Hyeseong Kim, Michael Kopech Reinstated From Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated infielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) and right-handed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) from the injured list with rosters expanding on Monday, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Kim is returning from the 10-day IL, while Kopech is back from the 60-day IL. Kim has been out since July 28 with shoulder bursitis and will return to the Dodgers as a super-utility player. He saw time at shortstop, second base and center field before his injury and could also be an option in left field for the Blue down the stretch and into the playoffs with Michael Conforto struggling mightily. The hard-throwing Kopech has been out since having surgery on July 1 to fix the meniscus in his right knee. Kopech struggled in just 5 1/3 big-league innings this season, so expect the Dodgers to ease him into high-leverage bullpen situations the rest of the year.

Hyeseong Kim Set to Return When Rosters Expand

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) is slated to be activated off the injured list when rosters expand on September 1, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Kim began a minor-league rehab assignment on August 21 and has done well, slashing .273/.292/.273 through six games. By waiting until after rosters expand to activate Kim, the Dodgers wouldn't need to clear room for him with another transaction. Kim has been solid when he gets his opportunities in the majors, slashing .304/.338/.406 in 138 at-bats, but is limited by the loaded roster the Dodgers have, and was not playing every day. Most notably, he has started playing left field with Triple-A Oklahoma City, which could allow manager Dave Roberts to get Kim into the game in more ways.

Hyeseong Kim Starts Rehab Assignment

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) started his rehab assignment with the Oklahoma City Comets on Thursday. He went 2-for-3 and played five innings in left field, which was his first time playing that position in his career. Kim's teammate, Enrique Hernandez, went 2-for-3 in his second rehab game and played in center field. Kim has proven capable of hitting for average at the MLB level, as he's hitting .304 in 138 at-bats. However, he has had a hard time finding consistent playing time due to the talent the Dodgers have in their starting lineup. Perhaps the exposure to the outfield will help manager Dave Roberts find other ways to get Kim into games more consistently. Currently, Kim is a dynasty stash only and should not be rostered in redraft formats.

Enrique Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim Starting Rehab Assignments

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Enrique Hernandez (elbow) and second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) are both expected to begin rehab assignments in Triple-A Oklahoma City this week, reports Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Hernandez has been out since July 5 with left elbow inflammation and has recently been participating in batting practice without issue. Kim has been sidelined since July 28 with left shoulder bursitis and was also recently able to take batting practice pain-free. He has a much better chance to see regular at-bats than Hernandez upon returning, as he's posted a .304 batting average and .338 on-base percentage this season and could become a primary infield option until Tommy Edman gets healthy.

Hyeseong Kim Could be Cleared For Live Batting Practice Later This Week

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) could be cleared to take live batting practice by the end of the week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Kim has resumed taking part in most baseball activities since landing on the injured list July 29 due to left shoulder bursitis, but facing live pitching is an encouraging sign he is heading in the right direction to be cleared before heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Late August appears to be realistic for the 26-year-old. Kim has produced when given the opportunities in a stacked lineup, slashing .304/.338/.406 with two home runs, 17 runs scored, 15 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 146 plate appearances. Even when Kim does return, he will likely be in a platoon with Miguel Rojas and Tommy Edman (ankle), making it difficult to trust him in redraft formats.

Hyeseong Kim Goes on Injured List With Shoulder Bursitis

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Tuesday that they placed infielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with left-shoulder bursitis and selected the contract of prized infield prospect Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Kim played in the series opener on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, but it's something that has been bothering him for a while now, so the Dodgers will give him some time to heal up. Although the 26-year-old rookie hasn't seen consistent playing time on a stacked Dodgers roster, he has taken advantage when he's been on the field with a .304/.338/.406 slash line, two home runs, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 138 at-bats. It's unclear if he'll be ready to return when eligible on Aug. 8. It's unclear how long Freeland will be up, but his power/speed profile could give him short-term fantasy appeal in redraft leagues with Kim, Tommy Edman (ankle) and Max Muncy (knee) all hurt.

Hyeseong Kim Could Serve Time On Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) could serve time on the injured list with a left shoulder injury, per the Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. The 26-year-old has been managing an injury for about a week and did not play on Sunday. However, he did start in Monday's 5-2 win over the Reds, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Kim has been solid in limited playing time this season, slashing .304/.338/.406 with two home runs, 15 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 146 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news, as Kim was healthy enough to play a full game on Monday.

Hyeseong Kim Expected to be Available Monday

The Los Angeles Dodgers said they'll "manage" Hyeseong Kim's shoulder injury, and expect him back in the lineup Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Kim has been dealing with this shoulder injury for about a week, but was lifted for a pinch hitter on Saturday and sat on Sunday. It appears that this injury is something Kim and the Dodgers plan to continue viewing as day-to-day, and he will continue to play through it. On the season, Kim is slashing .311/.345/.415 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 17 runs scored. Although he is hitting for a solid average after 135 MLB at-bats, his inconsistent playing time makes it difficult to start him in most formats. In addition, most of his advanced metrics display signs of regression, as evident by his .250 xBA and .278 xwOBA. He remains a dynasty stash at this point, unless injuries to the Dodger lineup force him to play more consistently in 2025.

Hyeseong Kim Out Sunday with Shoulder Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) has been playing through left-shoulder troubles over the past five to six days, manager Dave Roberts revealed. The Dodgers will give Kim off on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox as a result. Thanks in part to his shoulder, Kim has only managed to go 3-for-16 with no extra-base hits, eight strikeouts, and no walks in five games this week. Despite that, the 26-year-old rookie is still hitting an above-average .311/.345/.415 with two homers, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored, and a dozen stolen bases over 142 plate appearances.

Hyeseong Kim Could Get More Playing Time

Los Angeles Dodgers rookie infielder/outfielder Hyeseong Kim has turned heads in limited playing time this season. The 26-year-old has only amassed 83 plate appearances in 35 games, but he has slashed a robust .372/.410/.538 with two homers, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, and six stolen bases. Tommy Edman (ankle) has been the Dodgers' primary choice at second base despite dealing with ankle issues. However, Edman is now healthy enough to play the outfield on a more regular basis, manager Dave Roberts said Saturday. As a result, Kim could see more playing time at the keystone. He started at second and batted eighth against Kansas City Royals right-hander Seth Lugo on Saturday, while Edman took a seat. Kim is only rostered in 11% of Yahoo leagues, but that number will increase if Roberts does pencil his name into the lineup more often.
