Nathan Eovaldi to Start Series Finale Against Padres

Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (knee) will start Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres at Globe Life Field. Eovaldi was scratched from his start on Saturday against San Diego with soreness in his left knee, but it turned out to be a pretty minor issue. The 36-year-old veteran will head into Sunday's start with a 6-7 record, 4.23 ERA (4.66 FIP), and 1.17 WHIP with 83 strikeouts and 21 walks in 87 1/3 innings pitched across 14 starts. The two-time All-Star has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last five starts while also giving up 19 earned runs on 30 hits (seven home runs) with 28 strikeouts and nine walks in 32 2/3 innings pitched for a 5.23 ERA (5.18 FIP) over that span. Eovaldi's strikeout rate has also fallen from 26% last year to 22.9% in 2026. However, with a great matchup against the punchless Padres' lineup, Eovaldi has a great chance to bounce back on Sunday, even though he's coming off an injury scare.

Nathan Eovaldi Scratched From Saturday's Start With Knee Soreness

Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (knee) has been scratched from Saturday's start at Globe Life Field against the visiting San Diego Padres with "a little" soreness in his left knee, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Left-hander MacKenzie Gore will make the start in Eovaldi's place against his former team. It's unclear as of now if Eovaldi will be a candidate for the injured list or if he'll just have to skip one turn through Texas' rotation. The 36-year-old veteran has gone 6-7 this year with a 4.23 ERA (4.66 FIP) and 1.17 WHIP with 83 strikeouts and 21 walks in 87 1/3 innings pitched across his 14 starts in his 15th year in the big leagues. Given Eovaldi's lengthy history of injuries, we would not be surprised if he lands on the IL, even if the Rangers are currently saying it's a minor knee injury. Eovaldi's strikeout rate has dropped to 22.9%, but the two-time All-Star is still throwing plenty of strikes and is rostered in over 90% of Yahoo leagues. Stay tuned for more information about when he might be ready to make his next start.

Jacob Latz Continues to be a Top Priority Closer on the Waiver Wire

Texas Rangers left-hander Jacob Latz has been fantastic thus far in 2026, converting on 12 of his 14 save opportunities with an impressive 1.62 ERA and 0.60 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings pitched. Under the hood, he has a 2.23 xERA (99th percentile) and a .168 xBA (99th percentile) and is completely dominating the ninth inning of games. The only downfall for Latz is that the Rangers are sitting four games under .500, and have not earned him as many opportunities as some of the other top closers in the game. To put the 14 opportunities into perspective, Cade Smith of the Guardians, who leads the league, has 26 opportunities. While 14 isn't bad, it still leaves more to be desired for fantasy managers and Latz. That being said, the Rangers are still in the hunt in the AL West, as it's been one of the weaker divisions in baseball, with the Mariners leading the division at 39-37, meaning the Rangers should be motivated to make a push, considering they have guys like Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, and Corey Seager as a veteran core. Due to the lack of consistent closers for fantasy baseball in 2026, Latz remains a top option if available on your waiver wire.

Joc Pederson is Gaining Deep-League Value

Texas Rangers outfielder Joc Pederson has been putting together a solid stretch of play lately. Over the last week. Pederson is slashing .357/.438/.571 with one home run and two RBI. He owns a .984 OPS over the last month of action. At this point in his career, Pederson is strictly a platoon bat, but that doesn't mean he can't offer fantasy value. He has blasted nine homers this season with 25 RBI and 28 walks in 68 games. The 34-year-old has enough pop in his bat to warrant looking at in deep leagues right now. His nine long balls have already matched his season total from a year ago. Fantasy managers should scoop him up while he's hot at the plate.

MacKenzie Gore Fans a Season-High 10 Hitters in Loss to Twins

Texas Rangers left-hander MacKenzie Gore was saddled with his sixth loss of the season in the 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Globe Life Field on Monday night, but he also had a season-high 10 strikeouts. Gore allowed four earned runs on four hits (two homers) while walking two. The 27-year-old southpaw was bit by the long ball early in this one, with most of the damage coming on a three-run homer off the bat of first baseman Josh Bell in the first inning. In his three starts in June, Gore has surrendered 10 earned runs on 21 hits (two homers) while walking eight and striking out 21 in 16 2/3 innings pitched. He's now 4-6 with a 4.27 ERA (3.65 FIP) and 1.31 WHIP with 86 strikeouts and 35 walks in 78 innings over his 15 starts in his first season with the Rangers. It's been an up-and-down year for Gore in 2026, but fantasy managers should consider him a strong streaming option for his upcoming matchup against his former team, the San Diego Padres. The Padres currently rank last in MLB in OPS at .652.

