Henry Bolte Emerging as a High-End Speed Option on the Waiver Wire

After recording a 1.076 OPS across 177 plate appearances to open the year at Triple-A, Athletics outfielder Henry Bolte earned a promotion to the big leagues in mid-May. The 22-year-old has continued to hit at the MLB level, slashing .313/.385/.396 with one home run, seven RBI, 10 runs scored, and six stolen bases across 109 plate appearances since making his debut. Bolte has struck out in 29.4% of his trips to the plate, so his batting average is likely to fall off to some degree as his .453 batting average on balls in play regresses to the mean. Still, Bolte has emerged as the everyday center fielder for the Athletics and possesses elite speed. Across 114 minor league games in 2025, Bolte swiped 44 bags. For fantasy managers in need of speed, Bolte profiles as a high-upside waiver wire target.

Elvis Alvarado Takes Loss for Athletics, Should Managers Be Concerned?

Athletics right-hander Elvis Alvarado was charged with the loss after allowing a solo home run in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 6-5 defeat to the Pirates. Alvarado had been pitching much better after a rough start to the season, posting a 1.42 ERA in June before this setback. His season numbers now sit at a 5.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, along with two saves in 15 appearances. The Athletics have not settled on a full-time closer, and Alvarado remains one of several relievers receiving late-inning opportunities. While he struggled in this outing, the overall trend for Alvarado has been positive after a difficult start to the season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 27-year-old closely, as he remains in the mix for leverage opportunities in an unsettled Athletics bullpen.

Zack Gelof Flashing Five-Category Upside, Entering Must-Add Territory?

Athletics infielder/outfielder Zack Gelof is forcing his way back onto fantasy rosters with a strong multi-category surge. The 26-year-old is batting .275 with nine home runs, 26 RBI, 32 runs, seven stolen bases, and a .798 OPS over 189 at-bats. Gelof has been even better during his current hot stretch, hitting .322 with three homers, eight RBI, 11 runs, one steal, and a .559 SLG over his last 15 games. Gelof also pushed his hitting streak to 19 games on Monday, giving fantasy managers another reason to pay closer attention to this surge. Strikeouts are still part of the profile (25.5% K%), but his power, speed, and multi-position eligibility in some formats make him useful in standard category leagues. His 43% Yahoo roster rate leaves enough waiver-wire availability for managers to act where flexibility and category balance are priorities.

Nick Kurtz Continues Power Binge With Two More Homers

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz is as hot as they come right now. In the A's 11-2 blowout win over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night, Kurtz went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI, and a walk to raise his season average to .293 and his OPS to 1.006. Both of his home runs on the night were powered to the opposite field and were light-tower shots. Overall in his second season in the big leagues, Kurtz is hitting .293/.443/.563 with 18 home runs, a league-high 57 RBI, 51 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 325 plate appearances. The former fourth overall pick out of Wake Forest University in 2024 immediately turned into a fantasy star in his rookie campaign last year, hitting .290 (122-for-420) with 36 home runs and 86 RBI in 117 games played. Kurtz also leads the league this year with his 67 walks and .443 on-base percentage. So far in June, he's crushing baseballs to the tune of a .313 average (15-for-48) with eight home runs, a double, 16 RBI, 12 runs, and a steal. The combination of his elite raw power and his hitter-friendly home park in Sacramento is certainly paying off for fantasy managers.

Gage Jump Proving Worthy of a Waiver-Wire Pickup Despite Inexperience?

Athletics rookie left-hander Gage Jump, who is considered the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has more than held his own in his first four major-league starts. The 23-year-old former second-round pick in 2024 out of Louisiana State University has gone 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA (2.51 FIP) and 1.11 WHIP with 19 strikeouts and six walks in 23 1/3 innings pitched. The young southpaw allowed four earned runs in five innings to the Seattle Mariners in his MLB debut on May 26, but he followed that up with two quality starts versus the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros. At the hitter-friendly minor-league venues of Sacramento and Las Vegas, Jump has surrendered seven runs in 10 innings in two starts, while he's been much better on the road. In shallow-mixed fantasy leagues, fantasy managers should keep an eye on Jump, while in deeper leagues, he's worth considering off the waiver wire as a matchup-based streamer. He has pitched well enough so far to keep his rotation spot once Aaron Civale (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Elvis Alvarado Emerging as Priority Closer to Pick Up?

