Leo De Vries Nearing Triple-A Promotion?

Athletics infield prospect Leo De Vries has continued to enjoy a hot streak at Double-A and turned in another strong showing on Saturday. Facing Double-A Frisco, De Vries went 2-for-5 with his 10th long ball of the season. Over his last 17 games with Midland, the No. 2-ranked prospect in baseball (per MLB.com) has posted a sharp .268/.373/.549 line with five of these home runs. However, prior to this noted stretch, the 19-year-old has posted a .278/.365/.378 line with just six doubles and five long balls over his first 54 games of the season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor De Vries' production as he should be in the mix to join Triple-A shortly after the All-Star break. If he can carry this production into the top level, a late-season MLB debut could remain in play.

Leo De Vries Putting Tools on Display, Ready for Promotion to Triple-A?

Athletics shortstop prospect Leo De Vries continues to look plenty comfortable at Double-A Midland. MLB's No. 2 prospect overall is 7-for-23 (.304) over his last five games, including two doubles, a home run, a 2:4 BB:K, and even back-to-back three-steal games. For the season, the switch-hitter is slashing .283/.375/.426 with nine home runs and 28 stolen bases, while posting solid strikeout (20.6 percent) and walk rates (11.3 percent) despite being one of the youngest players at Double-A. A promotion to Triple-A in the coming weeks could be in the offing, and at that point, the toolsy Dominican would be at the doorstep to the majors. At 19 years old, a debut in the big leagues would be quite the feat, but given his talent, it also wouldn't be a surprise, so fantasy managers should keep him on their radar.

Leo De Vries Enjoying Power Binge, On the Doorstep of Triple-A Promotion?

Athletics infield prospect Leo De Vries has been among the top hitters in the minors over the last week and is now on call-up watch as he nears a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas. Over his last 10 games with Double-A Midland, the team's No. 1-ranked prospect has gone deep four times while carrying a stellar .250/.375/.625 line with a 9:7 K:BB and two stolen bases. Overall, De Vries has held a .278/.370/.424 line over his first extended look at Double-A action. While he only has nine home runs on the season, seeing the budding superstar begin to tap into his raw power is a very positive sign. While managers should not expect him to be in strong contention to reach the Athletics in the second half, if he can earn the call to Triple-A in the near future, the door will be open. For now, De Vries remains a must-roster high-end dynasty/keeper asset and could find himself on the redraft radar following a promotion to the top club.

Could Leo De Vries Make His MLB Debut in 2026?

Athletics infield prospect Leo De Vries is only 19 years old, but there's a chance that he could make an impact in fantasy baseball as early as this year. Acquired from the Padres in last summer's Mason Miller trade, De Vries is a teenager who is capable of playing either spot on the left side of the infield. He projects as a shortstop long-term, and the nice pairing of his defensive and offensive production should offer him a long major league career. Across 53 Double-A games this year, he's slashing .283/.369/.385 with five home runs, 20 steals, a 10.5% walk rate, a 21.0% strikeout rate, and 103 wRC+. Although we don't anticipate the A's would shuttle him right from Double-A to the majors, his numbers so far suggest that he's worthy of a promotion to Triple-A. Since it's only June, De Vries could spend a couple of months contributing in Triple-A before joining the major league club for the final stretch of the regular season and (potential) playoff push. His plus-plus speed makes him an intriguing waiver wire stash in deeper redraft leagues, even if his MLB debut is at least a couple of months away.

Leo De Vries Riding Six-Game Hit Streak, Triple-A Around the Corner?

Athletics shortstop prospect Leo De Vries is looking quite comfortable at Double-A Midland to start 2026, currently riding a six-game hit streak, with two three-hit performances in his last two contests. It's pushed his season-long slash line to .333/.429/.528 with two home runs, two steals, and a strong 6:8 BB:K. The switch-hitter was the headliner in the trade package that brought Mason Miller to San Diego in 2025, and he hit markedly better once he joined the A's organization, slashing .276/.351/.538 with seven home runs in 36 games between the Athletics' High-A and Double-A affiliates. Already MLB's No. 4 overall prospect, he should be in the top two once Konnor Griffin and Kevin McGonigle graduate, and should see time at Triple-A in short order if he continues to hit like this. Despite being just 19 years old, the switch-hitter has a good shot to make his MLB debut this year and as one of the most talented prospects in the game with above-average hit, power, and run tools, the Dominican should also be an impactful fantasy asset that should be stashed away in redraft leagues once his debut date becomes clearer.

