Brock Stewart to Undergo Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Brock Stewart (shoulder) will undergo season-ending shoulder debridement surgery, manager Dave Roberts announced. The procedure could also cost Stewart some time next year, as general manager Brandon Gomes said that the Dodgers hope he'll be available for "the majority" of 2026. Stewart landed on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation on Aug. 12, just under two weeks after the Dodgers reacquired him from the Minnesota Twins at the July 31 trade deadline. He wound up throwing just 3 2/3 innings of two-run ball in his return to L.A. before going on the shelf. The 33-year-old posted terrific numbers with the Twins, though, and wrapped up his season with a 2.63 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, 44:13 K:BB, and 16 holds in 37 2/3 innings.

Brock Stewart Will Begin a Rehab Assignment Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Brock Stewart (shoulder) is close to returning to action for the Dodgers after being shut down in mid-August due to right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers acquired Stewart from the Twins at the trade deadline, but he only pitched 3 2/3 innings for the team before his time on the injured list. In his 43 games in total this season, Stewart has a 2.63 ERA and 3.20 FIP, with 44 strikeouts and 37 2/3 innings. The team expects Stewart to pitch on Tuesday and Thursday before being activated for the final week of the regular season. While he has limited fantasy appeal as a middle reliever, Stewart could earn a spot on the postseason roster if he finishes the year strong.

Brock Stewart Resumes Playing Catch

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brock Stewart (shoulder) has resumed playing light catch after being shut down from throwing for a week, per MLB.com. Stewart, who was acquired by the Dodgers at the trade deadline at the end of July, was placed on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 12 with right-shoulder inflammation. If he can continue to build up his arm after being shut down, Stewart could be an option for L.A.'s bullpen by the middle of September. The 33-year-old had a 2.38 ERA (3.09 FIP) and a 1.09 WHIP with 41 strikeouts and 11 walks in his 34 relief innings for the Minnesota Twins earlier this year before being traded to the Dodgers. He has made only four relief appearances for the Blue and allowed two earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three. Stewart has limited fantasy appeal as a middle reliever.

Brock Stewart has No Structural Damage in Shoulder

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart (shoulder) does not have any structural damage in his injured right shoulder, manager Dave Roberts told reporters. Rather, Stewart is dealing with "wear and tear," Roberts said. The Dodgers placed the 33-year-old on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with inflammation. Stewart has since received an injection and won't throw for at least a week. Los Angeles acquired Stewart from the Minnesota Twins at the July 31 trade deadline to help bolster its bullpen, but it hasn't worked out so far. Stewart has made four appearances since the trade and given up two earned runs on six hits with 3:2 K:BB in 3 2/3 innings. Overall, though, Stewart has pitched to a stingy 2.63 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP, 44:13 K:BB, and 16 holds across 37 2/3 frames.

Brock Stewart Heading to the 15-Day Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brock Stewart (shoulder), the Dodgers' big deadline acquisition for the bullpen, has some shoulder inflammation. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes they caught it early, but he's going on the 15-day IL, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. The Dodgers' bullpen continues to get hit with the injury bug, and Stewart will join Brusdar Graterol (shoulder), Michael Kopech (knee), Evan Phillips (elbow), Tanner Scott (elbow), and Kirby Yates (back) on the injured list. Stewart had last appeared in Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. At this time, it seems unclear the level of severity of the shoulder injury, and that he will undergo further testing on Wednesday. Stewart has had a nice season thus far, with a 2.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 44/13 K/BB in 37 2/3 innings pitched.

Brock Stewart Gets Traded to the Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, senior MLB insider Jeff Passan reports. The Minnesota Twins continue to be sellers at the deadline, as they trade right-handed reliever Stewart to the Dodgers. Stewart has had a nice season in 2025, with a 2.38 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 14 holds, and 41 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched. The Dodgers need bullpen help badly, as they currently rank 23rd in MLB for team ERA, with a 4.27 ERA. In addition, Tanner Scott (elbow) landed on the injured list on July 22. From a fantasy perspective, Stewart is likely to remain a middle reliever and has value if your league rewards holds. However, he is unlikely to get many, if any, save opportunities.

Brock Stewart Expected To Return On Sunday

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Brock Stewart (hamstring) is expected to return to action on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Stewart has been on the 15-day injured list through the early part of the campaign with a hamstring injury. He suffered this injury during a spring training contest in March. Stewart has made two rehab outings with Low-A for Myers and is on the verge of returning to the major leagues. In his rehab appearances, Stewart tossed one 2/3 shutout innings while striking out five batters. Last summer, Stewart struggled in Minnesota, posting a 5.17 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP across 15 2/3 innings of work. However, in 2023, the right-hander was a dominant high-leverage arm as he held a near-perfect 0.65 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP. He could be a viable source for holds if he is given high-leverage opportunities.

Brock Stewart Exits With Knee Injury

Minnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart (knee) exited Saturday's spring training contest with a knee injury. Stewart felt a "slight pull" behind his left knee. However, after the game, Stewart was feeling much better and testing afterwards went well. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his status, but this injury appears to not be very serious. Last season, Stewart logged just 15 2/3 innings in the major leagues as he dealt with a shoulder injury during most of the season. During this limited stint, he held a high 5.17 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP. He tallied 20 punchouts and served up walks at a high 11.9 percent rate. However, in 2023, Stewart was one of the most dominant relievers in the sport as he posted a near-perfect 0.65 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP across 27 2/3 innings. When healthy, he should contend for a high-leverage role in the bullpen.

Brock Stewart Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day

According to Phil Miller of the Star Tribune, Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Brock Stewart (shoulder) is expected to be ready for Opening Day. Stewart underwent shoulder surgery in August. He has been building up slower than the other members of the pitching staff but remains on track to be ready for Opening Day. The 33-year-old has thrown three bullpen sessions this month and has yet to face a setback from them. Last season, Stewart held a 5.17 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 15 2/3 innings of work last summer. He struck out 20 batters but struggled with his command as he held a high 11.9% walk rate. However, in 2023, he was dominant out of the bullpen as he posted a near-perfect 0.65 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP across 27 2/3 innings. Stewart will likely return to a high-leverage role in 2025.

Brock Stewart May Not Be Ready For Spring Training

The Minnesota Twins are unsure if right-handed reliever Brock Stewart (shoulder) will be ready for the start of spring training in February despite starting his throwing program in mid-November. Stewart was given a recovery timeline of five to six months after he had season-ending arthroscopic right-shoulder surgery in August. The 33-year-old has been very productive out of Minnesota's bullpen when healthy, but he might not be available to begin next season. Stewart had a 5.17 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in just 15 2/3 innings pitched in 2024, but the year before, he was lights-out with a 0.65 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, one save and 39 strikeouts in 27 2/3 relief innings for the Twins. He has good control and a high-velocity fastball that can rack up plenty of strikeouts as a high-leverage reliever. When healthy, he has the potential to be a nice target for holds.
