Quantrill hasn't made a start since August 27th against the Miami Marlins but his return will be welcome for a Rockies rotation that's been dealing with a litany of injuries dating back to 2023. The 29-year-old has pitched to a 4.63 ERA in his first year with the Rockies, though he's been hit significantly harder in the second half of the season (.930 OPS) compared to the first half (.753 OPS). Quantrill's return to the rotation will likely mean much more to the Rockies than it will to fantasy managers given's Quantrill's second half struggles and lack of strikeouts. With the season nearing its end, only managers in deeper leagues that are desperate for help should consider the Rockies' righty. Better options can be found on the waiver wire for those in need.

Blach has been even worse in 18 outings (10 starts), yielding a 6.36 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and only striking out 34 in 63 2/3 frames. Stay away from Blach as a fantasy streamer.

Quantrill has a weak 17.4% strikeout rate in his 23 starts (122 1/3 innings) in 2024. On Aug. 4 against SD, he gave up three earned runs on five hits (two homers) while walking three and striking out two in 4 1/3 innings on the road.

Although he's not known for his bat-missing stuff, Quantrill dominated Pittsburgh for his longest start of the 2024 regular season on Friday and a big bounce-back effort after surrendering six runs in his last appearance at home versus the Houston Astros. The soft-throwing 29-year-old right-hander improved his ERA to 4.31 with a 1.29 WHIP and 26:14 K:BB over 39 2/3 frames (seven starts) this season from Colorado's rotation. Despite the strong showing, Quantrill still won't be the most exciting streaming option for fantasy purposes in his next projected start on Thursday at Coors Field against the division-rival San Francisco Giants.

Certainly, the pitching-needy Rockies saw an opportunity to buy low on a player with a rock-solid 3.83 ERA across 570 2/3 innings at the big-league level.

He regressed to a 5.24 ERA across 19 starts in 2023 but also tossed a rock-solid 3.38 ERA in 32 starts in 2022 and a sterling 2.89 ERA across 40 outings (22 starts) in the 2021 campaign. All told, the 28-year-old owns a career 3.83 ERA across 132 career appearances (94 starts) but that number could take a hit pitching his home games in baseball's hitter-friendliest venue at Coors Field in Denver.
