Cubs Sign Dario Alvarez
The Chicago Cubs have signed left-handed pitcher Dario Alvarez. Alvarez pitched in 20 games for the Texas Tangers this past season, where he posted a 2.76 ERA. However, he did allow 14 walks over that span and had a 2.02 WHIP. The Cubs are in need of bullpen help, and Alvarez will look to fill the void left by free-agent left-hander Brian Duensing. He will be a project for new pitching coach Jim Hickey and compete for a bullpen spot in spring training.
