Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey (concussion) will be evaluated on Saturday to see if he can resume physical activity. Pompey can't seem to stay healthy and has played in only 13 big league games since 2016. Toronto's outfield doesn't exactly have great depth in 2019, so Pompey could eventually force his way into the conversation, but we wouldn't bet on it this year.
Anthony Alford and Dalton Pompey Activated off Disabled List
Toronto Blue Jays outfielders Anthony Alford and Dalton Pompey were both sent down to Triple-A Buffalo after recovering from their injuries on Thursday. Both young promising outfielders will look to produce in the minors to warrant a call-up to an already crowded Blue Jays outfield that features Kevin Pillar, Curtis Granderson, Steve Pearce, Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez all needing at-bats.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey (wrist) said his right wrist is improving, and he was able to throw from 60 feet on Thursday. "It's heading in the right direction for sure," Pompey said. Pompey was injured most of last year in the minors as well, playing in just 13 games between Single-A and Triple-A. He offers mainly speed, but it would likely take an injury to Kevin Pillar for him to see significant playing time with Toronto in 2018.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey was set to receive a CT scan on his sore right wrist on Monday, and apparently the results are in. Pompey has been told to rest his wrist for a couple of days, and if it does not respond, hell receive a cortisone shot. Presumably, that means the CT scan didnt discover anything serious. This is good news for Pompey, but hell need to get on the field soon in order to have a chance at making an early season impact after missing all but 13 minor league games in 2017. Of course, Torontos acquisition of outfielders Curtis Granderson and Randal Grichuk doesnt help Pompeys chances here either. Pompey isnt worth a draft pick in any format.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey has been experiencing soreness in his right wrist after aggravating it last week and now hes set to undergo a CT scan. According to Pompey, the soreness has resulted in decreased grip strength, so he decided it was time to get it checked out. He expects to miss a few days and take it from there. While this doesnt sound serious, any injury news for Pompey is particularly concerning. His 2017 was a waste after being limited to 13 minor league games due to knee issues and a concussion. The 25-year-old cant afford to waste time now with Torontos outfield a logjam as it is. Pompey isnt worth much fantasy consideration.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey was scratched from Sundays game due to wrist soreness, but its a minor issue, as hes been listed as day-to-day. There is word as to how he may have suffered soreness to begin with. For fantasy purposes, Pompey doesnt carry much value anyway, but this isnt going to affect how you rate him. Torontos offseason started with a thin outfield but eventually became a crowded one with the acquisitions of Curtis Granderson and Randal Grichuk. Pompeys greatest value to the Blue Jays will likely be with his speed as a defensive replacement and/or pinch-runner, and so the fantasy consideration here is next to zero.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey on Saturday said "everything's good" after an injury-plagued 2017 season. Speaking at the team's Winter Fest, Pompey said the concussion and knee issues that limited him to just 13 minor league games last year are in his rearview mirror. That's good news for the 25-year-old, who will have some competition if he hopes to win a major league spot this spring. It will be a competition to watch during spring training, but he is not on the mixed league radar at present.
