River Ryan Off the Stash Radar Amid Injury Concerns and Recent Struggles

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan (hamstring) finds himself on the minor-league injured list with Triple-A Oklahoma City after suffering a right-hamstring strain. Ryan also missed time with the injury in April, so his injury history is becoming a bit of a concern. The numbers are pretty good for Ryan in Oklahoma City this year, with a 3-1 record, a 4.46 ERA, and 43 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings pitched. The strikeout rate is a good sign for Ryan, and the 27-year-old is working hard to be ready for his major league debut. The injuries have been troubling, though, as he also missed all of 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Ryan's three starts in June before landing on the injured list were subpar, with a 1-1 record and 8.16 ERA, including his latest start in which he gave up eight earned runs. Ryan, the No. 6 prospect in the Dodgers system, will likely need to show more consistency on the mound and with his health before he is considered for a call-up. For now, he is off the stash radar in all standard leagues.

Is River Ryan Still a Top Stash Target After Hitting the Injured List?

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher River Ryan was flashing high upside at the Triple-A level before being placed on the 7-day IL with a hamstring strain. The right-handed pitcher battled injuries early in the season but was looking comfortable at the top club before being moved back to the injured list last week. From May 15 through June 10 (25 innings), the right-handed pitcher posted a strong 2.16 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 30:5 K:BB. However, he would serve up a season-worst eight earned runs on June 17, his final start before being moved to the IL. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress at Triple-A as he could compete for an early promotion after the All-Star break. Currently on the MLB roster, the Dodgers are without Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, and another current starter, Roki Sasaki, is enduring significant growing pains at the major-league level. If Ryan can return to action and showcase similar upside, he could earn a spot in Los Angeles early in the second half.

River Ryan Lands on Minor-League Injured List With Hamstring Issue

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan (hamstring) is heading to the seven-day minor-league injured list with a hamstring issue, sources told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Ryan missed time earlier in Triple-A Oklahoma City's season with hamstring trouble and had his start skipped this week. The 27-year-old former 11th-round pick by the San Diego Padres in 2021 out of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke is currently listed by MLB Pipeline as L.A.'s No. 6 prospect. He made his big-league debut with the Dodgers in 2024 and looked good in a small sample size of just four starts, allowing only four runs (three earned) on 15 hits while walking nine and striking out 18 in 20 1/3 innings pitched. In eight starts at OKC in 2026, Ryan has gone 3-1 with a 4.46 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 43:8 K:BB in 36 1/3 innings pitched. It's a tough break for Ryan to go on the minor-league IL, but it doesn't mean he won't be an option for the Dodgers' starting rotation in the second half of the 2026 season. He's currently rostered in 11% of Yahoo leagues and is still a pitching prospect to stash in deeper leagues.

River Ryan Worth Stashing Despite Coming Off Season-Worst Outing?

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan had a rough outing last time out at Triple-A Oklahoma City, giving up eight earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. It was by far the worst start for Ryan at Oklahoma City, and the former San Diego Padres draft pick has impressed overall in 2026. Ryan is coming off Tommy John surgery, which kept him out for 2025, and after a right hamstring strain kept him out a good portion of April and into May, he managed to complete three starts in May while allowing just one earned run. The Dodgers' top pitching prospect is still knocking on the door for a big league opportunity despite the recent poor start and the injury setbacks. Right-hander Emmet Sheehan has struggled recently, and two MLB starters, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, are both on the injured list, leading to speculation that it could be time for Ryan to get a look in Los Angeles. If he does get a call-up to the Dodgers, Ryan would be in a prime position for success and thus is worth a look in leagues of all sizes.

River Ryan's Stock Takes a Hit, Still a Worthwhile Stash?

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan took a step back in his latest outing at Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three in 4 1/3 innings of work. Recently, Dodgers president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, stated that they wanted to get Ryan built up to handle an MLB workload, and the pitch count over his last three starts has been 96, 83, and 89, so that tolerance looks to have been fortified. That would seemingly leave performance and opportunity as two main things holding the right-hander back right now. If the Dodgers' top-ranked pitching prospect can put this latest disaster of an outing behind him, he should receive another shot with the big league club in the next month or so, provided the Dodgers are looking to replace one of their current rotation options. For the season, the 27-year-old owns a 4.46 ERA (2.89 FIP), 1.29 WHIP, and a strong 22.2 percent K-BB% through eight starts. Some shine may have worn off his stash status, but for managers looking for pitching help, the 6-foot-2 hurler still warrants consideration as a stash option in deeper leagues.

