Jake Burger Off to Slow Start, Power Still Worth Monitoring

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger has struggled through the early portion of the 2026 season, slashing .208/.242/.362 with a .604 OPS across 38 games. The power remains present for Burger, as he has already launched six home runs, but his 27.4 K% has continued to hurt his overall offensive production. Burger has not appeared in a game since Friday and could be receiving additional time away from the lineup to reset at the plate. The 30-year-old is now in his second season with Texas and has yet to fully recapture the form he showed in 2023, when he posted a .827 OPS with 34 home runs.

Josh Jung is Worth an Add During Hot Streak

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung has been putting together a solid run at the plate lately. He recently saw his 13-game hitting streak come to an end on Wednesday. During that span, Jung slashed .400/.455/.620 with two home runs and 11 RBI. He has cooled off a bit since seeing his hitting streak end, but that shouldn't sway away fantasy managers. The 28-year-old has been impressive against right-handed pitching all season long. He has shown the upside to be a dominant right-handed power threat throughout his career. Fantasy managers in need of some offensive help right now should consider adding Jung while he's hot.

Jake Burger Still Worth Targeting on the Waiver Wire Amidst Cold Streak?

Entering play on Thursday, Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger had logged just seven hits in his last 49 plate appearances. The 30-year-old is now hitting .218/.253/.380 with six home runs, 21 RBI, and 14 runs scored across his first 150 plate appearances of 2026. Burger's 28.7% strikeout rate is his worst mark since 2022, and he's started to slide from the middle of the Rangers batting order to the bottom. However, Burger still owns strong underlying batted-ball metrics with a 10% barrel rate and a 50% hard-hit rate. He's recorded 85 home runs over his last 1,645 MLB plate appearances, so he remains a power threat for fantasy managers to deploy in a corner infield spot. Burger's profile comes with plenty of risk, but he could be a worthy buy-low target off the waiver wire amidst his current cold spell.

Brandon Nimmo is Absent with Hamstring Issue

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers. This doesn't come as a surprise after Nimmo was forced to make an early exit from Friday's game due to a right hamstring injury. The Rangers are going to play it safe and hold out Nimmo for at least one game as a precaution. Ezequiel Duran will draw the start in right field and bat sixth versus right-hander Keider Montero on Saturday. Fantasy managers should consider Nimmo as day-to-day and should check back for another update on Sunday.

Wyatt Langford is Shut Down for One Week

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) will miss at least one more week of action. He rejoined the team on Saturday ahead of their game against the Detroit Tigers. However, Langford won't play and will rest for a full week before being re-evaluated by the organization. He was on track to play on Saturday before aggravating his forearm injury during a rehab game on Thursday. The Rangers are going to play it safe and give Langford a week to rest and recover. The Rangers should give an updated timetable on his return once he resumes baseball activities.

Jacob Latz Earns Another Save on Friday, Emerging as Rangers' Primary Closer?

Texas Rangers left-hander Jacob Latz picked up his third save of the season on Friday, throwing a scoreless inning with a strikeout in his team's 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. Latz started the year in the Rangers' rotation but has since been shifted to the bullpen and has now recorded saves in three consecutive appearances. Across 17 2/3 innings (14 games) overall this season, the 30-year-old has pitched to a 1.02 ERA and 0.45 WHIP with 15 strikeouts. He's lowered his walk rate to a career-best 4.8%, and opposing batters are currently hitting just .085 against him. Texas has been searching for a permanent closer option for most of the last two seasons, so Latz should have no trouble hanging on to the role if he keeps producing. Latz profiles as a priority waiver wire target across most fantasy formats.

Brandon Nimmo Aggravates Hamstring, Pulled Early on Friday

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) left early on Friday in the series opener against the Detroit Tigers in the fourth inning after his second single of the contest after aggravating his hamstring injury, according to Jeff Wilson of All City DLLS. Nimmo also left Wednesday's series finale against the New York Yankees early due to hamstring tightness, which he said is a common occurrence and is manageable. Before hitting the showers early, Nimmo went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and a walk to raise his season average over .300 to .302. Ezequiel Duran shifted from second base to right field to replace Nimmo. Even though Nimmo doesn't appear to be very worried about his right hamstring, fantasy managers should at least expect him to sit out of Saturday's contest in Motown. And if Nimmo needs a trip to the injured list, Sam Haggerty could benefit the most from extra playing time in the outfield for the Rangers. Nimmo is a must-roster outfielder in all fantasy leagues as an on-base machine and multi-category contributor at the top of Texas' batting order.

Brandon Nimmo Back in Rangers Lineup on Friday

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) is starting in right field and batting leadoff on Friday for the series opener in Detroit against the Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty, according to MLB.com. Nimmo is back in action after he left Wednesday's game early against the New York Yankees with right-hamstring tightness, but he's feeling better after having an additional day off for travel on Thursday. Fantasy managers will want to get the 33-year-old left-handed hitter back in their starting lineups against a right-handed pitcher. Nimmo is certainly no stranger to missing time due to injuries, so fantasy managers have to be stoked to have him back so quickly. He's off to a strong start in his first year in Texas, coming into Friday's game slashing .290/.364/.460 with an .824 OPS, four home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and a stolen base in 124 at-bats. He's never faced Flaherty in his MLB career.

