Dusty Coleman Gets Shot at Shortstop, Drives in Three
San Diego shortstop Dusty Coleman was the latest to try out for the vacated position since Erick Aybar's injury. He did pretty well for himself on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run against the Mets. It was the first career homer for Coleman, who only has 13 Major League at-bats under his belt. The 30-year old seemed destined to be a career minor leaguer, but is getting a shot to fill in temporarily. He has shown some pop in the minors, but don't expect him to turn into this year's Ryan Schimpf. Coleman will more likely than not be sent back down once Yangervis Solarte returns from the disabled list.
