Daniel Tillo Has UCL Damage In Elbow
Kansas City Royals left-handed pitching prospect Daniel Tillo's (elbow) MRI exam on Thursday showed UCL damage in his arm, and he's likely to receive a second opinion. It's not good news, as it could lead to Tommy John surgery, setting the 24-year-old back in his development. The team's No. 20 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Tillo was a third-round pick in 2017 and has intriguing upside for his size and stuff on the mound. He reached Double-A for the first time last season and also pitched in the Arizona Fall League. The southpaw's fastball sits at 93-97 mph and includes heavy sink, leading to a minor league-best 63.7 percent ground-ball rate. Tillo also features an above-average slider and a developing changeup.
