Drew Robinson Makes Giants Minor League Team

San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson, who lost his right eye in a suicide attempt last year, made the Opening Day roster for the team's Triple-A affiliate and could play as early as Thursday when the Sacramento River Cats open their series in Las Vegas. The 29-year-old shot himself in the head and spent more than a year in rehab. The left-handed hitter learned to discern balls and strikes without his lead eye, and he also added almost 20 pounds of muscle in minor league camp. Robinson needed four surgeries on his eye and face, and he continues to do regular therapy, meditation and medication. When he connects with the baseball, he has legitimate power, but only time will tell if he can be successful enough at the plate to make a return to the major leagues.

Drew Robinson Recalled To The Majors

Texas Rangers utility player Drew Robinson has been recalled to the majors. The Rangers needed outfield help after Delino DeShields was placed on the disabled list with a broken finger. Robinson has struggled this season, hitting just .186 with one home run and two stolen bases. In addition, Robinson is unlikely to see regular playing time, as he will mostly serve time as a backup to Carlos Tocci. Robinson's call up is bad news for Willie Calhoun, who will remain at Triple-A to receive regular at-bats.

Drew Robinson Could Be Called Up

Texas Rangers outfielder Drew Robinson could be called back up to the major leagues if Delino DeShields is placed on the disabled list. Robinson was optioned to Triple-A when DeShields was activated last Sunday. However, if DeShields does require another trip to the disabled list with his finger injury then Robinson is in contention to replace him. Robinson's defensive utility would allow the Rangers to use him as a backup to Carlos Tocci, which may be preferable to having Joey Gallo as the backup. Robinson does not have much fantasy value even if he is called up, having hit .186 with one home run so far this season.

Drew Robinson Starting In Center Field

Texas Rangers utility player Drew Robinson will get the start in center field Friday. Interestingly, this was the day that the Rangers could have activated outfielder Delino DeShields. The fact that Robinson is starting suggests that DeShields is not quite ready yet. Robinson has struggled this season, with a .190 batting average, one home run and one stolen base. Even if Robinson was hitting near the top of the lineup, his numbers make it close to impossible to use him in DFS on Friday.

Carlos Tocci Back In Lineup Monday

Texas Rangers outfielder Carlos Tocci returns to the lineup on Monday, playing center field. Tocci received Sunday off, but will come back in with Drew Robinson heading to the bench. Tocci has managed to get his batting average up to .159, which while poor is significantly better than it was earlier in the season. However, the biggest problem with Tocci is his lack of counting stats. This season, he has four runs, three RBI, zero home runs and zero steals. Right now, despite the regular playing time, Tocci as no value in any format for fantasy owners.

Drew Robinson Added To Major League Roster

Texas Rangers utility player Drew Robinson was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday. With Delino DeShields heading to the disabled list, joining Ryan Rua and Nomar Mazara, the Rangers needed some flexibility on their roster. Robinson provides that, being able to cover all outfield and most infield positions. Robinson hit just .175 to start the season with the Rangers, before being placed on the DL. In his time at Triple-A he has hit .308 with a .374 OBP and a .556 slugging percentage. Robinson has flashed hints of power in his career and has eight home runs at Triple-A. When starting Robinson could have some DFS value if he can bring that power to the major leagues.

Drew Robinson Suffers Setback

Texas Rangers utility player Drew Robinson suffered a setback with his hip during recovery. Robinson has now not played in a week and will require more time on a rehab assignment before the Rangers can consider activating him. The left-handed hitter was hitting just .175 with one home run and one stolen base prior to his injury. With the Rangers trying to accommodate Adrian Beltre at designated hitter regularly, Robinson will have some value in deeper leagues when he returns. He should play semi-regularly all over the field, spelling guys and preventing people from playing out of position too often.

Drew Robinson Hits The Disabled List

Texas Rangers utility player Drew Robinson was placed on the disabled list Monday with a sore hip. Robinson was initially in Monday's lineup but was later scratched. Robinson was offering little value with the bat, hitting .175 with one home run and one steal in 89 plate appearances. The Rangers called up Eliezer Alvarez from Double-A. However, do not expect Alvarez to spend much time in the majors, with both Adrian Beltre and Rougned Odor expected to return this week.

Drew Robinson Out of Monday's Lineup

Texas Rangers infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson (hip) has been scratched from Monday's lineup due to left hip soreness. It's unclear whether or not Robinson is going to land on the disabled list. In the meantime, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will slide over to second base and Renato Nunez draws the start at third base on Monday. Robinson is not worth owning in leagues right now, but Kiner-Falefa has gained some value in deeper leagues.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa to Start at Third; Drew Robinson In at Second

With Texas Rangers third basemanAdrian Beltre(hamstring) hitting the disabled list officially, the Rangers will use infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa at the hot corner against the A's in his absence. Fellow rookie Drew Robinson will slot in at second on Wednesday. Texas can't get anything to go right on the injury front in 2018 and with Joey Gallo ceding first base to Ronald Guzman and Robinson Chirinos getting the night off, the Rangers will have turned over their entire Opening Day infield just 25 games into the season. Kiner-Falefa continues to yield a decent albeit BABIP-fueled batting average with little in the way of counting stats. Robinson has a little pop but strikes out way too much to depend on for consistent at-bats. If you're depending on either of these two, it says just as much about your team's 2018 chances as it does about the Rangers.