River Ryan No Longer the Top Pitching Prospect to Stash After Disastrous Outing?

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan is coming off the worst outing of the campaign at Triple-A and is seeing his stash upside drop significantly. On June 17, Ryan faced Sacramento and stumbled, allowing a season-high 10 hits and eight runs (all earned) over just 4 1/3 innings. However, prior to this showing, the right-hander was looking quite comfortable following his return from a brief stint on the injured list. From May 15 through June 10, Ryan carried a dominant 2.16 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, with a 30:5 K:BB (over 25 frames), which suggested he was nearing an MLB promotion. However, this setback may keep him at Triple-A for the time being. Even with several Dodgers starters on the shelf, such as Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, Ryan appears to need further development at Oklahoma City, which makes him a worthy stash candidate in deeper 12+ team leagues.

River Ryan Bounces Back, is He a Must-Stash Now?

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect River Ryan bounced back nicely in his latest outing at Triple-A Oklahoma City after giving up four earned runs in his previous start. The Dodgers' sixth-ranked prospect allowed just one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out seven in his last start, improving his ERA for the year to 2.81 with a 1.13 WHIP. The right-hander owns a strong 24.6 percent K-BB% and is averaging more than a strikeout per inning, exactly what fantasy managers want to see from a potential fantasy asset. The 27-year-old debuted in 2025 and saw some success, with a 1.33 ERA (3.36 FIP), 1.18 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings pitched, so with his current momentum, there's good reason to think that he'll have success the next time he gets the call. The Dodgers are currently using a six-man rotation and technically have no openings, but things change fast in the major leagues, either due to injury or underperformance, so Ryan should be considered one of the top pitchers to stash for fantasy with his ability to have a positive impact on multiple categories.

River Ryan a Must-Stash Prospect After Stellar Bounce-Back Effort?

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect River Ryan enjoyed a much-needed bounce-back effort at Triple-A Oklahoma City this past week. On Wednesday evening, Ryan tossed four innings of one-run ball while striking out seven hitters with only one free pass. This was a nice showing for the right-hander, who was coming off the worst outing of his young season, where he allowed a season-worst four runs and seven hits to Round Rock back on June 4. Ryan spent some time on the 7-day injured list earlier this season, but has since returned to Triple-A and has looked quite comfortable. Across 25 innings since returning from injury, Ryan has posted a 2.16 ERA with a 30:5 K:BB, with three of these walks coming in his worst showing. With both Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell on the IL on the MLB roster and starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski exiting early on Thursday night, Ryan has a clear path to return to the majors before the end of June, making him a prime stash target among pitchers.

River Ryan Looks to Bounce Back, Remains on Stash Radar for Now

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher River Ryan was humming along at Triple-A Oklahoma City before his last outing, posting a 2.05 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and an elite 29.5 percent K-BB% through his first five starts. In his latest start, though, the former 11th-round draft pick yielded four earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four. The walks were easily a season high after walking a total of three in the five previous contests, and four strikeouts tied a season low total. Although it took some shine off his stash status, everyone has a dud performance from time to time, and with a good 2.89 ERA still for the year, along with a 1.09 WHIP and a FIP that is actually lower (2.51), the arrow is still pointing up for Ryan. If the right-hander struggles in his next outing, which comes Wednesday night in Charlotte, then it may be time to reconsider stashing him, but for now, the 27-year-old is a worthwhile stash option in deeper leagues as he waits for an opening in the Dodgers' six-man rotation.

Is River Ryan Still a Top Stash Target Following Four-Run Showing?

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher River Ryan hit his first speedbump at the Triple-A level on Thursday evening. After enjoying a near-perfect stretch since returning from injury, the right-hander allowed a season-high four runs and six hits to Round Rock. In this contest, Ryan also served up a season-high three walks and only struck out four hitters. However, prior to this rough showing, Ryan was on the verge of returning to the majors, carrying an impressive 0.60 ERA, 0.60 WHIP, and a 19:1 K:BB over his last 15 frames since returning from his minor injury. Ryan made his MLB debut during the 2024 campaign and looked quite comfortable in his first stint, holding a 1.33 ERA over 20 1/3 innings. With several Dodger starters on the injured list, including Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, Ryan continues to hold high-end stash upside, as his path to the big leagues remains very clear, despite his underwhelming showing on Thursday evening.
