Brock Stewart Could Return This Week

Minnesota Twins right-hander Brock Stewart (shoulder), who has an 0.68 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings this year, could come off the injured list for the current series against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Stewart was back in the team's clubhouse on Monday after striking out the side in a minor-league rehab outing against Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, his fourth rehab appearance. He hasn't pitched for the Twins since May 1 due to a right-shoulder strain but has struck out eight in four innings for Triple-A St. Paul and hasn't walked a batter in his last three appearances. Stewart's addition would only strengthen a bullpen that is among the best in baseball that already includes Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax and Jorge Alcala.

Brock Stewart Building Up For Rehab Assignment

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Brock Stewart (shoulder) has been working on throwing plyo balls to build up for a potential rehab assignment. Stewart was placed on the IL in early May with right shoulder tendonitis. The 32-year-old had been one of Minnesota's more reliable relievers, sporting a miniscule 0.68 ERA and notching seven holds in 13 appearances. Stewart is unlikely to return to the majors any time soon and will need to start working off a mound before being able to be considered for a rehab assignment. Fantasy managers shouldn't need to worry about having Stewart on their radar for at least another month or so. Once he's able to complete a rehab assignment then he can be targeted on the waiver wire.

Brock Stewart To Return Soon

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Brock Stewart (elbow) is expected to make his return to the mound soon. Manager Rocco Baldelli said on Friday that Stewart will return shortly after the All-Star break. That's great news considering how well Stewart was pitching before he went down in late-June. He holds a 0.70 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 35.4% strikeout rate with seven holds and one save in 25.7 innings this season. He doesn't have great fantasy value because of the fact he doesn't get many save chances. Regardless, the Twins will be happy to get Stewart back soon.

Brock Stewart Expected To Return Soon After All-Star Break

Minnesota Twins right-hander Brock Stewart (elbow) is expected to return from the injured list "soon" after next week's All-Star break, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. It's good news for the Twins bullpen, as Stewart has been great for the Twins in relief in 2023 in his 25 relief appearances. In 25 2/3 innings pitched, he's allowed just two earned runs on 15 hits while walking 11 and striking out 35. He also picked up his second career save and has two wins. The 31-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list since last week with right-elbow tendinitis, but he's nearing a return and could continue to be fantasy relevant for those in deeper leagues.

Brock Stewart Throwing From 90 Feet

Minnesota Twins right-hander Brock Stewart (elbow) has been playing catch from 90 feet without any issues, according to MLB.com. However, the 31-year-old will still be out for "several weeks" before he can return from the elbow soreness that forced him to the injured list in late June. Stewart was coming into his own over 25 2/3 innings before the ailment, pitching to a 0.70 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 35.4% strikeout rate with seven holds and one save. If fantasy managers in hold formats have room, they can stash the fifth-year arm, but otherwise, he can be let go.

Brock Stewart Placed On Injured List

The Minnesota Twins placed relief pitcher Brock Stewart (elbow) on the 15-injured list on Tuesday with elbow soreness and recalled reliever Oliver Ortega from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. It remains to be seen how long Stewart will be out of action, but he'll miss at least the next two weeks and probably won't be back before the All-Star break in mid-July. The 31-year-old right-hander has been lights-out in the Twins bullpen this year with a 2-0 record, 0.70 ERA (2.45 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, one save, 11 walks and 35 strikeouts in 25 2/3 relief innings. Although he has just one save on the season, Stewart has absolutely been fantasy relevant for his ratios and in leagues that count holds.

Twins Bring Up Brock Stewart

The Minnesota Twins selected the contract of right-hander Brock Stewart from Triple-A St. Paul and designated pitcher Trevor Megill for assignment in a corresponding move on Tuesday. Stewart, 31, will be making his first appearance in the big leagues since splitting time with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays back in 2019, when he had a rough 9.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 25 2/3 relief innings. He had Tommy John surgery during his time away from the big leagues, but he looks to be healthy now after allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking only two and fanning 17 batters in 8 2/3 relief innings for St. Paul before his call-up. The hard-throwing Stewart will beef up Minnesota's bullpen.

Cubs Cut Carlos Asuaje, Brock Stewart

The Chicago Cubs are in the process of cutting minor league players, and that includes second baseman Carlos Asuaje and relief pitcher Brock Stewart. Asuaje was last in the big leagues with the Padres in 2018 and hit .196 in 79 games. Stewart was taken in the Rule 5 draft and owns a career 6.05 ERA in four seasons between the Dodgers and Blue Jays.

Clayton Kershaw Headed Back To The Disabled List

The Los Angeles Dodgers received some bad news on starting pitcherClayton Kershaw(back) on Friday, as the lefty is headed back to the disabled list due to ongoing issues with his back. He started earlier this week after missing a month of games, but only lasted five innings and seemed unable to throw his fastball above 90 mph. He only gave up a single run but left the game early with "back stiffness." The team hasn't revealed the results of an MRI yet, but Kershaw wasn't listed on the lineup card on Friday, with pitcherBrock Stewart taking his place on the 25-man roster. It's concerning since Kershaw missed a lot of time on the DL last year with a very similar injury. You'll need to hang onto him in all leagues, but be prepared for another lengthy absence, depending on the MRI results.

Brock Stewart Likely to Start for Dodgers on Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Brock Stewart will likely start on Tuesday in place of the injured Rich Hill. The Dodgers have not officially named Stewart the starter for an unknown reason, but all signs point to him getting the ball. Stewart has made five starts at Triple-A this season, posting a 2.08 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 21 2/3 innings. He also has 5 2/3 innings in three relief appearances in the bigs this year. Stewart should be a good mid-tier starting option on Tuesday as the Dodgers host the Rockies.
