Jack Suwinski Back From the Injured List

Pittsburgh Pirates interim manager Don Kelly said that outfielder Jack Suwinski (groin) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday, according to Alex Stumpf of MLB.com. In a corresponding move, the team optioned outfielder Ji Hwan Bae to Triple-A Indianapolis. The Pirates have yet to release their starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Chicago Cubs, so it's unclear if Suwisnki will go right back into the starting nine. The 27-year-old has been out since late August with a groin strain and figures to at least be a lineup regular for the Bucs against right-handed pitchers over the final few weeks of the 2025 season. Suwinski hit two homers in three minor-league rehab games, but he's gone just 16-for-121 (.132) with three home runs, eight RBI, and six steals in 48 games in the majors this year.

Jack Suwinski Homers in Thursday's Rehab Outing

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski (groin) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Indianapolis. Suwinski has been sidelined since August 29 with a groin injury, but made his first rehab appearance on Thursday. He took Michael Soroka (shoulder) deep in the sixth inning before being removed for defensive purposes a few innings later. While it's encouraging to see Suwinski get a hold of one in his first rehab start, he has struggled at the plate in 2025, slashing .132/.286/.240 with three home runs, eight RBI, 13 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 121 at-bats. Fantasy managers looking for outfield production will want to look elsewhere, as Suwinski is a career .199 hitter through four seasons and through 1,330 plate appearances.

Jack Suwinski Goes on Injured List With Groin Strain

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Jack Suwinski (groin) on the 10-day injured list with a right-groin strain and recalled outfielder Ronny Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Suwinski has been a platoon outfielder for the Pirates this year when he's been on the major-league roster, but he hasn't contributed much at all and was not a fantasy factor in mixed leagues whatsoever. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is currently batting a weak .132 (16-for-121) with three home runs, eight RBI, 13 runs scored and six stolen bases in 48 games played in his fourth year in the majors. With Suwinski sidelined for at least the next 10 days, Alexander Canario and Simon could get some run in Pittsburgh's outfield.

Ke'Bryan Hayes, Jack Suwinski On The Bench On Sunday

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes and outfielder Jack Suwinski will start Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Cincinnati Reds on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at third base and hit seventh against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene. Oneil Cruz (finger) is back in center field for the series finale. Adam Frazier is starting in left field and batting sixth and Alexander Canario is in right field and in the five-hole. Bryan has gotten off to another slow start in 2025, going 11-for-52 (.212) with a homer, five RBI, two steals and 10 strikeouts in his first 15 games. The 28-year-old went hitless in six at-bats with three K's in the first two games of the series against Cincy. Canario and Frazier have never faced Greene, while Kiner-Falefa is hitless in just two career at-bats against him. Neither player will be all that attractive as a DFS sleeper.

Jack Suwinski Demoted To Minors

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. It's been an extremely disappointing season for the 25-year-old, who came in with some hype after hitting 26 homers and swiping 13 bags in his sophomore season last year. He hasn't been able to live up to it, with an abysmal .184/.266/.327 slash line and just nine homers and nine steals. The Buccos hope that a trip to the minors will let Suwinski get his head straight and perhaps become a contributor next year.

Jack Suwinski Starting To Show Signs Of Life

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and a solo home run in Tuesday's blowout victory versus the division rival Milwaukee Brewers. Suwinski entered the season as a popular sleeper, but has mostly struggled at the dish this season and even saw some time in Triple-A, before recently being brought back up. Despite his early season struggles, the left-handed bat has started to show some signs of life with nine hits over his last 35 at-bats, including three homers. In the deepest of mixed leagues, his power potential makes him worth a dart throw, but he is best served as a watch-list candidate for the time being.

Jack Suwinski Sitting Against Lefty On Saturday

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting Atlanta Braves and left-hander Max Fried. Interestingly, the 25-year-old has put forth reverse splits in the 2024 season, hitting .242 with a .628 OPS on the season against lefties while hitting just .156 with .534 OPS against righties. Of course, his numbers this season have been a major disappointment for fantasy managers as Suwinski is hitting .171 with six homers, five steals, and a .550 OPS on the season after hitting .224 with 26 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a .793 OPS across 144 games in the 2023 season. There is certainly some second-half bounce-back potential considering his lowly .218 BABIP but it's also worth noting that Suwinski's .280 xwOBA ranks in the league's 11th percentile.

Jack Suwinski Provides Only Offense In Victory

After being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski would provide the only offense in a victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Suwinski went 1-for-4 on the evening and took Tyler Glasnow deep for a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Pirates to their 28th victory. Suwinski has shown power in the past with 50 career home runs, but has struggled this season with a .177 batting average and five homers to go along with 14 RBI and five stolen bases. His time in Triple-A may be what he needed to get going and managers searching for power should watch and see what Suwinski does over the next few days as he could be a solid one-category pickup.

Pirates Option Jack Suwinski To Triple-A

The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned outfielder Jack Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday and recalled left-hander Jose Hernandez from the minors in a corresponding move. Suwinski is being shipped down to the farm to work on his swing after struggling so far this year to a .174/.268/.297 slash line with four home runs, 13 RBI, five stolen bases and 16 runs scored in 138 at-bats. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter should eventually be back in Pittsburgh, but he probably won't be anything more than a platoon center fielder. With Suwinski in the minors for the time being, it should open up more playing time in the outfield for Ji Hwan Bae and Connor Joe, which will in turn open up more action for the lefty-hitting Rowdy Tellez at first base in Pittsburgh.

Jack Suwinski Sitting On Monday

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski is on the bench to start Monday's contest against the Washington Nationals. It's been a tough start to the season for the lefty-swinging outfielder, but not from a performance standpoint but rather a playing time standpoint as the Pirates have faced a wealth of left-handed starters to begin the season and will do so again on Monday in the form of MacKenzie Gore. The 25-year-old started just two of the four games against the Marlins over the weekend, although he has still racked up 15 plate appearances thanks to pinch-hitting opportunities. He is 2-for-14 (.143) with a walk to begin the season but still offers a nice combination of power and speed coming off a 26-homer, 13-steal season in the 2023 campaign.