Wyatt Langford Suffers Setback With Forearm Injury

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) felt something in his right forearm on Thursday and left an extended spring training game in Arizona early as a result, according to Jeff Wilson of All City DLLS. The Rangers are awaiting more information on Langford's injury. He could play again on Friday night in Arizona, but it's also possible that he'll have to restart his swing progression. Langford was playing in his first game action since landing on the 10-day injured list last week with a flexor strain in his right forearm. Although the Rangers think that this could end up being a minor setback, it likely means that Langford won't return to the team's lineup this Saturday as previously expected. With the 24-year-old's return to the MLB roster pushed back, Ezequiel Duran should continue to benefit from more playing time in the outfield for Texas going forward. Despite another injury and a slow start in 2026, Langford should be stashed in all fantasy leagues for his power/speed upside. He was hitting .238/.274/.363 with a homer, four RBI, three steals, and nine runs scored in just 20 games at the time of his forearm injury.

Jacob Latz Earns Another Save for Rangers, Emerging as Closer to Roster?

Texas Rangers relief pitcher Jacob Latz worked two shutout innings on Wednesday night to help his team close out a 3-0 win over the visiting Yankees. Latz allowed one hit and had one strikeout, lowering his ERA for the season to 1.08 with a 0.48 WHIP in his 16 2/3 innings over 13 appearances. While the Rangers continue to use a committee to close out games, Latz has been their best reliever for fantasy this season, posting two saves and two holds. He isn't an elite closer option due to his undefined role, but he does have good upside and is worth considering for a roster spot in some formats since he has been so effective wherever the Rangers decide to deploy him.

Brandon Nimmo Leaves Wednesday's Game With Hamstring Tightness

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) left Wednesday's 3-0 shutout win over the visiting New York Yankees early with right-hamstring tightness, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Nimmo went 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk before being pulled in the bottom of the fifth inning at Globe Life Field. The severity of Nimmo's hamstring injury is unknown, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. If Nimmo's injury isn't very serious, he could be ready to roll for the team's next game on Friday in Detroit against the Tigers after a scheduled day off on Thursday. If Nimmo is forced to the 10-day injured list and misses extended time, Sam Haggerty, who replaced Nimmo on Wednesday, could be in line to see the biggest playing-time boost in Texas' outfield. Nimmo, 33, is a multi-category contributor as a table-setter, making him valuable in all fantasy formats. If he's forced to the IL, he should remain stashed in an IL spot. Nimmo came into Wednesday's game against the Yanks with a .287 average (35-for-122) with four home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs, and a stolen base in 30 games played.

Wyatt Langford  • LF  •  Rangers

Wyatt Langford Expected to be Activated on Saturday

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) said the plan is for him to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Saturday, according to Jeff Wilson of All City DLLS. The Rangers want Langford to play in a minor-league rehab game somewhere on Thursday. Langford is attempting to come back from a flexor strain in his right forearm. Because of the nature of the 24-year-old's injury, the Rangers could use him more as the designated hitter in the big-league lineup upon his expected return this weekend. Ezequiel Duran has seen more playing time in left field in Texas with Langford on the shelf. Langford wasn't swinging the bat all that well in his first 80 at-bats of 2026 before his arm injury, going 19-for-80 (.238) with only one home run, four RBI, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases. Despite his quiet start, Langford is a must-roster and must-start outfielder for his power/speed upside in fantasy. The former fourth overall pick in 2023 from the University of Florida had 22 homers and 22 steals in just 134 games in 2025 in his second year in the big leagues.

Josh Jung Hitting Second in Rangers Order Against Yankees

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is hitting second in the batting order for Monday's series opener against the visiting New York Yankees and left-hander Max Fried, according to MLB.com. Jung has been healthy of late and is red-hot at the dish, going 21-for-56 (.375) with four home runs and 13 RBI in his last 15 games for the Rangers. Overall, the oft-injured 28-year-old is batting .308 (28-for-91) with four home runs, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, and a stolen base in 25 games played. Jung hasn't been all that great against left-handed pitching so far in 2026, though, going 4-for-22 (.182) against them with one of his four home runs in 24 plate appearances. He'll be facing one of the toughest southpaws in the league on Monday night against Fried, too. Jung's move up in the batting order reflects how hot he's been recently, and fantasy managers in need of corner-infield help should consider adding him off the waiver wire. Jung is rostered in 41% of Yahoo leagues.

