27-year-old opened the year in Triple-A while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in August 2024 and caused him to miss the entire 2025 season. However, he suffered a hamstring injury on April 11 that caused him to miss more than a month. Ryan will likely need more time in the minor leagues as he continues to be built up to a full starter's workload. Still, the Dodgers now have a hole in their big-league rotation after the news that left-hander Blake Snell (elbow) is being placed on the injured list due to loose bodies in his elbow. Ryan pitched to a 1.33 ERA across a small sample size of 20 1/3 innings (four starts) after making his MLB debut in 2024. Given his upside and the opportunity in the Dodgers' pitching staff, Ryan could be worth stashing off the waiver wire for fantasy managers.

River Ryan Could Join the Starting Rotation

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher River Ryan (hamstring) is making a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday. Recently, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that there is a slim possibility that Ryan joins the starting rotation at some point. It's going to take some time as the Dodgers want to slowly build up Ryan. He hasn't pitched since suffering a hamstring injury on April 11. The plan is for Ryan to throw four innings during his outing on Friday. He'll likely continue to be built up from there, but could be an option for the Dodgers down the road. Fantasy managers in deep leagues that are looking for a stash option might want to consider adding Ryan.

River Ryan Continues to Hold Sneaky Stash Value Among Pitching Prospects

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan continues to hold sneaky stash value in Week 3 of the fantasy baseball season. Ryan underwent Tommy John surgery in August of 2024 and has been on the shelf ever since. He participated in spring training and was quite effective, logging 9 2/3 innings with a 1.86 ERA and a 12:4 K:BB. However, the Dodgers opted for Ryan to begin the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City to ramp up his workload further. With Triple-A, Ryan has made two starts (logged seven innings) and managed to strike out 10 hitters while allowing four earned runs. Ryan made his MLB debut during the 2024 season and was near-perfect in his first taste, posting an elite 1.33 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 20 1/3 innings. While the Dodger rotation appears to be full, Roki Sasaki holds a rough 6.23 ERA, and Emmet Sheehan has struggled to find consistency as well. For now, Ryan is a fine stash option in all 12+team leagues.

River Ryan Seeing Value Increase as Stash Option

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher River Ryan is emerging as a sneaky stash candidate for fantasy baseball. Ryan fell short of the Opening Day rotation, but could be in the mix to return to the majors much sooner than expected. He made his MLB debut back in 2024 and was quite sharp, logging 20 1/3 innings ot the tune of a 1.33 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. However, he underwent Tommy John surgery in August of 2024, which has kept him on the shelf ever since. While he was a full participant in spring training, the Dodgers opted to keep him in the minor leagues to continue to increase his workload. He has made one start with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season and struck out six hitters over four frames. While their starting rotation appears to be full at the moment, both Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki have struggled in the early going. If Ryan continues to impress in the minor leagues, he could see occasional spot starts and push either Sheehan or Sasaki back into a bullpen role.

Dodgers Option River Ryan to Triple-A

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they optioned right-hander River Ryan to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Even with left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) not expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 regular season next week, Ryan will start the year on the farm. The 27-year-old had Tommy John surgery in August of 2024 and didn't pitch at all for the Dodgers last year. The Dodgers chose to ignore his 1.86 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and four walks in his 9 2/3 innings in spring training in favor of giving him a softer runway in the minors to return from his right-elbow injury. The former 11th-round pick by the San Diego Padres in 2021 made his big-league debut in L.A. in 2024 and looked good, allowing just three earned runs with 18 K's and nine walks in 20 1/3 innings in four starts. L.A.'s starting rotation won't be easy to crack, but Ryan should make starts again for the Dodgers at some point in 2026.

River Ryan No Longer In Consideration for Starting Role?

According to Sonja Chen of MLB.com, Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan is trending towards opening the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, not in the MLB rotation. Ryan is currently in consideration for one of the final spots in the starting rotation with Blake Snell (shoulder) and Gavin Stone (shoulder) both on the shelf. However, it appears Ryan is behind both Emmet Sheehan and Justin Wrobleski in the competition, given their prior major-league experience. Additionally, the Dodgers see Ryan as a full-time starter and want to ensure he remains in that role with either club and not demoted to a swingman role. This spring, Ryan has been one of the most impressive pitchers on the roster, logging 9 2/3 innings to the tune of a 1.86 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a 12:4 K:BB. He would be viewed as a solid stash candidate once demoted to Triple-A.
