Jackson Jobe News
Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Jackson Jobe (hamstring) was pulled from his start early on Wednesday with Double-A Erie in the middle of the fourth inning after he was seen flexing his left leg and grabbing around his hamstring after delivering a pitch. The 21-year-old right-hander entered his start on Wednesday with a 2.63 ERA and 1.17 WHIP while walking nine and striking out 19 in 13 2/3 innings over his four starts for Erie. It's unclear how serious the injury is, but it's worth keeping an eye on for the Tigers' No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder has a nasty slider to pair with a mid- to upper-90s fastball. Even if his leg injury isn't serious enough to require a stint on the minor-league injured list, Jobe is probably unlikely to make his big-league debut in 2024.
Detroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Jackson Jobe tallied six strikeouts across four no-hit innings in Thursday's victory. This outing lowered Jobe's ERA to 2.63 and his WHIP to 1.17. Jobe, the top pitching prospect in the Detroit system and number two right-handed pitching prospect in all of baseball, has looked sharp in Double-A as he has a cumulative 1.83 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 19 total innings over the past two seasons. The former third-overall pick should be promoted to Triple-A later this summer if he continues this strong play. While Jobe is not projected to reach the major leagues until 2025, he should remain a coveted piece in dynasty leagues.
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jackson Jobe made his long-awaiting spring debut in Tuesday's 1-0 Grapefruit League loss to the Twins. The 21-year-old, who is the Tiger's No. 3 prospect and the No. 25 overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning with two strikeouts and hit 102 MPH with his fastball. Jobe was reassigned to minor-league camp on Friday but manager A. J. Hinch called Jobe's performance "very impressive". Jobe only reached Double-A Erie last season, so it remains to be seen if he will make his big-league debut this season. Either way, he is a must-watch in dynasty leagues and keeper leagues.

Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Jackson Jobe injured his lower back in the spring of 2023 and was given a three-month timetable to return. Not only did he return to full health, he did so with authority. The right-hander breezed through Single-A ball with six starts of 2.25 ERA work with a dynamite 25% K-BB%. He moved to High-A Lakeland where he posted a 3.60 ERA alongside a massive 31.9% K-BB% in eight starts. He finished his 2023 regular season with six shutout innings in his lone outing with Double-A Erie. The 21-year-old wasn't done there, however, as he posted a 2.87 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings across four starts in the Arizona Fall League. The strong bounce-back from his early-season back ailment was not only encouraging but placed him among the elite pitching prospects in baseball. It would be surprising to see him make his MLB debut in 2024 but he could be a big-time asset as soon as the 2025 campaign.