Josh Jung  • 3B  •  Rangers

Josh Jung Can Be An Elite Contact Contributor

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is a great option on the waiver wire if you're looking for a consistent contact option from the hot corner. The 28-year-old righty has dramatically slashed his K% from 25.2% last year to 16.1% this year, while his batting average has jumped from .251 in 2025 to .302 in his first 67 games this season. His hard-hit rate and barrel rate have actually dipped a little bit, but he's putting the ball in play and making things happen from a premium run-production spot near the top of the order. Jung has eight homers to go with his 32 runs scored, 30 RBI, and his .360 wOBA. He has been especially effective at home, but wherever he has played, he has been solid enough to help fill in your roster if you need batting average and run production over pure power.

Corey Seager Lands on Seven-Day Concussion Injured List

The Texas Rangers placed shortstop Corey Seager (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Monday and reinstated super-utility man Josh Smith (abdomen) from the IL in a corresponding move, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News. With Seager out for Monday's series opener against the visiting Minnesota Twins and Ezequiel Duran getting a day off, Nicky Lopez will make the start at the 6 and bat eighth for the Rangers against right-hander Mike Paredes. Seager collided with Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen at the plate last Thursday night and could not recover in time to begin Week 13 of the 2026 season. The Rangers described Seager's concussion symptoms as mild, so hopefully he'll be ready to come off the IL when he's eligible. Duran will most likely see most of the playing time at shortstop in Texas until Seager is back. Seager, a five-time All-Star and two-time World Series MVP, has struggled to stay healthy as he ages, and although he does have nine homers in 177 at-bats in 2026, he's also sporting a .186 average, .284 on-base percentage, and a career-high 26.5% strikeout rate. Despite the disappointing season to this point, Seager is still rostered in 90% of Yahoo leagues.

Corey Seager Remains Out With Concussion Symptoms

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (concussion) remains sidelined for Monday's series opener at Globe Life Field against the visiting Minnesota Twins, per MLB.com. Nicky Lopez will get a start at shortstop for the Rangers and will bat eighth against Twins right-hander Mike Paredes. Seager collided with Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen at home plate on Thursday and hasn't played since. He remains day-to-day, but if Seager cannot rejoin Texas' starting lineup in the next couple of days, he could land on the seven-day concussion injured list. The good news is that Seager did some hitting, throwing, and weightlifting on Sunday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Tuesday to see if he's back in there for Game 2 of the series against Minnesota. The 32-year-old former 18th overall pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 has nine home runs in 177 at-bats this year, but otherwise it's been rough, as he's currently sporting a .186/.284/.373 slash line with 24 RBI, 25 runs scored, one stolen base, and a career-high 26.5% strikeout rate in 47 games played in his 12th year in the majors.

Corey Seager has "Mild" Concussion Symptoms

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (head) has "mild" concussion symptoms, which is why he was held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night, according to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News. Seager missed a third straight game on Sunday after he collided with Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen on Thursday. The oft-injured 32-year-old could eventually land on the seven-day concussion list if he cannot return to the Rangers' lineup sooner rather than later, but for now, he's being considered day-to-day. With Seager out again on Sunday, super-utility man Ezequiel Duran got the start at the 6 and hit cleanup for Texas. Seager, a five-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger winner, and two-time World Series MVP, has already missed time in 2026 with a back injury, and he's hitting a disappointing .186 (33-for-177) with nine home runs, 24 RBI, 25 runs scored, and a stolen base across his 47 games and 204 plate appearances in his 12th year in the big leagues. Initially, the Rangers said Seager was dealing with rib and jaw injuries, but with a concussion being added on Sunday, it's certainly more worrisome that he might require another IL stint.