Athletics right-hander Elvis Alvarado struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rockies. He has now converted saves in each of his last two outings and has pitched 5 scoreless innings since returning to the big-league roster on June 5. Alvarado has put himself firmly in the mix in the Athletics' closing committee. Hogan Harris, Scott Barlow, Justin Sterner, Jack Perkins, and Alvarado have all recorded at least one save for the Athletics this season. Through 15 innings this season, Alvarado owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with a 20:7 K:BB ratio, while adding two saves and four holds. With momentum on his side, he's worth a look for fantasy managers chasing saves and is currently rostered in just 3% of Yahoo leagues.

Leo De Vries  • SS  •  Athletics

Could Leo De Vries Make His MLB Debut in 2026?

Athletics infield prospect Leo De Vries is only 19 years old, but there's a chance that he could make an impact in fantasy baseball as early as this year. Acquired from the Padres in last summer's Mason Miller trade, De Vries is a teenager who is capable of playing either spot on the left side of the infield. He projects as a shortstop long-term, and the nice pairing of his defensive and offensive production should offer him a long major league career. Across 53 Double-A games this year, he's slashing .283/.369/.385 with five home runs, 20 steals, a 10.5% walk rate, a 21.0% strikeout rate, and 103 wRC+. Although we don't anticipate the A's would shuttle him right from Double-A to the majors, his numbers so far suggest that he's worthy of a promotion to Triple-A. Since it's only June, De Vries could spend a couple of months contributing in Triple-A before joining the major league club for the final stretch of the regular season and (potential) playoff push. His plus-plus speed makes him an intriguing waiver wire stash in deeper redraft leagues, even if his MLB debut is at least a couple of months away.

Hogan Harris  • RP  •  Athletics

Athletics Turn to Hogan Harris for Another Save, Is He the Closer to Roster?

Athletics left-hander Hogan Harris picked up his sixth save of 2026 on Friday, striking out two across 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his team's 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies. Across 33 2/3 innings (36 games) on the year, Harris has pitched to a 2.67 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 39 strikeouts, six saves, and 10 holds. The Athletics have opted for a committee approach in the closer role for most of 2026, but Harris may be settling in as the team's preferred option. He's worked in the ninth inning in five out of his last six appearances, notching two saves and a blown save in that span. The 30-year-old owns a worrisome 15.2% walk rate and an unimpressive 10.6% K-BB rate, so fantasy managers may not want to rely on Harris for high-end closer production. Still, Harris looks like the favorite for saves in the Athletics bullpen and could be worth targeting on the waiver wire in leagues where he remains available.

Jacob Wilson  • SS  •  Athletics

Jacob Wilson Activated, Playing on Friday

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson (shoulder) was activated off the 10-day Injured List ahead of Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Wilson is back in the mix after being sidelined since May 11 due to a dislocated left shoulder. He won't miss a beat as Wilson is at shortstop and batting fifth against the Rockies on Friday. Before landing on the shelf, Wilson was slashing .292/.311/.398 with three home runs and 19 RBI in 39 games. There's enough upside with the bat to warrant rostering Wilson in most fantasy formats right now. His return to the field will mean reduced playing time for Alika Williams. In a corresponding move, outfielder Brent Rookier (knee) was placed on the 10-day Injured List.

Brent Rooker Lands on 10-Day Injured List

Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker (knee) was placed on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to June 9. Rooker was out of the lineup on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a knee issue. The team will officially place him on the shelf due to a bone bruise in his left knee. His timetable to return is unclear at the moment. The A's will likely wait the 10 days and see how he progresses before making any further decisions. In a corresponding move, infielder Jacob Wilson (shoulder) was reinstated from the Injured List. Shea Langeliers, Jonah Heim, and Carlos Cortes are all candidates to see time at designated hitter while Rooker is down.

Elvis Alvarado Earns First Save, a Name to Watch in A's Committee?

