Brandon Lowe Sitting on Friday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe is not in the lineup on Friday against the Chicago Cubs. Richie Palacios will handle the keystone in Lowe's absence and hit seventh in a meeting with left-hander Matthew Boyd. Lowe, who's out of the lineup for the first time since Aug. 4, has slumped in his first 10 games this month. He's 8-for-38 (.211) with four doubles, three RBI, and a whopping 16 strikeouts against two walks in September. The 31-year-old has still been among the league's most productive second basemen this season, though, having slashed .260/.312/.478 with 28 homers, 74 RBI, 72 runs, and three steals in 506 plate appearances.

Brandon Lowe Activated and Playing on Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (foot) was activated off the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Lowe is back in the mix after missing the minimum of 10 days on the IL due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He'll get right back into the swing of things as he bats second while covering second base versus right-hander Will Warren on Wednesday. Lowe has been hitting the ball well enough to warrant rostering in most standard 12-team formats right now. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Lowe back into their lineups ahead of Wednesday's game. In a corresponding move, infielder Tristan Gray has been optioned to Triple-A Durham.

Brandon Lowe Expected To Return on Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (ankle/foot) is on track to return on the first day that he's eligible to be reinstated from the injured list, which is Wednesday, when the Rays take on the Yankees in New York. Lowe was placed on the injured list due to Left ankle/foot tendinitis after initially the injury was referred to as plantar fasciitis, and Lowe was planning to play through it. Even if he's at less than 100%, he is apparently ready enough to return to action. He has been very productive when available this season, hitting .269 with 19 homers, 50 RBI, and a .344 wOBA in 86 games. He has hit exactly 21 homers in each of the last two years and should be able to exceed that number if he can stay healthy and in the lineup the rest of the way for Tampa Bay. The Rays start Tuesday's action nine games back of the Blue Jays in the AL East and 2.5 games behind the Red Sox for the third and final Wild Card spot. Getting Lowe back in their lineup will give their playoff chances a boost.

Rays Place Brandon Lowe on Injured List

The Tampa Bay Rays placed infielder Brandon Lowe (ankle, foot) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with left-ankle/foot tendinitis, according to Bally Sports' Ryan Bass. It was announced on Saturday that Lowe was removed from the game due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but now he's apparently dealing with ankle and foot tendinitis. Either way, the 31-year-old All-Star is going to miss at least 10 days and potentially longer. It's a tough break for the Rays and for Lowe's fantasy managers, as he was having one of the best years of his career in the first half with a .269/.320/.480 slash line, .800 OPS, 19 home runs, 50 RBI, 55 runs and three steals in 323 at-bats. With Lowe out for at least the next 10 days, expect the Rays to mix and match with Jose Caballero and Taylor Walls at the keystone.

Brandon Lowe Remains Absent on Monday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (foot) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. This marks the second game in a row that Lowe has missed after exiting Saturday's contest. Lowe is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. This is the type of issue that really only heals with rest, so it wouldn't be shocking if Lowe heads to the injured list. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Taylor Walls will cover second base and bat ninth versus Sean Burke on Monday.

Brandon Lowe Out of Lineup on Sunday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (foot) is not in the lineup for his team's game on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles. Lowe was pulled early from Tampa Bay's game on Saturday, but has not yet been placed on the injured list. The 30-year-old previously missed time this season with an oblique issue and has historically battled the injury bug for much of his career. He's been very productive when healthy this season, slashing .269/.320/.480 with 19 home runs, 50 RBI, and 55 runs scored in 350 plate appearances. Lowe is reportedly dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. That's an injury that will likely linger throughout the remainder of the regular season, so fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on his status.

Brandon Lowe Dealing with Plantar Fasciitis

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (foot) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. He was pulled out after grounding out to third base in the sixth inning. That was a bad sign considering Lowe just returned from an oblique injury on Friday. It's not an oblique issue, but Lowe is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He won't be in the starting lineup on Sunday, but is reportedly available off the bench. It's the kind of issue that really only heals with rest, so fantasy managers should consider Lowe as day-to-day.

Brandon Lowe Removed Early on Saturday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (undisclosed) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. It's unclear what happened to Lowe, but he was pulled out of the game after grounding out in his third at-bat. He was activated off the injured list on Friday. Possibly, Lowe re-aggravated his oblique issue, but the team should give an update on his status shortly. When healthy, Lowe is a stud, so fantasy managers should continue to hold him for now. He went 0-for-3 at the plate before being pulled out. Jose Caballero took over at second base and figures to see an extended look there if Lowe misses time.

Brandon Lowe Back From 10-Day Injured List

The Tampa Bay Rays reinstated infielder Brandon Lowe (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned infielder Curtis Mead to Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. The Rays haven't released their starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles yet to begin the second half of the season, but Lowe should be back at second base as he looks to continue what has been a fantastic campaign for him. The 31-year-old veteran made his second All-Star team this year by slashing .272/.324/.487 with an .811 OPS, 19 home runs, 50 RBI, 54 runs scored and three stolen bases in 84 games played. Because of injuries, Lowe has played in over 100 games in only three of his seven MLB seasons. But if he can stay healthy the rest of the way, he could have a shot at challenging his career high of 39 long balls, set in 2021.

Brandon Lowe to be Re-Evaluated on Thursday

Tampa Bay Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said that second baseman Brandon Lowe (oblique) is feeling good but will be re-evaluated after a workout on Thursday to determine if he'll come off the 10-day injured list for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles to kick off the second half of the season, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Lowe was put on the IL last Friday with a minor oblique injury, but he could return this weekend after not playing since July 6. The Rays will be cautious with one of their potential trade chips this summer (if they decide to sell), though. The 31-year-old veteran made his second All-Star team this year by hitting .272/.324/.487 with an .811 OPS, 19 home runs, 50 RBI, 54 runs scored and three steals in 84 games in the first half. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Friday to see if he's activated and in the starting lineup.