Jacob Latz Gaining Steam as Waiver-Wire Pickup for Saves

Texas Rangers left-handed reliever Jacob Latz has become manager Skip Schumaker's clear favorite for save chances in 2026. The 30-year-old southpaw has been outstanding for the Rangers so far this season, going 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA (2.52 FIP), 0.62 WHIP, a career-high 10 saves, 33 strikeouts, and seven walks in 32 innings pitched over his 25 appearances (one start). And since blowing his second save of the year on May 13 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Latz has really excelled, giving up just one earned run on five hits (one homer) while walking two, striking out 16, winning two games, and picking up five saves in 10 1/3 innings pitched. Latz made things interesting in his appearance on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals, loading the bases with no outs, but he escaped for his 10th save of the year. He then picked up his second win of the year the following night. Latz has only given up runs in four of his 25 appearances in 2026 and is somehow rostered in under half of Yahoo leagues at the moment. If you need saves and Latz is on the waiver wire, the decision should be easy to pick him up.

Corey Seager is Day-to-Day with Minor Injuries

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (ribs, face) was absent from the starting lineup during Friday's loss to the Boston Red Sox. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Seager is day-to-day with rib and jaw injuries that he suffered during Thursday's game. Seager appears to have picked up a pair of injuries during a home plate collision with Carter Jensen on Thursday. Ezequiel Duran started at shortstop on Friday and could see more action over there this weekend. This doesn't sound like something that will require a stint on the Injured List. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on Seager.

Ezequiel Duran's Multi-Positional Eligibility Makes him Priority Waiver-Wire Target

Across 212 plate appearances in 2026, Texas Rangers utility man Ezequiel Duran is hitting .292/.346/.453 with four home runs, 35 RBI, 27 runs scored, and five stolen bases. The 27-year-old is outperforming his underlying metrics at the plate, as he's benefitted from a .375 batting average on balls in play despite posting an underwhelming 38.9% hard-hit rate. Still, Duran's ability to play basically any position other than pitcher, catcher, and center field makes him an incredibly valuable asset to the Rangers and allows him to find everyday playing time while cycling around the diamond. Even if Duran's batting average comes down a bit as his BABIP regresses, he should still provide relatively balanced five-category production for fantasy managers. With his multi-positional eligibility, Duran should be a priority waiver wire target for deep-league fantasy managers.

Jake Burger  • 1B  •  Rangers

Jake Burger Still Worthy of a Waiver-Wire Pickup Despite Recent Slump?

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger got off to a rough start to June, going hitless in his first 19 plate appearances over five games with a run scored, two walks, and six strikeouts. He closed out May with six hits in 11 at-bats with three doubles and an RBI in three games, though, and he's recorded four hits (one double) and two RBI in eight plate appearances in his last two contests. Overall, the 30-year-old right-handed slugger is batting .238/.293/.414 with a .708 OPS, 10 home runs, 39 RBI, 30 runs scored, and a stolen base in 64 games and 259 plate appearances in his second year with the Rangers. Burger hit a dismal .170 in April, but he bounced back in May to hit .290 (27-for-93) with five home runs, seven RBI, 18 RBI, 18 runs, and a steal in 26 games. He still strikes out 26.3% of the time, which isn't ideal for fantasy managers looking for a boost in average or on-base percentage, but Burger still has enough pop to be worth a look off the waiver wire for corner-infield depth. He's currently rostered in just 22% of Yahoo leagues.

Joc Pederson Emerging as a Power Bat to Target on the Waiver Wire

Across 202 plate appearances so far in 2026, Texas Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson is hitting .237/.343/.444 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 25 runs scored. The 34-year-old got off to a slow start to the season but rebounded in May, posting a .919 OPS with six home runs last month. Pederson's playing time is limited to a strict big-side platoon role, as he's logged just 15 plate appearances against left-handed pitching on the year. Still, he's proven he can be an effective deep-league power source for fantasy managers even in a relatively small number of at-bats throughout his career. Pederson had a down year at the plate in 2025, but he hit .275 with 23 home runs across 449 plate appearances with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2024. With a 13.4% walk rate, 9.1% barrel rate, and 47% hard-hit rate, Pederson's underlying metrics back up his solid production in 2026. For fantasy managers in need of power, Pederson profiles as a useful waiver wire target.

Josh Jung Needs to be Added During Hot Streak

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung has been crushing everything coming his way lately. Over the last two weeks, Jung has had 14 hits, two homers, seven RBI, and three walks. Jung is currently slashing .318/.364/.497 with six homers and 25 RBI against right-handed pitching this season. This is the kind of potential that the Rangers were hopeful to get out of Jung this season. The injury bug has kept him down at times, but he's a solid slugger when he's healthy. Jung is on fire at the plate right now and needs to be rostered in most fantasy formats during this hot stretch at the plate.