Leo De Vries to Start 2026 Season at Double-A

Athletics shortstop prospect Leo De Vries will start the 2026 regular season at Double-A Midland, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. The big return that the A's got in the Mason Miller trade, De Vries is the A's top prospect and the No. 4 overall prospect in all of baseball at MLB Pipeline. He's the No. 4 shortstop prospect, behind Konnor Griffin, Kevin McGonigle, and Jesus Made. The 19-year-old switch-hitter looked like the real deal this spring, hitting .426/.460/.723 with a 1.183 OPS, three home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 18 Cactus League contests. De Vries is obviously still young, but if he continues to perform like that in the minors early this year, he could quickly make his way to Triple-A Las Vegas and potentially the big leagues by the end of 2026. With Jacob Wilson locked in at shortstop, De Vries' future at the big-league level could be at second base. De Vries, who is a must-roster in all dynasty leagues, doesn't have elite speed, but he still has the potential to be a high-end starting fantasy shortstop in time.

Leo De Vries Crushes Two Home Runs on Sunday

Athletics shortstop prospect Leo De Vries went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI during their victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon. The team's No. 1-ranked prospect (and MLB.com's No. 4-ranked prospect) enjoyed a massive breakout game. Overall, through 11 spring training games, De Vries has gone 10-for-26 with three stolen bases and the aforementioned two long balls. The young shortstop joined the Athletics ahead of last year's trade deadline in the deal that moved top right-handed closer Mason Miller to San Diego. Last season, De Vries logged 118 games (shared between High-A and Double-A), where he posted a .255/.355/.451 line with an .806 OPS, 15 HRs, and 11 SBs. If he continues this pace, De Vries could join Triple-A Las Vegas before the All-Star break.

Leo De Vries Exits Early on Saturday

Athletics shortstop Leo De Vries (illness) was removed early during Saturday's Spring Training contest against the San Francisco Giants. De Vries was pulled out of the game due to illness, which was likely dehydration. Luckily, this sounds like something minor that shouldn't keep De Vries sidelined for long. The expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup within a day or two. The 19-year-old is viewed as one of the top prospects in the league. He made it to Double-A last season and is likely going to open the 2026 season there or in Triple-A. There's a chance that De Vries makes his MLB debut in 2026, but that depends on how he performs in the minors. Regardless, the future is extremely bright for the youngster.

Leodalis De Vries Earns Invite to Spring Training

The Athletics have invited top infield prospect Leodalis De Vries to big-league spring training. De Vries is considered the No. 3-ranked prospect in the entire sport on MLB.com. He was the top piece included in the trade that sent Mason Miller to San Diego last season. De Vries began his 2025 season with High-A Fort Wayne but finished it with Double-A. Through 97 games at High-A (split between Fort Wayne and Lansing), De Vries posted a .249/.354/.426 line with 21 doubles, 10 home runs, and nine stolen bases. He was then given a short 21-game stint at Double-A Midland, where he posted a .281/.359/.551 line with five long balls. Managers should closely monitor De Vries' progression as he could make a strong case to begin the season at Triple-A, which would open the door for a 2026 MLB debut.

Leodalis De Vries in Play for 2026 MLB Debut?

Athletics infield prospect Leodalis De Vries could be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the second half of the 2026 campaign. De Vries was the headliner piece that went to the Athletics in return for relief pitcher Mason Miller, who was traded to the Padres at the deadline. De Vries is currently viewed as the No. 3 overall prospect in baseball on MLB.com. The 19-year-old spent most of the 2025 campaign with High-A and posted an overall .249/.354/.426 line with a .780 OPS, 10 home runs, and nine stolen bases. He was then promoted to Double-A Midland late in the season and continued to perform well over his brief 21-game look. During this short look, De Vries led a .281/.359/.551 line with five long balls. If the 19-year-old can continue this pace at Double-A to begin the season, he should be in the mix for an early promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, leaving the door open for the late-season MLB debut. He is a top dynasty asset heading into the 2026 season.
