Ben Williamson Heading to Rays in Three-Team Deal

The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring third baseman Ben Williamson from the Seattle Mariners on Monday in a three-team deal that also includes the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Williamson is mostly known for his glove at the hot corner. The 25-year-old former second-rounder in 2023 made his major-league debut in Seattle in 2025 and hit .253/.294/.310 with a .604 OPS, only one home run, 21 RBI, 36 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 277 at-bats over 85 games played. It was looking like he would benefit in 2026 with Eugenio Suarez signing with the Reds in free agency, but now that he's in Tampa, he'll most likely begin the season at Triple-A Durham with Junior Caminero locking down the third base job at the big-league level. Williamson also makes decent contact, but as a bench player with limited power, he won't be on the fantasy radar in Tampa.

Ben Williamson Drives In Four In Two-Hit Game

Seattle Mariners third baseman Ben Williamson went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBI, and a run scored in Saturday's 14-0 win over the Marlins. The former second-round draft pick has hit safely in nine of the first 11 games of his career, now with a five-game hit streak and a stretch of seven games in which he's scored at least one run. The right-handed hitter owns a .310/.356/.429 slash line and doesn't appear to be overmatched yet, striking out at a batter-than-league-average rate of 17.8 percent thus far. The 24-year-old never displayed much home run power in the minors but showed some speed, swiping 19 bags at Triple-A in 2024, although he's yet to run in the majors. Fantasy managers in AL-only and deeper leagues could look to Williamson for production at the hot corner, and he's still available in nearly all leagues.

Ben Williamson Being Promoted To Double-A

Seattle Mariners third base prospect Ben Williamson is being promoted to Double-A. Williamson has been progressing through the Seattle system very quickly over the past two seasons. Last season, he spent time in the Rookie League and Single-A and posted an overall .268/.318/.415 line. Then he began this season with High-A Modesto and posted a dominant .315/.408/.459 slash line through 29 games. He posted a strong 15:21 BB:K ratio, tallied eleven doubles, and swiped four bags. MLB Pipeline projects the 23-year-old to reach the major leagues in 2026, but that timeline could quickly change. He is moving through the Seattle Pipeline much faster than expected and could push for a major league promotion next season. Dynasty managers should monitor the former William and Mary graduate to see if he can carry this momentum into Double-A.