Jacob Latz Logs Ninth Save on Friday, Must-Add Closer in All League Formats

Texas Rangers left-hander Jacob Latz picked up his ninth save of 2026 on Friday, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three across two scoreless innings in his team's 3-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Latz has emerged as a valuable weapon in the Texas bullpen this season, pitching to a 1.86 ERA and 0.62 WHIP with 29 strikeouts across 29 innings (23 games). The 30-year-old owns an excellent 21.7% K-BB rate and has settled into the closer role for the Rangers, recording saves in each of his last four appearances. Latz pitched 85 2/3 innings across 33 appearances (eight starts) for Texas in 2025, so his ability to work multiple innings makes him a slightly unorthodox closer. Still, there's no denying his production so far in 2026. In any league where he's not already rostered, Latz should be a priority waiver wire target for fantasy managers.

Wyatt Langford  • LF  •  Rangers

Wyatt Langford Back From the Injured List

The Texas Rangers announced on Friday that they activated outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) from the 10-day injured list before the series opener at Globe Life Field against the visiting Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Parker Messick. The Rangers are getting a serious boost with the returns of both Langford and shortstop Corey Seager (back) for the start of their series against the Guardians. Langford has been sidelined since late April due to a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right forearm. He hit just .200 with a homer, two RBI, four runs scored, and a steal in 15 plate appearances during his minor-league rehab assignment, but Langford, when right, is one of the more intriguing young power/speed threats in the game. The 24-year-old former fourth overall pick in 2023 out of the University of Florida was hitting just .238 (19-for-80) with a homer and four RBI before going on the IL this year. Durability has become a major concern with Langford, but he did hit 38 homers, drive in 136, and steal 41 bases in 268 games in his first two big-league seasons with the Rangers.

Rangers Activate Corey Seager From the Injured List

The Texas Rangers activated shortstop Corey Seager (back) from the 10-day injured list on Friday before their series opener at home at Globe Life Field against the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Parker Messick, according to MLB.com. Seager is back with the Rangers after going 1-for-5 on a short minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since the middle of May due to inflammation in his lower back, but he'll return to starting shortstop duties and will hopefully give Texas an offensive boost on the infield. The five-time All-Star was hitting just .179 (28-for-156) before his back injury landed him on the IL and had gone hitless in his last 25 at-bats, but he did have seven home runs and has had at least 21 home runs in each of the last four seasons since coming to the Rangers in 2022. Seager could be a bit rusty upon his MLB return and could be eased back in by the Rangers this weekend, but he should still be rostered in all fantasy baseball leagues despite his slow start in 2026.

Corey Seager  • SS  •  Rangers

Corey Seager Expected to Return This Weekend

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (back) is expected to return from the 10-day injured list this weekend, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Rangers entered Wednesday ranked 23rd in runs per game and two games below .500, so they desperately need both Seager and outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) back in their lineup. The 32-year-old Seager started a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday and should be good to go by the weekend, barring a setback. The five-time All-Star and two-time World Series MVP has gotten off to a bad start to the 2026 season, slashing just .179/.286/.353 with a .638 OPS, but he did have seven home runs in 156 at-bats before injuring his back. Seager has had trouble staying healthy at various points in his career, but the Rangers need him to stay on the field the rest of the year to have any chance at getting into the postseason. In fantasy, Seager's buy-low window remains open if you're willing to take on the risk that he cannot overcome his slow start. UPDATE: Seager is expected to come off the IL for the series opener on Friday versus the Cleveland Guardians, per MLB.com's Kennedi Landry.

Ezequiel Duran  • 2B  •  Rangers

Ezequiel Duran Re-Emerging as a Must-Roster Fantasy Asset

Across 188 plate appearances so far in 2026, Texas Rangers utility man Ezequiel Duran is hitting .294/.348/.465 with four home runs, 32 RBI, 25 runs scored, and five stolen bases. The 27-year-old has drawn a walk in a career-best 8% of his plate appearances, and he's raised his hard-hit rate from 30.9% in 2025 to 40.6% in 2026. With Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (back) currently on the injured list, Duran has seen everyday playing time at short in recent weeks. While Seager should eventually return to the Rangers lineup, Duran can play basically anywhere on the field other than center field and catcher, which should allow him to maintain consistent playing time. Duran may not offer fantasy managers standout production in any one category. Still, his multi-position eligibility and lack of major weaknesses at the plate make him a useful player to target on the waiver wire.
