Artie Lewicki Will Miss All Of 2019 Season
Detroit Tigers pitcher Artie Lewicki (elbow) will miss the remainder of the 2018 season and all of 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, the team announced today. Lewicki has spent time this season at both Triple-A Toledo and at the Major League level, and posted a 4.89 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings. It will be his second elbow reconstruction surgery, as Lewicki had to have the same surgery while pitching for the University of Virginia. Multiple surgeries don't exactly bode well for the 26-year-old, but hopefully he can come back healthy in 2020.
