San Francisco Giants infielder Conor Gillaspie has been designated for assignment. Gillaspie struggled this season with both injuries and poor numbers. For the season he hit .163 with two home runs. Another team will likely take a chance in the veteran but no matter where he winds up he will have no fantasy value.
The San Francisco Giants will place infielder Conor Gillaspie (back) on the disabled list. In a related move, the team will call up infielder Jae-gyun Hwang. Gillaspie recently came back from a back spasms injury but it seems to still be bothering him. He was only 1-for-6 in his return. He can safely be left on waivers and is not worthy of a DL stash.
San Francisco Giants infielder Conor Gillaspie (back) has been activated from the 10-day disabled list. Gillaspie had missed the teams last 32 games with back spasms. He will go straight to work batting in the seventh spot this evening, replacing infielder/outfielder Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) who was placed on the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday's contest. Gillaspie hit .296 over 27 at-bats during his rehab assignment and is looking to take over the everyday third base job with Nunez out. Infielder Aaron Hill should also be in the third base mix. Gillaspie is a career .252 hitter in parts of eight seasons in the major leagues and offers some pop in his bat. He is someone to keep an eye on in NL-Only leagues.
San Francisco Giants third baseman Conor Gillaspie had a setback with his rehab, according to Alex Pavlovic. He's having an MRI today and seeing the team doctors later tonight. Gillaspie has had a pathetic 2017 campaign, owed largely to his back problems, and was only 6-for-45 prior to being injured. The Giants will need all the help they can get if they want to make a run in the surprisingly strong National League West this year.