Athletics relief pitcher Elvis Alvarado closed out his team's 4-3 win on Wednesday night after Hogan Harris pitched the eighth inning. Alvarado faced the middle of the Brewers' lineup and struck out Christian Yelich and Brice Turang as part of his 1-2-3 ninth inning. Alvarado has allowed nine runs in his 14 innings this year for a 5.79 ERA, but he also has 18 strikeouts and a 30.5% K%. He only has this one save, but he is stepping into a bigger role. Harris, Mason Barnett, and Mark Leiter Jr. are all still in the mix as well, but Alvarado is worth monitoring with his elite strikeout stuff and the potential to continue to trend into a larger role.

Brent Rooker Out Again on Wednesday, Managing Knee Soreness

Athletics outfielder Brent Rooker (knee) is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Wednesday in Las Vegas against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers due to knee soreness that the team is managing, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Manager Mark Kotsay said the A's will wait to see how Rooker feels during Thursday's off day before potentially deciding on whether to place him on the injured list. With Rooker out again on Wednesday, Carlos Cortes will serve as the team's designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot, with Lawrence Butler starting in right field and hitting sixth against Brewers right-hander Brandon Sproat. It's been a pretty rough season for the 31-year-old Rooker so far. The two-time right-handed slugger enters Wednesday's action with a .200/.281/.389 slash line, .670 OPS, 10 home runs, 29 RBI, 20 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 180 at-bats in 2026. He has looked better in seven games in June, going 6-for-25 (.240) with two homers, a double, three RBI, and five runs scored, but now he might be headed for a stay on the IL.

Tyler Soderstrom Continues to Heat Up With Two Homers on Monday Night

Athletics first baseman/outfielder Tyler Soderstrom stayed hot in Monday night's wild 15-14 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in Las Vegas, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, four RBI, and two walks to boost his season batting average to .237 and his OPS to .790. There was no shortage of offense from either side in this contest, which required 12 innings to complete. His first home run was a three-run shot in the third inning, and he added a solo homer in the seventh inning, with both of his round-trippers coming off left-handed pitchers. The 24-year-old left-handed slugger has been hot for a while now, going 23-for-62 (.371) with five homers, three doubles, a triple, 14 RBI, and seven runs scored in his last 18 games, dating back to May 20. The recent hot stretch at the plate has boosted Soderstrom's overall slash line in 2026 to .237/.333/.457 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, 29 runs scored, and a stolen base in 63 games across 267 plate appearances. Surprisingly, half of his homers this year have come off southpaws.

Nick Kurtz on a Homer Binge, Goes Deep Twice in Wild Loss

There was no shortage of offense between the Milwaukee Brewers and Athletics on Monday night in Las Vegas, with the Brewers eventually prevailing 15-14 in 12 innings. Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz had a day at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored, a walk, and three strikeouts. His first blast was a solo shot in the sixth inning, and he later added a two-run homer in an electrifying back-and-forth game. After a somewhat slow start to his sophomore campaign, the 23-year-old left-handed slugger has now homered three times in the last two games and six times in his last 10 games. With Monday's strong performance to continue his hot streak, Kurtz is now slashing .282/.434/.521 with a .956 OPS, 14 long balls, 48 RBI, 45 runs scored, and seven stolen bases across his 234 at-bats in 2026. The former fourth overall pick in 2024 out of Wake Forest University is one of the best pure slugging options in baseball, let alone at the first base position. Kurtz is a must-start every day in fantasy lineups.

Hogan Harris  • RP  •  Athletics

Hogan Harris Blows Second Save, Will he Remain Primary Option in Athletics Bullpen?

Athletics relief pitcher Hogan Harris entered the eighth inning of Monday night's wild, 15-14 loss to the Brewers. He couldn't secure the five-out save even though he escaped the eighth inning by inducing a double-play from Brice Turang. In the ninth, he ran into trouble and allowed a two-run double to Andrew Vaughn before striking out the side to avoid further damage. He left the game tied at 10 and was charged with two earned runs on two hits in 1 2/3 innings. Harris is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA and 3.96 FIP in his 31 2/3 innings this season and has nine holds and five saves to go with his two blown saves this year. With Joel Kuhnel traded and Jack Perkins in the rotation, Harris will likely remain a key part of the closer committee with Scott Barlow and Mark Leiter Jr. He's still the slight favorite of the three for save chances, but the A's will continue to rotate options at the end of games, making all of their bullpen arms hard to count on for fantasy production.

