Brandon Moss Has Been Released

Oakland Athletics first baseman Brandon Moss went unclaimed on waivers and was released, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com. The Athletics traded for Moss from the Royals at the end of January, but were looking to get rid of him right away. Unfortunately for Moss, the team could not find a trade partner and Moss also went unclaimed during the waiver process. Moss batted an ugly .207/.279/.428 last season and is owed $8.25 million in 2018, although the Royals are covering $3.25 million of that.

Brandon Moss Could Be On His Way Out Of Oakland Already

Oakland Athletics first baseman Brandon Moss was acquired by Oakland earlier Monday, but Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Athletics "will try to find a taker" for Moss. The A's acquired Moss from the Royals on Monday, but he does not look to have much of a path to playing time in Oakland, so they will look to deal him elsewhere. It figures to prove difficult, as Moss batted an ugly .207/.279/.428 last season, and there are still plenty of power bats available. He is owed $8.25 million, although the Royals are covering $3.25 million of that.

Brandon Moss Traded To Athletics

Kansas City Royals first baseman/designated hitter Brandon Moss and relief pitcher Ryan Buchter were traded to the Oakland Athletics, according to Jeffrey Flanagan on Twitter. Starting pitcher Jesse Hahn and pitching prospect Heath Fillmyer will be headed to Kansas City in this minor deal. Hahn may compete for the Royals rotation and Moss could provide left-handed power, but there is not much fantasy value from the players in this trade.

Brandon Moss Sitting On Tuesday

The Kansas City Royals continue to shuffle their lineup as designated hitter Brandon Moss will take a seat against St. Louis on Tuesday. Cheslor Cuthbert will be the player who takes his spot though Mike Moustakas will officially be the DH for the evening. After an atrocious start to the season, Moss has picked it up in the second half. He's hitting .250 with five home runs so far in 20 games in the latter half of the season.

Brandon Moss Back in Starting Lineup

With the Kansas City Royals returning to an American League park for the first time in a week, designated hitter Brandon Moss is slated to start on Thursday. Moss had been relegated to pinch-hitting duty while the team played through an interleague road trip, but with the Royals squaring off against the Angels, Moss will be hitting eighth. Hopefully, the time off will allow Moss to come out of his recent funk. He had only logged three hits in his last 23 at-bats prior to the road trip.

Brandon Moss Jacks Ninth Homer

Kansas City Royals designated hitter and first baseman Brandon Moss is quickly pulling his season out of the doldrums. Moss homered against the Indians on Friday to bring his season total up to nine, and he's even hitting .323 over his last eight games. This hasn't quite been enough to offset his horrible start, as he's still only hitting .198 on the season, but Moss is at least making progress and slugging .871 over that same eight-game span is impressive for any major league hitter. Moss will never hit for a high average, but owners might want to buy in now while his season numbers are still depressed and ride the hot wave.

Brandon Moss Is Coming Around

After an atrocious start to the season, Kansas City Royals designated hitter Brandon Moss is starting to get back into his groove. He hit two more home runs on Sunday to help accentuate that point. Moss was ice cold to start the season, hitting just .125 with two home runs through April 24. However, in the 15 games since that date, Moss has hit six homers and batted .269. While Moss is always going to strike out a lot, he's cut his strikeout rate to 29.1 percent during that time as well. This has allowed his season rate to drop to 34.2 percent, which is only seven percent above his career average. Expect Moss to eventually cool down from his current hot streak, but his swings from hot to cold should eventually lead to season totals of approximately 25 home runs and a .215 batting average.