Jack Leiter  • SP  •  Rangers

Jack Leiter Cleared to Start on Monday

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter (ankle) is ready to go and will make the start against the New York Yankees on Monday. Leiter suffered an ankle injury during his previous start versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Luckily, it was a minor issue that isn't going to cost him anytime. The right-hander has struggled lately with a 6.91 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, and a 12/9 K:BB ratio over his last three starts. His first two starts of the season went well, but he hasn't been able to find the same success since then. Leiter will be a shaky streaming option against the Yankees' tough lineup.

Jacob Latz Earns Save on Saturday, Worth Stashing in Deep Leagues?

Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob Latz earned his first save of the season during Saturday's game against the Athletics. Latz was called upon with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. The southpaw tossed a scoreless inning, recording one strikeout and earning the save on 14 pitches. It was his first save of the season as the Rangers continue to operate with a committee approach. Latz has been solid with a 1.23 ERA, 0.48 WHIP, and a 13/3 K:BB ratio across 14.2 innings of work. Given his success, Latz will likely receive more opportunities to pitch in high-leverage spots, but the Rangers also have other options to pitch in the ninth. Latz could be worth a look in deep leagues, but isn't a full-time closer at the moment.

Jakob Junis  • RP  •  Rangers

Jakob Junis Pitches in Eighth Inning, Remains in Strict Committee?

Texas Rangers reliever Jakob Junis allowed a hit across a scoreless inning, earning the hold in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Athletics. This was the Rangers' first save opportunity in over a week. He entered the game in the eighth inning in a high-leverage situation while the team turned to Jacob Latz for the save on Saturday. Junis hasn't had a save since April 12 but has racked up three saves and two holds in his last eight appearances. The Rangers are down a few relievers as the team recently placed reliever Robert Garcia (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, while Chris Martin (bicep) was placed on the IL on April 15 with a bicep injury. Despite not getting the save on Saturday, Junis is the favorite to be the Rangers' primary closer over Latz and Cole Winn. Junis is rostered in 23% of Yahoo Fantasy leagues and is worth the waiver wire addition in leagues with 12 teams or more for managers searching for saves.

Jake Burger  • 1B  •  Rangers

Jake Burger Slumping, Buy-Low Window Opening for Third Baseman

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger has cooled after a scorching March to open the season in which he hit .409 with a .727 slugging percentage. His season OPS has dropped to .670, but that early production showed the impact bat he can be when locked in at the plate. Burger is in his second season with Texas and still carries major rebound appeal, but he is carrying a 28.4 K% that has slowed his production. The 30-year-old has enough raw power to clear 30 home runs over a full season, making him a player worth tracking closely. If he cuts down the strikeouts and finds his rhythm again, another hot streak could follow soon. Fantasy managers should treat Burger as a strong buy-low waiver wire target.

Josh Jung  • 3B  •  Rangers

Josh Jung Red-Hot in April, Quickly Becoming a Must-Add Off Waiver Wire

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung has been red hot in April, slashing .379/.440/.652 for the month and raising his season OPS to .877. Now in his fifth MLB season, Jung appears to be taking another offensive step after previously showing flashes of impact upside. The 28-year-old has recorded four multi-hit games over his last eight contests while adding three home runs during that stretch. His strong contact quality and growing consistency have helped solidify his everyday role at third base for Texas. If this surge continues, Josh Jung should remain one of the top priority waiver wire additions as fantasy managers look for infield production entering May.

Jacob deGrom Racks Up 10 Punchouts in Dominant Performance

Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom proved on Thursday in the 6-1 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates that he can still be dominant on the mound. deGrom earned his second win of the 2026 season by allowing just one earned run on a solo homer while allowing five hits, walking one, and striking out a season-high 10 in 5 2/3 innings of work. The only run that came against the 37-year-old veteran was an Oneil Cruz homer in the fifth inning. The two-time Cy Young winner and five-time All-Star is fully healthy and has been on point in his first five starts of the season. After Thursday's strong performance against the Bucs, deGrom is sporting a 2-0 record, 2.13 ERA (3.26 FIP), and 1.07 WHIP with 35 strikeouts and only seven walks in 25 1/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers would have liked to have seen deGrom get one more out for a quality start, but they can't really complain with the way he's started his 13th year in the big leagues. Even though the Rangers continue to play it safe with his workload early on, he's a must-start in fantasy.

Robert Garcia  • RP  •  Rangers

Robert Garcia Placed on Injured List With Shoulder Inflammation

The Texas Rangers announced on Thursday that they placed left-hander reliever Robert Garcia (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with left-shoulder inflammation and selected the contract of right-hander Peyton Gray from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Because the 29-year-old southpaw hadn't pitched in a week, he'll be eligible to return from the IL on May 5. Garcia had a 2.95 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, his first nine career saves, and a 68:22 K:BB in a career-high 64 innings for the Rangers in his first year with the team in 2025, but he had yet to pick up a save before his shoulder injury in his first nine outings this year. Right-hander Jakob Junis has so far been tasked with save situations for the Rangers, limiting Garcia's fantasy appeal in all formats. He will now be out at least two weeks, and he's only rostered in 10% of Yahoo leagues.