Henry Bolte Earning More Playing Time, Emerging as a Top Waiver-Wire Target

Since earning a promotion to the big leagues in mid-May, Athletics outfielder Henry Bolte has hit .309/.392/.368 with zero home runs, five RBI, five runs scored, and four stolen bases across 79 plate appearances. The 22-year-old may now be moving into an everyday role for the A's, as Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler owns a .501 OPS this season and has begun to cede playing time to Bolte. While Bolte's power has been lacking in the big leagues so far, he hit 12 home runs across 177 plate appearances at Triple-A before being called up by the Athletics. He's also made consistently solid contact despite the lack of home runs, as he's posted a 53.2% hard hit rate. Swing-and-miss is a bit of a concern for Bolte, as he's struck out in 27.8% of his plate appearances. His batting average has been buoyed by a .447 batting average on balls in play, which fantasy managers should expect to regress. Still, Bolte's demonstrated speed and power upside make him an intriguing waiver wire target.

Max Muncy Reinstated From Injured List on Monday

The Athletics reinstated infielder Max Muncy (hand) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and optioned infielder Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Muncy, who has been out of action since late April due to a fractured left hand, went 10-for-27 on his minor-league rehab assignment with three home runs and two doubles in seven games. The 23-year-old should be back in the starting lineup for the A's on Monday, although the team is facing a tough left-handed pitcher in Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Kyle Harrison. With Zack Gelof hitting well and occupying third base in Sacramento for the A's, Muncy could play regularly at the 6 for the A's upon his return, at least until Jacob Wilson (shoulder) returns from his own stint on the IL. The former first-rounder in 2021 was hitting just .239 (22-for-92) at the plate with two home runs, seven RBI, 15 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 26 games at the time of his hand fracture, and he's rostered in only 9% of Yahoo leagues right now.

Zack Gelof a Top Pickup for Power-Speed Upside?

Athletics infielder Zack Gelof has played his way back into fantasy relevance after opening the season at Triple-A Las Vegas. Before his April 10 recall, the 26-year-old hit .366/.519/.732 with four home runs in 11 games. He has continued to provide useful category production in the majors, hitting .265 with six home runs, 21 RBI, six stolen bases, and a .743 OPS across 155 at-bats. Gelof still carries some swing-and-miss risk, but his power-speed blend makes him one of the more interesting low-rostered infielders on the waiver wire. The current MLB production is backed by his hot start at Triple-A, giving fantasy managers a reason to buy into the upside. Rostered in 20% of Yahoo leagues, Gelof is a strong pickup for managers looking to add infield help with power, speed, and room for more production.

Jacob Wilson is Beginning Rehab Assignment on Saturday

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson (shoulder) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. Wilson is back in game action after being sidelined since mid-May due to a partial left shoulder dislocation. The A's haven't said how many games they plan on having Wilson play before bringing him back up to the big league club. It shouldn't take too long, so fantasy managers should expect to have Wilson back in the mix at some point next week. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on his status early next week. Wilson is a decent stash option in 12-team formats with his return looming.

Gage Jump  • SP  •  Athletics

Gage Jump Emerging as a Priority SP Target Off the Waiver Wire

Athletics left-hander Gage Jump made his major league debut on May 26 and has shown the kind of stuff that made him a notable pitching prospect coming out of LSU. Through his first two big-league starts, Jump owns a 3.75 ERA with 10 strikeouts across 12 innings. He bounced back from a shaky debut by holding the Chicago Cubs to one run over seven innings Tuesday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five to earn his first MLB win. He has shown the ability to miss bats with a fastball that sits 93-96 mph and a sharp slider. Jump's fantasy appeal comes from the strikeout upside he showed before his promotion. The 23-year-old recorded 56 strikeouts in 38 innings over nine starts at Triple-A Las Vegas, giving him enough swing-and-miss ability to matter if he sticks in the Athletics' rotation. The sample is still small, and young pitchers on struggling teams can be volatile, but Jump is worth a speculative add on the waiver wire in leagues with 12 teams or more for managers looking for starting pitching help.
