He'll have a better opportunity with the rebuilding Pirates, but German is unlikely to be much of a fantasy asset outside of NL-only leagues if he's with the big-league roster in 2024. In his six-year career, German holds a 4.41 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 2.8 walks per nine innings and 9.4 K's per nine innings in 522 1/3 frames.

German was suspended 10 games in May for using a sticky substance and was suspended 81 games in 2019 and 2020 for violating the league's domestic-violence policy.

The amazing effort lowered his ERA on the year to 4.54 through 15 starts this year. German was the first pitcher in MLB to throw a perfect game since former Mariners ace Felix Hernandez did it in August of 2012. He'll face a tough matchup against the Baltimore Orioles in his next outing.
